Conte | Spurs Manager

The teams who have won the CL without being the best team on paper have generally done so through strong defensive organisation and work rate. It ought to be right up Conte's alley, especially with some of the attacking players he's had to support such an approach, yet he's never really done much in Europe.

Eh, not really and Conte is no defensive guru either

He's too dogmatic and imo tends to underrate individual quality vs coaching and tactics - the CL by its nature is the competition of talent(and fitness) more than anything else, other than that, looking at the various eliminations and how they came about, it seems to me like he's not good enough at preparing his teams mentally for these kind of in or out games. They went out this time because of individual mistakes by Vidal against Gladbach and Madrid and because they couldn't score a goal in 180 minutes against donetsk despite dominating and creating more than enough chances to win at least one game. Plus a pinch of sheer bad luck. And if you look at 2013 it was the exact same story - dumb individual mistakes and a bizarre inability to finish, plus some bad luck

Even the elimination at the hands of barcelona with chelsea, same story - dumb mistakes, can't finish, bad luck.

Can't be bothered but it was hilarious. He really went nuclear there, some of the questions were dumb but his behaviour was incredible

Capello shredded his non-answers afterwards and even Costacurta was visibly disappointed and said as much

The best line "We have a plan B but i'm not telling you what it is otherwise our opponents will setup to stop that too"

They aren't that bad comments. He got pissy about the subs question but he seemed to give a fair reason.

He doesn't take criticism well at all though. I am surprised he has had less blow ups than Mourinho who I feel can be similar but does seem a lot more warm. Conte just seems argumentative all the time

Top clubs in CL all have their own defensive mechanism, and attack prowess. The issue with Conte is he's one trick pony, and his tactics are even trickier to get the right type of players. His style is middle of the road. Can be both conceding possession and preying on possession, but the most work is done by the back 5! Playing midfield and forward can be frustrated with plenty of running, and moving but seeing little of the ball.

To struggle so much with their best chance to win the Scudetto since 2011, to go out for another season in the Champions League group stage, they have gone backwards so much in their performances and the club have given him so much power in the transfer market again therefore it is a fair reason to say "Conte must improve the results and performances in the next 3-4 weeks or he must be sacked".
Well done :smirk:

Conte really took that 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford a few years ago hard to say hes trying to sign Lingard off the back of it.

Darmian, Young, Lukaku, Sanchez & now Lingard.

Its beyond a joke!

I’d rather Conte goes for Rojo, but wouldn’t mind if he took Lingard.

he really loves a PL reject.

I actually think Lingard would do well there. Could be a good live for him. Obviously much prefer a perm transfer.

Loan? Loan?? No, no signore Conte, per favore comprato Lingard, compratoooo. Grazie. Comprare? Compra? O ffs, have to brush on my italian..

Ps it's compralo signor conte

I wonder where that Chelsea fan who demanded we went all in on backing Conte has gone.
Tbf, Conte won things with your club, for Inter he hasn`t really done much.

Outside of Lukaku have the other former United players been a success for him and Inter ?

I didn't know that Juve got knocked out in the group stage in 13/14.
I remember that game because it cost me a shitload of money. It was played on a snowy pitch in Istanbul when Juventus got knocked out by Galatasaray with a combo of Wesley Sneidjer scoring from an assist by Dider Drogba. The match was replayed in the 32nd minute as the first game had too much snow.

What exactly does Lingard offers more than Eriksen ? Sometimes, I am too confused to understand certain things in soccer.
