Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather | Again?

If Mayweather wants it enough, he could end this in the first round. Maybe he'll throw the wannabe McGregor a bone though to keep things interesting
Throw him a bone? If McGregor gets a sniff at all he will knock Floyd out. Unlikely to get that sniff though but I'd hate to bet against McGregor.

Condors unorthodoxy is the only question mark I have against an easy points win for Money, but he's up against the master boxer. I just can't see it but it's intriguing.....

No, he won't lol. There's always a chance he gets a lucky punch in I suppose but it's an extremely unlikely event bordering on impossible. This farce will last only as long as Mayweather wants it to last.

Chances are there's an agreement between the two to keep it respectable.

There's no question about this imo
I said it right at the beginning of this thread, the outcome will be pre agreed, it's wwe in all but name

Whilst I think it's all a bit sad from a purists POV (for both boxing and mma) the fact they've got so many people interested in this farce justifies it in some way I suppose.

I wouldn't rule anything out but mayweather will probably win as I doubt he'd be willing to throw his 0 away even for the money on offer however I really wouldn't be surprised if he fell over at some point to build the story, I think the fight will be staged in such a way to potentially set up a rematch. Maybe a conor DQ

If this was a genuine fight (boxing) it's over in 30sec

If McGregor really was as fearless as his fans love to claim, or if he really believed in his "I am boxing" nonsense, he'd have gone in there against Golovkin, Canelo or Pacquiao. Boxers who would no doubt knock him clean out inside the first round.

The thing that annoys me about McGregor fans that jumped on the bandwagon around the Siver fight are two fold:

1. They always try to educate people on MMA. I have many friends who can't even name the likes of Machida, Chuck Liddell, Rampage Miguel Torres etc. Fairly recent fighters who have been very influential to MMA history yet they sit there and try and school me on MMA and can't take anyone's opinion on board because their head is so far up McGregor's bum hole.

2. you can be a McGregor fan but why do they write like he speaks? E.g. Fook Mayweather, McGregor will take his head clean off. Go around calling everyone a bum. Give me a break.

I mean, most these guys think Eddie Alvarez is some bum off the streets because McGregor beat him so soundly... seriously? Eddie Alvarez is now a bum? Just because you started watching MMA yesterday?

Bang on.

I find any MMA/Boxing fan who become a fanboy of any fighter weird. Personally I find sports involving an individual different to team sports, I'm an MMA Fan first, and there are some fighters I like more than others but once that fight starts I just want to see the best win.

Do fight fans from other countries find McGregor fans as irritating as we do in Ireland?
Not at all

Before McGregor came about, people in Ireland looked at fans of MMA like they had two heads. Now the sport has gained a much bigger following and is more accepted

Don't see any issues with that

Don't really see why Mayweather would agree to something like that.

I don't think that's fair. He's looking for the biggest payday, that's all. If he could have earned as much from fighting anyone else than I'm sure he'd have been up for it.

Conors self belief is inspiring and it's 100% real too. I was listening to a live interview yesterday evening on 'Off The Ball' with the lad Conor brought in for sparring (not gonna attempt spell his name cause I'm on my phone) but in short they played back an interview from the same lad back in December where he was 3/4 minutes laughing and non stop bashing the absolute shit out of McGregor and the thoughts of him and his chances in a boxing match with Mayweather. Same lads tune has completely changed now after a few weeks in camp with Conor. Very interesting interview and another insight into the mind of Conor, his self belief and his work rate all of which is very real.

Paulie Malignaggi? He was on Second Captains a couple of months ago as well saying McGregor had no chance and trying to train him up in a few months was like trying to prepare a tiger to fight a shark in water. His tune changed within about a day of being within the team and sparring with McGregor because he can't be involved and say he has no chance. McGregor surely does have no chance, Mayweather may be 40 now and not fought for a while but he's one of the greatest of all time and such an intelligent boxer whilst McGregor is learning a new craft entirely (I'm also not completely convinced by the standard/validity of the UFC, in one of McGregor's more recent fights he knocked a guy down in the first round with little more than a slap).

Paulie has left Conor's training camp due to the pics getting released.
No harm to Paulie but he's in the spotlight far too often for a sparring partner, maybe now isn't the time to be holding court over Conor's punching power etc.
Take it for what this is but Ive been talking to a friend of James Gallagher and he told me that Paulie walked into the sparring session expecting to school Conor despite being told theyre bringing in real refs etc and treating it like fight night. Paulie thought he could get away with a lack of fitness but that didn't work out.
Apparently Conor's boxing Paulie up but he puts too much into it and its pacing thats the problem. Paulie only seems to come alive when Conor gets tired and it hurts his ego.
Again take it for what it is, rumours leaking back to his gym in Ireland

Hmm sounds like it was a bit of a set up in my eyes. Paulie gets off the plane and into a 12 round fight, suddenly there is an audience, Conor's photographer release the good photos. Obviously they want McGregor to come out the camp looking the better one of the two, but it's a bit disrespectful to Paulie to leak all these photos making it seem that he took a beating.

Sounds like BS to me. Paulie is upset because in the fight game it is hugely disrespectful to go telling tales about sparring, let alone releasing photos. Paulie also claims he was pushed over by McGregor for one of the shots and that they are edited to make Conner look good. He has called for them to release the full unedited video.

Team Paulie

Not really. McGregor's stunt would be one of a real sad act if he was a real boxer. As it is, it is just a publicity stunt to make some dopes think he has a chance and to part with their hard earned money to buy the PPV.

Even if he did legit beat up Paulie it would mean little as Paulie was out of shape and McGregor has been training for months.

Remember when there was talk of Mayweather making a fight with Spadafora after Floyd was beaten up by him in sparring? It was the same dynamic, Floyd was out of shape and Spadafora was well into a training camp. It looked at one point that team Mayweather were actually going to try and sell that BS fight too.

@Classical Mechanic
The only one talking about sparring has been Paulie though?
Hes basically held 2 press conferences and has been on Schaubs show twice in a week talking about it.
Conor may have released a few pics as a ploy but Paulie has been rabbiting on about his overrated power, his basic grown up strength etc.
Im lost as to why Paulie couldn't just shut up about it

Probably because for his pride it's pretty embarrassing for a non boxer to be claiming he's kicking the shit out of him by releasing photos, especially when said photos are meant to be fabricated. I'm pretty sure most people if they were in that position would come out and say it's a lie.

Conor and his team may not physically be talking about it on podcasts etc but his global reach on stuff like twitter and Instagram is millions so it's getting plenty of eyes on his claims.

I never expected Leicester to win the title. I never expected Trump to become president. I never expected Brexit to actually happen. I didn't even believe Neymar's transfer until the very end.

My point: I won't rule out a McGregor win at this point. Life's become too weird in the past 2 years.

Pauli has actually been pretty complimentary from what I have heard, the comment on the power might be fair coming from a man who has been in there with Cotto etc.

Paulie can't shut up in general. It is his personality. Great commentator though.

It's working

Does anyone if I can order the fight if I have BT vision YouView box?

Paulie was on the MMA hour and confirmed all of this. so I'm an ITK now, do I dress any differently? Set up a twitter account? Look down on you all?

I've lost a lot of respect for Conor. His attitude over this whole Paulie Malignaggi situation is trash and I'm looking forward to Mayweather putting an end to this whole thing.

It's all a bit odd. I know Malignaggi is nowhere near the level of Mayweather but he's a former world champion and his hugely knowledgeable about the sport (he's probably the best boxing pundit about) and to bring him in, get no advice and just try beat him up is a bit odd.

Interesting hearing Paulie on the MMA hour though, he seems genuine in everything he has said.

Also him saying about McGregor basically sulking when it's not going his way and his coach even eluded to that in his book in McGregors early days.

It's going to be so different to the octagon, a 5 minute round can really swing both ways. I can imagine McGregor just getting completely frustrated if he loses the first 4 rounds. Those 3 min rounds will fly by and Conor might not have even landed anything significant.

Conor has repeatedly said he doesn't want to spar, he's bringing in a ref etc and wants to treat them like legitimate fights so it's no surprise that's what he's doing. Unless Paulie was brought in as a coach but he wasn't.
Just shut up and spar.
I also don't believe the yes men nonsense. He has a close inner circle from day 1 and you have to earn his trust to find a way in. He's one of the most open minded mma fighters out there, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. Maybe Conor listening to something Paulie doesn't agree with makes him a yes man?
Paulie has contradicted himself so much its embarrassing quite frankly
