Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather | Again?

They are very pointless. The only thing Mayweather cares about is money and hes much richer than Connor, earns more per fight etc. Just isn't going to wind him up.

People need to stop taking this so seriously, just enjoy the entertainment, i'm finding it quite funny.

If you go through this thread prior to the tour, I said the exact same thing. Buuuuuut, everything about it is super cringe, the fake entourage v entourage clash was the worst.

I was hoping for a more traditional Q&A, proper back and forth banter.

So far, the most genuinely entertaining thing to happen was Conor and Floyd Sr.'s encounter.

Making it rain on the stripper - 10-8 Mayweather

New York crowd was garbage though. Totally sucked the energy out of the occasion.

They had to wait for 2 hours to be fair and put up with that god awful rapper before the fighters came out.

Shows you the difference once again between a Canadian and American crowd, they were waiting almost the same length of time in Toronto but the crowd was fecking electric.

Saw an interview with mayweather claiming mcgregor used the word monkey?

Conor shot himself in the foot by going at 50 in NY/Brooklyn. Crowd hardly reacted to him after that. Tonight's presser in London should be great.

Said dancing monkeys or something along those lines. Absolutely nothing to see and it's just the media trying to make something out of nothing acting as if it was a racist remark when it's clear as daylight to any sane person it wasn't.

Yeah, I thought I heard the commentary team mention something along those lines. Really crappy from both fighters.

Wouldn't surprise me. He's made questionable comments before.

When things aren't going his way he'll start lashing out, like today when he tried to knock Floyd cap off and we already know he's got no filter.

All seems very forced to be honest. I'm a huge McGregor fan, and I actually think in the build up to fights with guys like Aldo, Mendez, Diaz, he genuinely didn't like them, and it showed. I don't get that in this tour, I don't feel that genuine mutual hatred of each other, and to compensate for that they are forcing it and overdoing it. Also there has been 2 many stops too quickly together, which hasn't helped. The crowd in NY were terrible. London will probably reinvigorate the whole thing, as you know the crowd there will be nuts. Get the talking over as it's all going a bit WWE. Both men are legends in their own rite, I don't think we need the panto sideshow to promote it. One promo event stateside, and one in Britain/Ireland would have been suffice imo.

Agree with most you say but not sure on the bolded point. I don't get any impression he disliked Mendes in particular they were complimentary to each other after the fight and Conor has since gone on to be pretty friendly with Faber as well since TUF. Diaz they seemed to have quite a bit of respect but just knew how it worked in terms of promotion. Again I'm not sure with Aldo, he's always maintained any hype has been just that and it's selling the fight. Both of them are good at doing it here so it works well together, Mendes and Aldo in particular out of the 3 you named were awful at it so it meant Conor would have to pretty much do it himself to sell the fights which may explain why it could come off as dislike. I don't know if I'm right or just talking bollocks though.

There's no hatred of one another at all. Nor was there much during Conor's UFC fights. Its all an act to hype up the masses so he makes more on the back end via PPV points.

The Mayweather-Conor stuff is even worse than the worst WWE stuff. Absolutely shambolic.

There's absolutely no way that in the last 7/8 years mcgregor hasn't looked up to mayweather as a bit of an idol, especially as far as movement is concerned. It's all fake and I imagine they are gonna have to at least shove each other in London for this to ignite some more interest

Half expecting Conor to do a Jerry Maguire and scream "I love black people!!"

The New York one looks shite, just lacked atmosphere and you can tell that Conor was obviously expecting something to bounce off of.

The crowd were reasonably good when he first came on, then-like most people with any ounce of sense- they realized his speech was just shite and pointless so they became an understandably boring crowd.

It's an odd way to do these world tours?...when I initially heard about the different venues I thought it would be over 4-5 weeks. With every word shared on the web it just seems a bit much over 4 days.

Just saw the press conference from last night - yeah, a big feck you to McGregor tbh.

I think I agree with this.

He's more stupid than malicious but it's definitely a bad thing to have such a high profile character come out with the stuff he's been coming out with.
Great article.

Its hard to explain the offense caused by McGregor's comments but I think that article did a good job. It really hasn't helped that Conor has been getting away with similarly offensive comments towards RDA and Aldo, with MMA media just laughing it off.

I read a good similie for this fight, it's like a triathlete going up against Michael phelps in the pool.

The stuff to Aldo about riding into villages on horseback is really shitty, coming from someone who was born in a country with its own history of colonial exploitation. McGregor seems to think he can say what we want because he's Irish and Irish people have coped with similar shit over the years. It doesn't work that way though.

Only the political correct dryshites (people with too much time on their hands) would have a problem with anything McGregor comes out with.

Stereotyping & sexualising both black men and women, in an attempt to justify previous potential racist remarks?
Yeah, political correctness gone mad that.

It’s a shame we won’t get one of those ‘Gloves are Off’ things they do on Sky Sports. I think they’re fascinating to watch.

yeah that's one of the better ones to be fair. David Haye give possibly the worst comparisons I have heard when he said it's like David Beckham going up against Kobe Bryant in a 1 v 1 in basketball.

According to the Mirror both McGregor and Mayweather were spotted getting off the same private jet?

I knew it was a work but daaaamn. Theyre seemingly not even trying now.

What a huge cringefest this is. But hey, they need to hype it up.

He wasn't stereotyping or sexualizing black people, he was paying them compliments. If everyone that came out with comments similar to his were deemed racists well then the world would be absolutely full to the gills with racists.

No need to be so sensitive about things like that. McGregor is only having a laugh. There's no harm meant.

It is kind of amazing that you can have two guys go on a world tour of hurling abuse at each other without even the slightest hint of real animosity or tension. Even knowing the fight is a joke and knowing they're both in on the act, you'd think they'd fake it better.

They're not reliable with football transfers so why would they be reliable with something like that

It's not even worth typing the response I was in the middle of typing.

I would suggest that since you're not black yourself, you shouldn't speak on, or try to decide what is or isn't insulting to black people, and not to say things like 'no need to be sensitive' also, thanks in advance.
