Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather | Again?

What feckin joke this is. Cross code fights are a bit like a football team taking on a rugby team in a rugby match. I predict that Mayweather probably won't knock McGregor out, but McGregor will either be disqualified or lose all 12 rounds.

I fail to see how this can be relevant since they will basically limit McGregor to 30% of his game with it being fought as a straight up boxing match?

Mayweather might be the greatest boxer of all time, of course he'll feck McGregor up.

They should do a compromise and allow kicking and elbows\knees but not grappling and going to the ground, would be more interesting.

They probably want to save that for the rematch.

You are right, they'll probably play it out as a whole PR thing with McGregor questioning the validity of Mayweathers inevitable win due to limitations, and challenging him again to an all or nothing fight with those things allowed.

PPV and commercial income from this stuff must be astronomical.

I think against most boxers McGregor would have a great chance, i'd never underestimate him, hell of a punch he's got. But as said, Mayweather is just one of the all time greats, he'll not let McGregor get near him.

Actually think it'll be a boring tactical fight.

Even guys like Frankie Gavin and Sam Eggington would destroy him.

I think it would be harder to read, what with McGregors unknown style and with no real boxing history for them to study. Someone like Mayweather will just adapt in the ring without a second thought if the gameplan somehow goes to shit, because he's just that good.

But i guess we just don't know, that's the fun part :)

I can't believe people are saying that this is all a circus and they won't watch. Who the hell doesn't like a circus?!

If Conor wins he will be instantly catapulted to Muhammad Ali levels. That said, I think Hatton has it spot on.

I honestly can't see McGregor getting anywhere near Mayweather in this, but I'll still put a few quid on McGregor because if anyone can pull off some crazy result to shock the world it's him.

I heard a better analogy. It's like one of the Brownlee brothers taking on Michael Phelps in a swimming race.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the public.

After McGregor vs Mayweather, then Lebron James vs Lionel Messi at one on one Basketball.

McGregor vs Mayweather under UFC rules would be much more entertaining.
I hear people saying this a lot, and I understand the logic, but it really wouldn't be any better. It's simple. At boxing, Floyd beats Conor every time. The reverse is true of a UFC matchup where Conor would win every time.

Without question, Floyd's chances of beating McGregor in the octagon are much greater than Conor's chances of beating him in the squared circle. Prolly double or triple the odds, of the reverse happening at least. Work on Floyd's takedown defense, and he's always got a puncher's chance even when not known for his power.

Some of the comments on Conor's Facebook posts are entertaining. Some people think Conor has got this locked up

I'd go with Messi, his dribbling skills are second to none and I don't think Lebron can handle his pace.

Oh I didn't mean it'd be more of a contest, just that in a purely petulant way, it would be kinda funny to witness Floyd in a headlock or something.

Maybe so but the problem is Floyd was never the one who challenged for the fight, McGregor and the UFC wanted it so it's on Floyd's terms (and he's the much bigger name to.)

The UFC was clearly encouraging Ronda to talk shit about Mayweather as it increased her status by using his name and Conor did the same. The "new" UFC under WME is a lot about this kind of exposure so I'd guess they were never to bothered about Conor doing it either. If I had to guess I would assume their biggest frustration is they are a pretty small part of the whole thing by the sounds of it.

I dont agree at all

But itll be hard to prove

I can't see it. There are pro fighters who train takedown defence every day for years and still end up on their back. He's never been kicked in his life either. He's outweighed by at least 15 pounds, has brittle hands, and to win he would literally have to one-shot-KO someone who's never been knocked out (and has fought guys 20+ pounds heavier than Mayweather).

Has anyone ever talked themselves into a bigger fight than McGregor? 0-0 amateur boxer fighting one of the greatest to step in the ring. These two will be laughing all the way to the bank, I can guarantee the build up will be entertaining and hostile/aggressive whatever but they will kiss and make up after the fight. It's all pre-planned.

McGregor makes $75m regardless, more than he has made his career so far and it's a shame because he will never have to fight again...and probably won't.

If this goes beyond two or three rounds then it becomes embarrassing for Mayweather.
