Conor Gallagher | Atlético Player

Yet if we sold him for £45-50M we would get slaughtered even though its brilliant money for him.

He’s a pretty good all round player with incredible work rate. A more sensible Fred if you will with better goal scoring.

These aren’t the stats of a crap player.

He isnt crap but he's not even Fred. Fred at least made a lot of tackles and has better technique to control and pass the ball around. Gallagher is your average workman midfielder, he had that purple patch at Palace where he went on a goalscoring streak but thats years ago now. Its safe to say thats what it was, a good patch of goals and now he's a player with average technique and touch who wins the ball a few times, but not enough to be a good ball winner.

I have no love for Gallagher, but I feel like he’s become a scapegoat for the subpar tactical decisions of Southgate. He’s a physical squad player with high work rate. He will do what is asked of him with no questions asked. He’s certainly not a first 11 player - he's the type of player you bring on when trying to see out a game.

Not agasin't it, but he should be a squad player.
Not necessarily. He is still a kid. Has good attributes to become a solid midfielder. Towards the end of the season he really became a solid option. We have conference cup as well coming season. We need him.

Christ we are calling 24 year olds “kids”

He’s Scott McTominay. Tries hard, shows “passion”, good inside the box, but generally poor at actual midfielder stuff and doesn’t have a clear defined position in a good side.

How’s Southgate managed to reset to Euro 2012 with players like him, pisses me off

You rate Gallagher, I suppose? What is he supposed to be good at?

What I find bizarre is that he’s the one that gets a new thread despite only just playing 30 mins in a sea of atrocious performances all over the pitch. Feels to me that Gallagher is as bit of a target because you feel he’s taking Mainoo’s opportunities?

He’s good at many things. They wont be visible in an England shirt because Southgate uses him incorrectly in my opinion, but that context also applies to quite a few England players, so it’s bizarre that Gallagher gets piled on for not showing sparkling football in a Southgate team everyone agrees is awfully set up and awfully coached.

Feel free to make a thread on another player.

Gallagher stood out to me because you hope he brings something as a sub and it's just doesn't happen, he's just a nothing player.

Complete nothing player and is an arrogant twat to boot, yet Chelsea will probably end up getting £40-50 million for him this summer which Boehly will spunk on the latest flavour of the month.

I think it is almost impossible to evaluate how good a player is at the current Chelsea. That even goes for Palmer, whether he is good or potentially great, he obviously had a great season. With Gallagher, he looked a top player at loan at Palace so I'm not surprised clubs trying to break into the top tier of the league are interested in him.

I don’t want to make another thread. I’m commenting in the one you made and offering my opinion.

Ok. You said he's good at many things. What are those things?

He’s got a good shot on him. Left foot, right foot, he can shoot well and in the right system can be a reliable source of goals and assists. His delivery is good, so he’s a good option for corners and free kicks. He’s a pressing machine. He’s off the ball work is, to me, several tiers better than every midfielder the England squad apart from Rice.

When you say he’s a nothing player, do you mean he’s good at literally nothing?

Did he? He had a few month purple patch of goalscoring form where it looked like he has a good shot on him. Technically, he never looked like a top player.

This situation reminds me of Mctominay in the early Ole days where he had some decent periods where a lot of us had convinced ourselves he was quite a good player with his workrate, harrying, keep things simple, can strike a ball clean when has a sight of goal. We'd hoped that he'd develop the technical side of his game but it never came. And it never came because he just wasn't talented, and players who are going to be good on the ball are usually good on the ball from the get-go.

Gallagher may be more talented than Mctominay but still just doesn't have the touch or passing to be a top player from what I've seen. He seems destined to be a mid-table workhorse type player.

I see him as a player you play to get busy in the face of oppo players , disrupt them. I don't think he's the type who brings composure .

I have not yet seen those good qualities but OK.
