Cole’s new album is incredible.

I’m a Stan, so I guess my unbiased opinion isn’t really valid :annoyed:
I'm not a massive fan but listened on the way to work today and thought it was good at first listen.

Thoughts on J Cole guys?

Currently on Kevin's Heart and it sounds like value brand Kendrick album, this is the first time I've listened to Cole for a sizeable amount of time since Sideline Story however. The critical difference between Kendrick and Cole is that Kendrick largely understands the value of sonics to convey specific emotions whereas Cole just sounds like he's saying stuff for the sake of saying stuff.

Some better stuff on the last third of the Cole album, I kind of like Once An Addict but overall it's not for me. He's quite a good producer mind.

Cole’s album is much better on the second listen. The last few songs are very good, really liked 1985.

Yeah a few people have made the comparisons with Kendrick, with Cole falling short.

Its not a bad album, and it’s refreshing because good new music always is. But will I be listening to this in 6 months? I doubt it.

He just doesn’t leave me wanting more anymore.

A few people have said it, but it really encapsulates Cole.

It isn't a bad album, it's just doesn't have any replayability beyond a couple listens. No songs get put onto my main playlist.

I really don't like the song or video to ATM by the way.

I've had window pain on repeat. The rest of the album might grow on me as usual with Cole.

I like the album. Agree that replayability is a big problem though. I find some of the hooks annoying as feck because there's so much repetition within.

There's only so many times you can listen to 'this is what you call a flip', 'motivate' x100, and 'count it up, count it up, count it up, count it' x1000.

It'll get a few plays over the next few days, but longer term, don't think I'll be listening to it I'm 3 months time. Others have said similar about old Cole projects too, and when I come to think of it, it's generally been the same for me.

Cole World was the exception.

Haven’t heard it yet, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to J Cole. I really enjoyed Forest Hills but never gave 4 yours eyez only any time after the first listen.

J Cole’s new album is meh. Couple good tracks. Maybe influenced by my girlfriend saying “why are you listening to something so dreary and droning. I prefer you listening to that Takashi crap than this”

I’ll probably be into it at another time. Just not in a Cole mood at all.

This is growing on me with more listens. There are no bangers other than ATM but KOD, Kevin's Heart, Window Pain, 1985 are all nice tracks.

I gave Cardi B's album a listen and was quite surprised by how much I liked it.
I cannot stand her. I dunno what it is, but she just doesn’t do it for me.

Just listened to Beerbongs & Bentley’s. I liked it, but of the two albums I’ve listened to this week... KOD > B&B

That said, I’m still unashamedly a Post fan, so there is that.

B&B is extremely samey but also full of sleeper hits that will probably last for ages. Is a bit too long though, I think 10 or 11 songs is perfect for an album. Seeing 17 or 18 tracks just puts me off.

Busy day today, Book Of Ryan, Sr3mmlife, Swaecation, Jxmtro and new Styles P all dropped today, how the hell am i going to find time to listen to all of them?

I realise I'm about a year late but I've only just heard J.I.D's album, one of J Coles signings.

Absolutely incredible, kind of like an early Kendrick flow wise but has a similar voice to Anderson .Paak. Definitely about 10x more interesting than Cole himself imo.

Older heads have described Gambino's last album as a very good Parliament/Funkadelic cover. Kind of dulled my interest in it.
I think that's a good enough description of it. But you have to give it a listen and make your own mind up.

Pusha T's Daytona is out. Only 20 minutes but it's great. Kanyes production is brilliant.

ASAP Rocky has an album out too. Not listened yet but looking forward to it

The production on the Pusha album is great, but honestly I was disappointed overall.

I'm just over him talking about dope dealing in a variety of ways.

The Kanye production stands out but yeah Pusha's rapping was a bit boring.

Rocky's is a bit better but I've never been a massive fan of his. Brotha Man is good though, partly cause of Frank.

Stand out songs for me the past few weeks have been Shoota by Carti and Watch by Travis. Oh and the CDQ Bubbin' by Paak.
