Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

Well it faded off after the 50 and ja line so im guessing he's waiting for drake to hit back

He should have started with that flow at the end,Drake doesn't even have to respond to that, all he needs to do is drop another hit before his album and the whole world will forget about this beef.

Some of the abuse Meek is getting on twitter/Instagram is hilarious

Since we're talking about commercial hip hop here: Li'l Dicky has gone professional today.

Well the timing of this is... interesting.

Game also wearing the Blue Jay's jersey, same team in the Back to Back artwork.

I finally got around to the Meek track, what the feck was that, that's one of the worst diss songs I've ever heard, the structure was awful (though if Meek wants to just make a normal song over Jahlil Beats instrumental at the start with the Undertaker theme I would most definitely like that). But damn Meek, I thought you was gonna step up:

I feel like how Beanie felt there.

'Pray the real live forever man/Pray the fakes get exposed', the gall of this Drake motherfecker heh.

The Game is the best rapper in the last decade or so in my eyes. Not bothered about all "the beef", Drake ruins that song a little for me but Game still kicks it.

I have a lot of thoughts about this Drake/Meek thing but I really don't care for any of the songs that have come about nor any of the social media shit (big up all the companies tweeting about this for their brand when they don't give two shits about hip-hop). However I will say that I think the art of MC'ing is pretty much dead now, there's a lot of rappers about but no MC's anymore. A lot of how you react to this ghostwriting stuff depends on the regard you hold Drake and admittedly for me it's not particularly high.

Also lest we forget he completely ripped off Gucci Mane's flow on 6 Man (via Chief Keef maybe, hence the album liner shoutout):

Nah, I don't think there's anything to it but Drake has been awfully calculated whilst Meek has opened Pandora's box and doesn't really seem what to do now.

Oh no I didn't say there was anything to it, I just said it's interesting the content of the song, the imagery & the references given the timing.

Drake was very calculated - the artwork, the date he released the track, the bottles. Meek should've taken an extra day to catch up, but it's too late now.

Game at his best when The Documentary dropped was brilliant, nowhere near being the best rapper of the last decade though.

Wanna know is a solid diss record (if you just read the lyrics), the song is terrible though.

But feck it I've been waiting for a new Dr.Dre album since Eminem said him and 50 were gonna make him finish Detox on the outro of Encore in 2004(?), feck that's a long time and damn I can't believe I actually bought Encore.

I've still got that track on one of my playlists. Makes me laugh every time I hear it now. 'We're gonna make Dre do it'

Just googled Anderson Paak and Justus and they are not random west coast weed carriers and they better only doing hooks otherwise I am worried.

But Cold 187um is on it (Above The Law), maybe it will be some classic g-funk shit.

Thought it was the actual soundtrack for the movie but it's unrelated:eek:

Deserves it's own thread

No brainer for me, absolute beast (even with the odds against him). The Doctor's Advocate his best album btw

Expected a few beats/songs from Dre for the films soundtrack but not a whole album from him. As @ArmchairCritic said, I've also been waiting for Derox since Encore so really looking forward to this. Just hope most of them aren't co-produced with Dj Khalil as I'm not a big fan of his sound really so want some of that old school sampling from Dre with his drums all over the instrumentals.

Is there going to be another soundtrack to the film and this is something else on the side?

It's all opinions but I don't really listen to anything other than late 80's, and 90's hip-hop and The Game along with early Eminen and the current crop of Top Dawg is the only "new" rappers I regularly play.

Currently listening to Dre's latest Pharmacy episode, first one I've listened to and it's cracking. Wish he dropped at least one song from that album but it doesn't seem as if he has done that just yet which is pretty shite. Still, gets you in the mood for his new stuff.
