The boy can rap, the boy can rap,the boy can rap.

Meek really should have responded to the first one, his career's on the line now.

A diss song and a club song all in one.

Meek is on tour. It would be difficult for him to do a quality response now. He played this poorly. He should have factored that in before he went at Drake.

This is where being "soft" gives Drake a huge advantage, the whole industry has been taking shots at him for singing, he raps about his life most of the time, and he isn't about that street life - wasn't poor either, but we all know that.

He already alleged that he doesn't write his songs in a tweet (another L), Meek loves to rap about that street shit, well good luck with that, i don't think Drake is worried about choppers gunning him down in Philly (besides isn't Meek on probation?)

If it's not a great response it's an L, but I trust Meek.

He just needed 4 quality bars as a warning diss to trounce charged up,he didn't even need to go in, but the whole world has forgotten about charged up now so any response would be to B2B and it would have to be great.

He also doesn't have what to say anymore

can't talk about Nicki and Meek milking her (he already did, twice)
can't talk about Money (it's pointless, he has way more money than Meek, so it's not going to sting)
can't talk about the streets(it's Drake)

Man, making a diss record is really difficult these days, with social media and google and all.

Nas managed to come back from Takeover. KRS-One came back from Kill That Noise. It's not impossible for Meek Mill to come back from this, as wild as social media is right now. Just drop a few clever lines and surround it with threats at Drake's moms.

Or actually send some goons to Toronto with chairs and bottles.

Yeah, he should go with the second option.

Despite all the talk about how soft he is and what not, it's been clear for a minute that no rapper out there really wants it with Drake. He's been saying as much for a couple years about how he's just waiting for someone to try him, and I knew Meek wasn't going to get away with this. That said, it's not over so who knows. Meek has to respond by tomorrow latest though, or it may be too late for him.

I don't think it's as dramatic as all the 'Drake ended his career' talk though. I think the only way that can really happen in rap is when another rapper goes after your street credibility and kills that. All the other shit is just other shit.

I think the social media hype is a bit over the board, but i also believe that if certain artists dropped "back to back",certain hip hop heads would respect the track more, it's also 2015.

Ether wouldn't have been Ether if it dropped in this decade.

What's your all time fav diss record though?

Nothing can top Ether, surely?
Having 'pac saying 'f**k Jay-z' immortalised on a record forever is huge in itself and nobody can replicate it.
Then literally every line is a diss, even the comical lines. I still call my brother a Tai Bo hoe

Still largely filled with childish insults, but yeah it's up there.

No rapper wants it with Drake? Pusha T did and got no response at all.

He responded on NWTS (albeit subliminally) but you can't fault that since Pusha T also came at him (mainly Weezy) subliminally and still doesn't directly acknowledge the diss in interviews.

Lol and as usual after every rap beef on twitter you get the tired " dont go into a rap battle with Eminem" talk, not to take anything away from the god but 8 mile really made people believe he is the GOAT when it comes to battles/beefs etc

Am I the only one who doesn't really understand how beef ends careers? I know that it does, we've all seen plenty of evidence of it. But I don't really get how to does. It's weird to me that people stop listening to a certain rapper that they like just because someone arguably dissed him better than he dissed that guy. I can understand how it'd hurt the rappers pride and make their career dip a bit but for a career to be basically ended over it is something that surprises me. I suppose commercial entities wouldn't want to be associated with the rapper who was perceived to 'lose' the beef, so their career kind of just dwindles away without a platform to stay relevant. Yeah I think I've answered my own question there.

The Bitch in Yoo is pretty good, as well as Ice Cube/Westside Connection's diss towards Common.

Nothing tops Cam'ron's diss track towards Jay Z. The laughter at the end kills me every time.

"I'm laughing at your ugly ass no homo
"You UGLY dawg, YOU UGLY!!
"You soo UGLYY"

No it wasn't, is the short response.

Playground disses vs. facts, I was always an Ether guy too but then I grew up and was like damn Takeover aged way better, obviously at the time Ether had more impact but I think a lot of that had to do with Nas sounding like Nas again after 2 poor albums.

The internet makes rap beef really corny really quickly. I have zero motivation for a Meek response track.

@ArmchairCritic it's a false criticism that's been making the rounds recently. There was a lot of "faggot" and "cocksucker" jabs but there were some heavy blows there as well. Ice Cube had many gay barbs at NWA but that didn't make his diss track less potent. Looking through the lyrics there's little fat (highlighted in red). I could break it down but that would take all day.

Brace yourself for the main event
Y'all impatiently waiting
It's like an AIDS test, what's the results?
Not positive, who's the best? Pac, Nas and Big
Ain't no best, East, West, North, South, flossed out, greedy
I embrace y'all with napalm
Blows up, no guts, left chest, face gone
How could Nas be garbage?
Semi-autos at your cartilage
Burner at the side of your dome, come outta my throne
I got this, locked since '9-1
I am the truest, name a rapper that I ain't influenced
Gave y'all chapters but now I keep my eyes on the Judas
With Hawaiian Sophie fame, kept my name in his music
Check it

I've been fecked over, left for dead, dissed and forgotten
Luck ran out, they hoped that I'd be gone, stiff and rotten
Y'all just piss on me, shit on me, spit on my grave (uh)
Talk about me, laugh behind my back but in my face
Y'all some "well wishers," friendly acting, envy hiding snakes
With your hands out for my money, man, how much can I take?
When these streets keep calling, heard it when I was sleep
That this Gay-Z and Cockafella Records wanted beef

Started cocking up my weapon, slowly loading up this ammo
To explode it on a camel, and his soldiers, I can handle
This for dolo and it's manuscript, just sound stupid
When KRS already made an album called Blueprint

First, Biggie's ya man, then you got the nerve to say that you better than Big
Dick sucking lips, why not you let the late, great veteran live

Y'all niggas deal with emotions like bitches
What's sad is I love you 'cause you're my brother
You traded your soul for riches
My child, I've watched you grow up to be famous
And now I smile like a proud dad, watching his only son that made it
You seem to be only concerned with dissing women
Were you abused as a child, scared to smile, they called you ugly?
Well life is hard, hug me, don't reject me
Or make records to disrespect me, blatent or indirectly
In '88 you was getting chased through your building
Calling my crib and I ain't even give you my numbers
All I did was gave you a style for you to run with
Smiling in my face, glad to break bread with the god
Wearing Jaz chains, no tecs, no cash, no cars
No jail bars Jigga, no pies, no case
Just Hawaiian shirts, hanging with little Chase
You a fan, a phony, a fake, a pussy, a Stan

I still whip your ass, you thirty-six in a karate class
You Tae-bo hoe, tryna' work it out, you tryna' get brolic?

Ask me if I'm tryna' kick knowledge
Nah, I'm tryna' kick the shit you need to learn though
That ether, that shit that make your soul burn slow

Is he Dame Diddy, Dame Daddy or Dame Dummy?
Oh, I get it, you Biggie and he's Puffy

Rockefeller died of AIDS, that was the end of his chapter
And that's the guy y'all chose to name your company after?
Put it together, I rock hoes, y'all rock fellas
And now y'all try to take my spot, fellas?

Philly's hot rock fellas, put you in a dry spot, fellas
In a pine box with nine shots from my glock, fellas

Foxy got you hot 'cause you kept your face in her puss
What you think, you getting girls now 'cause of your looks?

Ne-gro please
You no mustache having, with whiskers like a rat

Compared to Beans you wack
And your man stabbed Un and made you take the blame
You ass, went from Jaz to hanging with Caine, to Herb, to Big
And, Eminem murdered you on your own shit

You a dick-riding faggot, you love the attention

Queens niggas run you niggas, ask Russell Simmons
Ha, R-O-C get gunned up and clapped quick
J.J. Evans get gunned up and clapped quick
Your whole damn record label gunned up and clapped quick
Shawn Carter to Jay-Z, damn you on Jaz dick
So little shorty's getting gunned up and clapped quick

How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips?
Wanted to be on every last one of my classics

You pop shit, apologize, nigga, just ask Kiss

But that was all nixed by the sheer disgust in Jay's voice when he pointed out Nas had the 'worst flow on the whole feckin' song (Oochie Wally)' *shrugs shoulders*. Ether was mostly personal insults with a few interesting tidbits about Un and Kiss but other than that...Jay approached his shit like a PowerPoint presentation.

I'm too young to have been into rap when the Nas/Jay-Z beef was going...but in retrospect, Takeover is an absolute masterpiece of a diss record, its actually a masterpiece of a record regardless of the 'dissing' aspect, while Ether is just mainly petty insults. I mean 'Gay-Z'? Wow, genius.

I honestly don't understand how some people say Ether is/was better.
