Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

Everything counts in this thread, the commercial is just a way of saying "you won't be judged by old hip hop heads for listening to Migos or Future, or the new generation of rap" at least imo, dont know what Paz originally had in mind.
yep!!

A.L.L.A Tracklist - A$AP Rocky.

Who is Joe Fox? 5 features, including one with Kanye, is pretty crazy for him to be on. I'm guessing the Rod Stewart feature is just a sample rather than new material?

Pimp C rapping about getting head off of Sheryl Crow > anything Rocky has rapped about so far.

Is it not a bit tone deaf for Rocky to be rapping about drugs when his best friend just died from an accidental drug overdose?

He a guitarist that rocky meet late one night in london, was sleeping rough and selling cds to get by, they hit it off and started working together, sure hes pretty much moved to the states now

Kanye has been wack since MBDTF.....lowkey.

This verse deserves to be in the trash can

Yeezus getting better with time for me.

I am a God, New Slaves, Hold My Liquor, Im in it, Blood on the Leaves, Guilt Trip and Bound 2 grew on me so much. 7/10 is pretty good. The only thing about it is some of the random screams early on and that stupid sound right at the beginning. But yeah, his recent stuff is not sticking with me.

Thoughts on Fetty Wap?

Think he's got potential. I like the thing he has with his melodies.

Rocky album is very boring to me man. Rappers will rap about sex and clothes until the end of the time but Rocky lacks the charisma (not to mention the actual ability to write songs) to execute this well like a Cam'Ron. We are two albums and a mixtape into his career and we have a great idea what he likes but no idea what he is like. It sounds great but it's just thoroughly joyless stuff to me.

My first listen I got bored quite quickly (like after the 4th track). Second listen was much better, enjoyed the whole thing.

I like Canal St., LSD, Wavybone and Wayne's verse on M's, it's not a 'bad' album but Rocky is just a rapping tumblr to me now.

Rocky isn't that interesting a person, I don't think. But he has a lot of talent, his flow and beat selection have been the reason I've been a fan. I appreciate he has tried something different with this album, I don't dislike any song but I don't particularly love any song either. I'm still listening to it now but it remains to be seen how much replay value it'll have. Still remain a Rocky fan.

I wanted a Long Live ASAP part 2 and that is exactly what I got, the album is kind of what you expect to get from Rocky, Cliche ? Yes, but it beats experimenting imo.

Between Live love,Long Live and this one I have 3 solid projects I can listen to without skipping for 2 hours +, just like Future and Rick Ross' projects.

Not sure I agree with you, A.L.L.A. differs quite a bit from Rocky's two previous projects. He could have given us another album of bangers but I think musically he's gone a different direction with this album.

It's not bad. Chance's transition has impressed me, I didn't think he had it in him to evolve from a drug-trippy rapper.

I know his debut was called Acid Rap but I've never seen him as that, he's similar to a Kendrick but a bit more anxious and almost schizophrenic with the way he change the way he deliver his verses. This album seems to be more about Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment than Chance to be honest.

Hmm. Changes verses? They're normally delivered in that same lullaby-like voice in a quick tempo, with a lot of harmonising. He definitely has that underlying theme of anxiety in his tracks but it's normally missed due to the upbeat rhythms in the tracks or his spirited demeanour. I think he's more like Gambino in that sense - but I do see your Kendrick comparison. And yeah, he's somewhat on the periphery in this. Quite like 'Warm Enough' and 'Wanna Be Cool' so far.

You always get a sense with Chance that's he's just as ready to harmonize and croon as he is about to push against the envelope of the beat and stack his syllables over one another. There's always an alertness in his delivery that keeps you on your toes, I think his adlibs also feed in heavily to the atmosphere he creates in his songs (adlibs are criminally underrated in how much they can add to a song), he makes very subtle changes in cadence throughout his songs for me.

Just got through my first proper listen at full volume with Surf, it's a pretty uplifting album and Chance is like a conductor almost just facilitating and guiding the album. I don't think this is an evolution for Chance as much as it is just a single facet of ability as a rapper, I think his solo album will be emotionally heavier.

Is Surf available anywhere to illegally download that isn't iTunes?

Anyone else heard new Eminem? The second and third verses are classic em, he kills it

Might be alone in thinking this but hes top 5 all time for me, when he puts his mind to it theres very few artists on anywhere near the same level

Edit: link to Phenomenal http://dbr.ee/zekT

Is it another one of those songs for a video game or a movie?

Eminem is top 5 for me aswell, but he needs to chill.

Yep, Eminem hasn't been good in a long time. He's produced some brilliant tracks, I'll agree, but his overall work the past ten or so years has been stale and hasn't aged well. He's one of the greatest but he really needs to try something new I think. He does songs with Rihanna, he'd be rapping about tying her up and assaulting her with Chris Brown in 2001.

What a trash list, Vince Staples and Kidd Kidd have been around for 5+ years, not exactly freshmen.
