Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

Being listen to a lot of Akala lately(mainly the talks and interviews he does) and he views of 'modern' hip hop are definitely the reason I stopped talking any interest it(as well just getting older and taste changin).

Just got back from Miami and Vegas all I was hearing out there was Thugger.

And these

Please if you haven't been go Miami and Vegas and turn up, I'm saving now to go again next year. KOD was an experience in itself

Son of a bitch. I was in Miami Beach Friday and Saturday. We decided against going to KOD... I'm not on that paygrade

Thugger destroyed this wow.

Also Gibbs, Thugger and Ferg on the same song, whew...

Young Thug lowkey the best rapper on the planet right now I don't care.

Crazy how fast he blew up off the back of that song recently, few more decent tracks on his mixtape too.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Lloyd Banks had the beat on one of his tracks that he never released. Bad move.

Thugger and Quan might be the deadliest combination since Yorke and Cole man.

I love hip hop but I'm just not feeling most of this new stuff. I've tried listening to every song on this page and I can't stand them. They all sound the same. There's no diversity. Repetitive rhyming structure. Even the accents sound the same. Compare someone like Nas to any of these guys and it's absolutely laughable.

Take this song for example, you can barely understand what the feck he's saying. Absolute garbage. You know it's best avoided when Adrien Broner makes his ring entrance to it...

No one knows what Thugger be saying in his rhymes . If you're looking for lyrical content you're obviously not going to find it with artists like these, but that shit bumps in the clubs and parties. The beat goes hard and its catchy (annoyingly catchy maybe). This joint is another example, it goes hard and everyone goes crazy for this in the club. There's a place for different type of artists and tracks

It's about to be very quiet for all you Young Thug haters in 2015, this Rich Gang mixtape is pretty damn good.

Anyone heard of Moosh and Twist? Been listening to them lately and I think they are quite good. My mate is always talking about Logic too, only listened a few songs and he sounds pretty good too.

Moosh and Twist have a song with a guy I went to school with too, although I think he is a bit shit. Only made it because he is a little weird looking Asian. There was another rapper at our school that was much better.

They're taking over

Standard frat rap. Not bad, not extraordinary.

Oh that new Wu Tang album is predictably compete garbage. Deleted after a single listen. Rza needs to just let it go. They'll never have that hunger back.

 Great post. Reminds me of Chris Lilley as S Mouse. Although these are actually better songs even as parodies...

Oh and @pocco - you're in the wrong thread really mate. Try Hectics thread and dl Run the Jewels, Hail Mary Mallon and the new Ghostface album.

 Glad you enjoyed my rant mate. Some of the stuff I hear nowadays just pisses me off. I heard people saying that Peewee Longway was the next big thing so thought I'd give him a listen...30 seconds into Sneakin n Geekin I felt like smashing my laptop against the wall.

Will give those albums a listen. RTJ2 is good. Logics Under Pressure album is brilliant. Liked Raekwons latest mixtape. There is still a lot of good music around but it is getting harder to find. A lot of the newer artists seem to be following current trends set by shit artists.

Rapper Earl Hayes shot and killed his girlfriend and himself in what has been ruled a murder-suicide on the 8th of December. He was signed with Timbaland and Floyd Mayweather's Money team. Mayweather was on facetime with him when he committed the gruesome act. Rumor has it they argued about his wife's infidelity. She supposedly had an affair with R&b singer Trey Songz back in 2012. The track below is called 'Sucide', where he contemplates the act and even mentions popping his girl. It was released in 2010 off a mixtape called 'First 48' (reference to a reality cop show about the first 48 hours after a murder/homicide).

He's really been spitting this year. Definitely think he can top Hall of Fame because that wasn't very good.

Rumours Drake about to drop a mixtape as well.

Yeah, his verse in "Detroit vs Everybody" was fire - i think this album might be as good as his classic "Detroit" mixtape even though Em didn't make the final cut.

A new mixtape from Drake would be nice as he finishes up his album, although i am getting bored of his super duper flow, hope he goes back to "So far gone" Drizzy.
