Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

I was a casual follower of the whole "battle rap" scene about a decade ago. Didn't realise he had died. How very sad.

I was heavy into it from like 2006 to 2017 and Pat was the man and one of the best to ever do it.

Kendrick just dropped again.

Somebody stop Compton Kenny

"Trying to strike a chord, it's probably A minor" I'm finished.

Snap Solius.

Kendrick stop, he’s already dead.

Referenced Family Matters so he wrote this today.

The Atlanta coloniser scheme was impressive.

Love the DJ Mustard beat. Can hear the OV-HOE chant in the clubs.

This is unreal I've never seen anything like this. I honestly believe Drake thought he was going to get away with Kendrick not even responding once and instead it's just punch after punch.

This track was Kendricks best diss for the commercial fan. If Kendrick wants to beat Drake he has to do it like this imo. Going too deep puts the mainstream fans off.

He's just trolling at this point  He went and created a West Coast bop with the Cali flow and beat. While having metaphors, punchlines and lyrics still prominent. The whole Atlanta/coloniser scheme was wild. Rap battle mastery, he's switched up his style with every track.

I love New York hip hop, but that Cali vibe just hits differently and they know how to do disses. Drake is coming 4th in a two horse race.

That a-minor line is straight into the hall of fame for me. What a shot.

Although I don't think this will hurt Drake in the long run, this is crazy from Kendrick. Drake will be making love songs but mentioning theyre above the age of consent from now on

Kendrick gonna have Cali feeling like it's the 90s again. At this rate Dre, Cube, Kurupt, and Warren G might all drop.

Listened to that a few times, the beat truly slaps and I can imagine this being played in the clubs with OV-HO and A-Minor being said in unison by the crowd. It can go viral.

I also think the colonizer segment might have other notable hip-hop collaborators thinking...

And drake never using an a-minor chord in any of his songs again

Will depend on the location. West Coast USA clubs definitely but I'm not sure elsewhere. I play to a young (18-25 crowd) every Friday and club crowds definitely prefer Drake's music, especially the girls. It's rare to get a Kendrick request.

Honestly the more you listen to it the dirtier it gets. I'm loving watching Fantano and Akademiks reacting to the disses.

I don’t know if Drake can come back from this but I feel like his ego won’t allow him to not respond

Drake gotta respond. Mentioned going on vacation in Family Matters but there's no way he can just leave it.

Marlo Vs Shuffle T was better battle I think

They’ve all tag team battled each other tbf, but I personally don’t like the alternating line Beastie Boy aesthetic. Seems a bit gimmicky. A battle should always really just be two people.

Shuffle T now runs an online Rhyming game show which is a lot of fun

I think it's best if Drake doesn't respond. You don't want another K.Dot response

Drake gonna be playing flute with Andre 3000 after this battle is over
