Carson Beck entering the transfer portal rather than declaring for the NFL, what’s the reasoning there? Or did he hear from teams that he wouldn’t be considered a first round pick?

Who’s behind him at Georgia that he doesn’t want to stay there?

Gunnar Stockton is apparently the next QB there plus he probably wants more NIL money without having to compete for the UGA starting job and potentially not win it. Also, if he transfers and balls out, he could raise his draft stock for next year and actually become a first rounder, which wouldn't happen if he went pro this year since most services are tracking him as a late 2nd rounder. Cam Ward and Shedeur are being slated as QBs 1 and 2.

You’ll see this more and more. Dillon Gabriel got a bad grade from the NFL and instead of competing with the 5* heir apparent he took the NIL money at Oregon. Worked out well for him, Oregon being a popular destination for Hawaii kids.

Another test case is Ewers, who won’t get a great draft grade and has everyone clamoring to see the next Manning to deal with.

Guessing he's off to Miami to try and raise his draft stock like Cam Ward

Indeed. With NIL now paying college kids, there's no rush to scamper off to the NFL if they don't think they can get drafted as 1st rounders.

Have heard Ewers name mentioned for Miami, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Ole Miss and probably a few more in the coming weeks. Take the 5-6m in NIL and attempt to improve on draft prospects or declare and get drafted in the 3rd-5th rds where the money will be considerably less. He can make in one year in NIL what he'd get in four years as a 3rd rd selection and play for another championship and numerous individual accolades.

This game is rather good. The WR for Notre Dame sent 2 Penn DBs on a one way ticket to the dirt 3 seconds apart from each other.

Penn state, you literally had one job to do and you failed. The only thing worse than the inbred UAT fans are the insufferable Domers.

You think he'd be able to improve his draft prospects at another team?

McElroy: "I'd be aggressive... it's not likely a guy that's gonna put the ball in harm's way..."

Allar immediately throws an INT

I think Ewers has another level to his game that can be brought out next year if he's at the right team, just as Cam Ward vastly improved his numbers and draft stock this year by staying in college. Ditto with Carson Beck. Neither Ewers nor Beck are going to receive top billing in the draft with players like Shedeur, Ward, and Dart already in the mix. Therefore if they transfer to programs that can bring the best out of them, they should be first rounders next year.

I would be pleasantly surprised if he exceeded what he's displayed for Texas to date; he's been a top caliber quarterback in the last 2 years, and he's judged more in the media on what he isn't than what he is. He does need to nail his next move. Think Lane Kiffin would do wonders for him.

I'd gladly take him at the Giants this year, but the NIL money he'd get next year is a no brainer.

Agreed. It would make sense for him to go to Ole Miss. Ewers at UT was always going to be somewhat undercut by the presence of Arch Manning.

He's also been injured for 3/4 of the year, playing through when possible. He came into the year projected as a 2nd round selection that would move into the first round, perhaps top 10 with a great season. That early season injury ended that chance and his subsequent play has been mixed, leading to lower draft prospectus. He goes somewhere that will build around his capabilities, maybe tweak his mechanics - he has a penchant for tipped passes at the line and leaving his deep throws hanging - and we shall see. I can see him improving on current 4th rd projection.

I'd prefer him to not remain in the SEC, of course, but he'd only face Texas in an SEC title game and/or playoff if he went to Ole Miss. He's from the Dallas-Fort Worth area but not sure if he'd be interested in any of the other Texas schools like Baylor, Tech, TCU, etc. Doubtful he'd go to Oklahoma (or if they would court him), think he's hated them and his Longhorns roots would probaby prevent a single second of consideration. I don't think he fits the sort of mobility Oregon desire in their offense though he's not slow. I'd like to see what he could do at UNC or USC.

That was a dreadful way to end a half defensively. You play to avoid big plays not sellout on the rush with so little time in the half. Texas #3 has to pick up the back there and not go all out for the QB. Texas just lost all their momentum on dumb shit, so typical with this coaching staff.

For all the complaining from certain parts of the country about the 1st round of these playoffs, the semifinals games have been amazing

I’ve not watched a second of this game, far from it, but I hope [insert game winner here] incinerates the souls of the domers. Do it for the altar boys you bastards..

 That was the worst 4 downs I've ever seen at the 1 yard line.

I fecking hate pitchout calls inside the five. That totally fecked that series. Two plays lost this game for Texas, both late in each half. Got Sarked again.

That idiotic end of first half defensive setup, feck. It's 14-14 if not for that nonsense. Changes how that last series plays out. I hope Sark and the DC has a nightmare every night for the rest of his life.

Ewers is going pro is the prevailing sentiment. Might go in the 3rd but I'm thinking a 4th rd selection is the likely range. The worry with Ewers was evident last night - he struggles with pressure. He'll need to figure that out as the pressure at NFL level is insane. As are the defenses with their abilities to mask coverage and schemes. But being a backup/third string QB for 10-15 years isn't a terrible profession as he'll make multi-millions if he can find that niche, even spot start here or there will only prolong his NFL career.

“Really, Rece, it’s going to raise a fascinating question as Quinn Ewers is going to be one of the most divisive prospects in this upcoming NFL Draft. I had one scout tell me he sees him as a second-round pick. I had another tell me he sees him as a sixth-round pick. One GM told me he sees Ewers as a Top-100 guy, but his scouts have a ‘wild variance’ on where they are.”

Not a bad gig. Being a perennial backup which means being the most popular player on any team.

Dallas will probably need a backup/developmental guy. Rush will probably get a decent offer somewhere unless Dallas is willing to pay him top backup money to stand with a clipboard. Lance is also a free agent and I fail to see anything in him that screams he has a chance to be a decent starter. They did bring Will Grier back after Dak's injury but he's third string at best.

Yeah there was nothing in Ewers' game last night that showed me he is anything more than a day two draft guy. This was the fifth consecutive game that he threw at least one pick, which won't be lost on NFL scouts.

Manning, despite being two years younger, is just as good if not better a passer and an infinitely better runner than Ewers is, which is why I suggested months ago Arch should be starting more. The ASU game should've never been close and having a QB who can run for a first down here and there, would've helped immensely last night.

Can see him sneaking into the 2nd honestly. Given how QB's rise through the draft process.
