That would explain things ... and so exonerate our club abit if this ends up not going through. Makes sense about the last minute nature too. Once it became crystal clear in last 48 hours that Baines was not going t happen, se we put this plan b in place, but as the tweet says, its dependent of Madrid completing the domino effect.

So basically... Madrid didn't land their guy, and so pulled the plug on their end.

That's that then, time for a long sleep... Tomorrow is a bright new day, and the start of my 1 year Afro growing plan.

How do I like this post?

 This is too much. It's comedy gold. Just forget about it being our club and all that shit, remember its just a game and it's fecking hilarious. The whole summer has been awesome. For years I've moaned about the soap opera surrounding football but I've completely changed my mind. Couldn't give a shit about the matches now, bring on January. Bravo

Who are Madrid going to play at left back then? Marcelo seems like their only option and he isn't even that good.

I like him, good player. But, did we really need a left back?

I imagine he'll play left wing so we can end the dreadful Welbeck experiment and get him back to playing as a striker. However the above is likely irrelevant as this deal wont go through.

Just in:

Breaking News: Manchester United has made a £40m bid for Real Madrid's Luca Modrid, but the bid was rejected.

from Metro.....

Manchester United appear to have beaten the transfer deadline to sign Real Madrid wing-back Fabio Coentrao on a season-long loan.
Coentrao, who was a target for Tottenham earlier in the transfer window, had said he was set to stay at Madrid on transfer deadline day.
However, after missing out Everton full-back Leighton Baines, United made a late push for the player, agreeing to sign him on-loan with a view to a permanent deal.
The paperwork was sent off to the FA right on the deadline, and David Moyes now faces a nervous wait to see if the deal will come off.

I fecking hope so.

They're all just guessing, aren't they?

Just tossed a coin. I can announce we haven't got him :(

I have a bad feeling about this. The English papers are just rehashing older reports. Latest breaking news is Benfica's signed the Granada full back, which means Real won't let Coentrao go.

If it was submitted before the 11 and subsequent 12 deadline, how could Real pull the plug? It's too late surely? The deal was done.

Just confirm it one way or another ffs! I need to go to poxy bed!

 That was pretty funny...I guess.
It was fair weak, tbh bit drained after the culsterfeck of a day that today was.
Me 2

Coentrao on a loan with option to buy would be a good deal.

Really hope we send the paperwork in time and can prove it somehow.
Definitely would be a good deal, hoping it all works out, somehow....

If you think all this is funny, there's a whopper coming out of the Herrera deal....

Ander Herrera might have been a Manchester United transfer target on deadline day, but he was not targeted by anyone with the clearance to authorize such a move.
As confirmed by BBC Radio Manchester on Twitter, negotiations for the Athletic Bilbao midfielder were conducted by "imposters" who were not acting on the club's behalf:
David Moyes' outfit had been linked to the Spanish player throughout the final few hours of the transfer window, and at one point, it looked like Herrera was headed for Old Trafford.
ITV Football certainly thought so:
The Mirror's John Cross did, too, when glancing at reports coming from Spain:
Optimism later turned to skepticism, as the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler and Adam Crafton reported that complicated paperwork issues were threatening to derail the deal. Per the report, United were willing to pay Herrera's buyout clause figure of £30.5 million, but were struggling with "tax-related issues."
AS reporter Guillem Balague later broke word that the deal was off:
Sky Sports followed up with an in-depth look at that reality:
The latest twist is a storyline no one saw coming.
Herrera, who scored two goals in 29 La Liga appearances for Bilbao last season, is just 24 years old and has played for Spain's U-21 and Olympic squads. Despite a hefty buyout clause, it appeared United were prepared to accept his lofty fee number and move forward.
And by United, I mean three men who were in no way associated with the Red Devils.
The transfer window never ceases to bring unexpected moments, but this is one that will go down in the history books.

Story confirmed by United

The only thing giving me some hope about this deal is that we haven't announced Fellaini yet. Hopefully there's still a chance they could both be announced together.

@BenSmithBBC: The indications are that one of #MUFC or #RMCF did not ratify the deal for Coentrao with Fifa. But not confirmed.
