Really don't rate this guy. Have tried to read up a lot about him, playing style, stats, etc but nothing about this makes sense.

If we get Anthony, which looks quite likely, then we have rashford, Sancho and Anthony for the wings with elanga as back up. For CF, we'll still have martial and Ronaldo with rashford as back up.

There is no need for irrational spending. Rather save up a little for next year when we will need a striker, RB and another midfielder if FDJ cannot be done

It'll be contingent on Ronaldo leaving.

It probably makes sense if we are eventually looking to sell one or Martial or Rashford (if they perform like they have last year) or see this guy as a central striker. But based on the clips he doesn't look like a brilliant LW. Maybe his mentality is exceptional?

Rashford broke through and played regularly, did he not? More out of necessity than anything. But I like how Van Gaal preferred a smaller squad to allow youngsters the chance to break through. Sink or swim. Gotta admire that given the pressure that managers are under to get results so quickly in this era of football.

Rashford's break was lucky though, it's not the best example. He wasn't banging on the door, he wasn't even that highly rated at youth level. It was a right place right time sort of moment where everything fell his way and we were quite simply desperate. He took full advantage, which is the key thing all the kids need to do when that moment happens, Elanga kind of did the same, even if long term he's probably not good enough.

Of course the same sort of fate and moment may happen for Garnacho, we're pretty unlucky with injuries!

I’ll watch him again tomorrow but so far I don’t get this one. He looks like a 25M player not a 50M one. Tidy on the ball but meh off of it and I’d bet on Rashford to be better and we can use Elanga when we’re on the counter and get Garnacho some starts when we are dominating the ball. If he worked like a dog than sure, a better dribbler than Elanga as our 3rd winger would be a serious upgrade.

For this much money, id prefer Neto or Diaby who can also actually give us a left-footed option.

Is he any better than Sinisterra? Same age, position and similar production last year and Leeds got him for half the price.

He is quite tall for a winger though so maybe Ten Hag thinks he can also be our backup 9 and Cristiano will leave? Wingers who can score goals sometimes thrive when played as a 9, but I’ve literally never seen him play central so have no views on if he’s the next Mertens.

It's just a smoke screen to try and lower the price for Anthony. Gakpo ain't happening because we already have similar players in our team, no need for another one.

From the youtube clips alone, I think he looks pretty good. Obviously people want Anthony and when we're linked with this guy as well, people are going to be negative on it. But assuming we want both I think he looks a fair talent. He does have some similar traits with Rashford and Martial. At the same time Ten Hag explained that he wants plenty of fresh options up front. So I see it as him wanting a similar styled player who is good competition for places with a Rashford or Martial, with whoever the form players are getting the nod. Meanwhile you have Sancho and Anthony as more creative types. And I would imagine the youngsters other than maybe Elanga will go out on loan and try to impress ETH as much as Gakpo has in their time in the netherlands.

Ten Hag said after the Liverpool game you need depth, especially in attacking areas, given the demands of a pressing system. He’s the depth. We need a better backup than Elanga, and we need more backups.

Haha yes, Gakpo is way better than Sinisterra. At OT Cody will be become the fans favourite. 50m sounds like a lot, but it's a steal right now. After the World Cup and maybe 6 CL matches for PSV his price tag will double.

Love to see him play for Man Utd someday, but I hope he stays in Eindhoven for one more year. For the fans. But tbh, he's ready for PL.

It’s all about options and competition that will take us forward. With Ten Haags pressing game and the 5 sub rule, I think both will be an asset.

Not sure if you are a UK poster or international poster but the match is on today (Wednesday)

Is Gakpo good enough? If not, the Gak-poo jokes will quickly emerge

Very hard to say. His decision making and finishing are his strongest attributes. He is good in big matches too. But it's always hard to say how a Eredivisie player wil fare in the Premier League. Personally I would think a smaller step would be better for him but I wouldn't be surprised either if he makes it at United.

Thats way too costly. We are overpaying anyway.

Probably but Ajax players going for so much money - which is our doing - means that they have every right to think that a player who is only a bit worse, but a year older shouldnt cost half the amount Anthony does.

Somehow though Sinisterra went to Leeds for 25 million euros and he had fairly similar stats to Gakpo last season. I guess it suggests Leeds got him a bit cheap

Feyenoord are a bit broke, Malacia was also extremely cheap. There’s also just different premiums in the Dutch league; it goes: Ajax >> PSV > everyone else

I think he would be a good signing but a completely different player from Antony from the limited I've seen of both.

Antony seems more of a showman with a lot of tricks kind stylistically like a young Ronaldo whereas Gakpo seems a more direct runner more stylistically similar to someone like Henry.

Again I've seen very little of both but I think they are very different and we could add both to the team and they could add something different.

Just to make it clear, we want a rangers win tonight? So PSV go out? Or does it not really matter?

One more thing to note. We were 1 attacker down already due to Voldemort's off field activities. So it makes some sense for ETH to want to stock up

Imagine PSV qualifying for the CL (if they beat Rangers tonight) may well up the price.
If they want similar to Antony and we can only get one of them then surely we choose Antony. If this guy has a bad season though they’ll lose out on money next year if someone goes in for him.

PSV needs Gakpo for this match and player wants to help his team. United respecting that could gain some leverage if this deal is the real thing from beginning.

Casemiro supposedly wanted CL, but that didn't stop him from leaving. We'll see after the outcome, thankfully we got Antony who wants to join so the club isn't in desperate position.

Let alone cavani left aswell… I personally don’t think we should go for 2 wingers… I think we need a winger and a ST. Need a prolific goalscorer who’ll help us against teams that play deep. Having rashford/martial upfront will only be good against teams that give us space and play high line.

Yes let's just get one of the many prolific goalscorers available. The odd thing is Arnautovic might have been a good buy purely to offer us something different against low blocks.

Everything I've seen from PSV and Eredivisie fans are saying this guy is nowhere near ready.

We are in transition anyways. I'd prefer getting a talent that we can mould into our new playing style than getting Vardy or Arnautovic.

We ain't winning the title this year, neither we play in CL, so there is time to create a new team and playing style.

Isn't he a left-sided winger though? We're stocked there.
