Will do well for Liverpool but he’s not what we need right now. We have Marcus, Sancho, Garnacho and Martial who can play on the left.. a striker is what we need and Gakpo isn’t that.

Gakpo is a Mane replacement in my eyes.

You ignored me when i asked so wasn’t sure why.

Figured you’d be happy the club haven’t got him given you’d not fancied the player yourself a few hours ago.
Sorry I haven't kept up with the thread replies! Yeah basically to summarize, I know I had concerns and wanted Felix instead.. But my anger is that what I think is immaterial. He was Ten Hags first choice and we are gazumped.

On paper Gakpo fits us more and Felix fits Liverpool more. But I would rather Felix as he's the better player.. And it might work out that way.

If it does, and Felix flops, you best believe I will hide

There was some journalist compilation on youtube over Christmas, where the likes of Henry Winter were a bit "meh" with why United would want Gakpo. Quotes like "He's good but whether he's elite is another question" and "wouldnt get to carried away with how he done for his country, but should do better than a lot of Dutch players have recently." Seemed like he's not as highly rated as some say he is.

Not going to lie, but I don't think he's looking like a top level talent anyway. Although now that the scousers are getting him you can bet he'll turn out great.

I would have been very much 'meh' about the signing knowing that it meant we wouldn't go for Felix.

Where? Romano has had a shocker but I can’t think of anybody saying we were in for him. There was nonsense about smiles at a press conference, sharing the same agent and some bullshit Mirror report 2 days ago but that’s it. Romano is taking a huge L here.
This is been cold for a while since we literally turned the man down 4 months ago and allowed Leeds to 99 percent sign him then. What would have changed? We obviously don’t see him as a striker since he was a back up for Antony so I’m struggling to see why we’d even go near him
He was reported as a priority multiple times on Athletic.

Sorry mate.

You just seem to have turned in to a bit of a nightmare following the Ronaldo saga and this feels like you’re now fishing for reactions with some clearly ludicrous takes that you know will irritate United fans.

Recall you being a decent poster and valued your Sporting insight so just letting you know and hopefully that’s not the case
What you’re doing with a comment like that is literally stirring the pot and it’s exhausting. Bringing Ronaldo into a Gakpo thread? Like come on.

By voicing a different opinion that’s the first thing you say, this is the first post I made in a week and that’s your instant go to reaction.

Todays market prices are insane. Look at what City paid for Grealish or Phillips and what United did for Antony and maguire. Saying Liverpool did a good deal (which they did) is not “trying to irritate United fans” it’s a fact.

As for Rashford there are MANY posters on here who don’t think much of him. Their are multiple threads if it and his last 3 seasons proved those opinions but that is neither here nor their.

Just stop trying to start stuff, it’s played out.

Hes not really a CF, yet though. He's actually quite raw in his dribbling and isn't very fast.

He is physical, moves into good areas and has a mean shot on him. But I've often seen him jog about the pitch.

Doesn't matter if he's a CF or not. We need a CF yes, we also need another forward especially a creative one. Our options are awful across the board.

Who do we honestly expect to sign this window? Loan? Permanent? If we go out and sign a quality player this window I'll eat my words. But we won't, we'll end up with nothing and it'll be yet another season when we don't strengthen a clear issue in the squad and it results in us missing out on the Top 4. Call me Mr.Nostradamus.

That’s fair enough matey. I’ll wait and see what the club do in January off the back of this before getting annoyed about it but understand some will be now especially as it involves Liverpool

Based on? If he was Ten Hag’s first choice we’d have signed him in the summer when we turned him down and signed Antony.

Just there or by multiple sources? I guess he was a target but wasn't a priority.

As it was said all of ETH's priorities have been signed. I don't think Gakpo would have been an exception if he was a priority signing.

With Garnacho and Rashford and if necessary Martial down the left we are well stocked on the left. Then there is also Sancho but I'm not sure we will ever see the best of him.

Very surprised by this..
Anyway.. we need a striker.. we'll probably get someone.. Cant say I'm too disappointed its not Gakpo.. but very surprised he's going to pool.. Didn't expect that.

Everyone saying Felix stop kidding yourselves. There's been rumours that the Board arent willing to spend much at all this window - the one we are looking at will be Memphis Depay.

Liverpool currently gathering forwards like its going out of fashion.

Diaz, Sarah, Firminho, Jota, Carvalho and Nunez.

Is he any better, I'm not sure. Surely they needed a midfielder before another attacker.

You keep bringing up Maguire. A signing from several years ago. Chelsea spent £100m on Lukaku and 76m on Havertz. Liverpool dropped 100 on Nunez this summer and 60 odd on Keita.

Not sure what your point is other than trolling somewhat.

To suggest Rashford would have no role at Arsenal, Newcastle or Spurs is another weird comment to make.

Just stands out as trying to troll.

He's definitely having a mare which has been going for a good while now.

I think he is ok but I think if we had bought him, yet another wide player for me which we have more than enough of. We need a proper CF full stop…..

Ya those Liverpool deals were equally as bad for sure.

Rashford would play a park at Newcastle sorry I forget they are in the top 4 but I’m not sure he’s better any of the guys at Arsenal or Chelsea or spurs.

I agree we need a solid profile of an attacker, just saying he's not the complete deal or even close. If we don't wrap up a Felix loan I will also be quite upset so I'm holding out for that now!

Well its multiple from the Athletic. Whitwell on the article and also on their podcast hes been mentioned as a big interest by Mitten/Crafton etc. too. And then yeah Romano on top.

You don't think Arsenal or Chelsea would be interested in Rashford?

What you’re doing is called assuming. Don’t do that.

I have always thought nothing of Rashford, go look it up.

Liverpool have many a times been praised for their business on here.

If you don’t like it when I do it it sounds more like a personal issue so figure it out mate.

Stop making things weird.
Rashford has his flaws but he is much better than Gapko imo.

Not sold on Felix, think he'll be a flop in the Premier League so personally hoping we don't. I don't think we will agree to Atleticos demands anyway.
