Glazers won't sell below their reserve price. After all the hype, there could be no winner.

you really still believe the bullshit briefs, it impossible for them to stay because if they do, they might be in trouble for market manipulation. Another reason is that when they tried to make an intent that they were staying. the stock crashed like a terrorist attack.
They're only doing this to convince buyers to increase their bid, nothing more, nothing less.

Is it likely the winner will go after the remaining 31% and take United off the stock market?

I genuinely don’t understand this. United would still have to operate within FFP rules and a debt-free United would already be capable of reaching that ceiling WITHOUT the Qataris, right?

Factor in money being absolutely no guarantee of success (side-eye in the direction of France).

This forum is hilarious to read and at the end of the day what will be will be. Everything happens for a reason in life and unless you have a Tardis just sit back and enjoy the ride because the future is never written. Captain Harry Stansfield.

Singapore stock market? What the feck is he on about? Man Utd shares are listed in USA

This is what happens when sports writers start trying to cover financial matters that they know nothing about

And the other PL clubs can do nothing whatsoever to block the takeover so thats another waste of a Tweet. There is the PL fit & proper test but that's pretty worthless anyway

Another ''despotic, autocratic regime where thousands of migrant workers'' died thrown in for good measure?

A number of god awful journalists have milked this takeover for every possible click. Can't wait for it to ve over so we can go back to ignoring these Z list sources

Tbf Its will be one of the biggest sporting stories in the last few years if not for the decade. So everyone needs to show their editors that they are on board, plugged in.

I personally would prefer SJR to takeover, I don't really like the idea of a state owning the team I love, and also I'd rather avoid all islamophobia that could come online with ME owners taking over too, I also don't like Qatar spending this huge amount on a football club when their "Arab brothers" in Syria are struggling financially so much.

I finally understand why people hate this thread and wish I would have just not engaged from the start. You have a handful of posters acting as the propaganda arm for Qatar based on extremely limited information. The constant need to defend Jassim and anyone who may have questions about his bid is just weird. The cringiest part must the self-labeling of themselves as "pro-Qatar". Yuck.

Ok.
Funny there's nothing to be said about the holier than thou posters.

Wonder why that is?

do these expectations exist for western investors/billionaires? Are Qatari folks not allowed to make investments because a country in the region is struggling?

This is surprising. I had no idea. I assumed you’d misspelled China but I checked it out and you are of course correct.
Not going to judge the bid against it because it’s irrelevant, but eye raising all the same.
Why per capita, though? Surely total amount is more appropriate, in which case it's China (by a long way).

Or is it to make Qatar look worse than they really are (not good, obviously)?

We are discussing on the little we know and on the Qatari/ineos football track record. If new info comes out then everyone is free to change opinion. For example I was pro SJR up until Jassim bid came in. If a better option comes in or SJR comes with something better then jassim then I switch. I am pro man utd and I want its best. I can't care less about the owners and quite frankly I never liked our owners in the first place

Some want to add the moral issue to it which is fair enough but it does become tired after reading the same post again and again. I only care about the football side of it.

I don't mind to applaud a person who comes with a valid argument as kinsella did not long ago. As said my loyalty lie with the club, nothing else
Same.

I think the only big change in terms of investments and debt will come from an owner who has the means to wipe out the debt and invest in the infrastructure. Someone who has the idea of making a return in 10 years or so. If not, then there is no different whether the Glazers remain in control or not. Anyway, I am looking for some finality so that we can continue progressing as a club. Even if the Glazers stay on, they have no excuse (like in Jan) that investments are pending developments on the sale of the club.

Sir Jim going all out

Surely you mean Saint Jim

An investment in our infrastructure, our youth system, etc. would be a great push for the club. We do not need to spend more on players, but a great academy (again), modern training facilities, a up2date stadium would bring us more money, money we can spend, and would make it easier to convince players.

Whoever does PR for Ineos is pretty medicore at their job. At the start of this process half the fan base was begging him to make a bid, every word they have leaked since has made them look like the second best bid

PR isn't magic, it's an uphill battle when a lot of people here want Qatar. Notice that Al-Thani and Ratcliffe said basically the same thing about not wanting to pay stupid amounts, yet received the opposite reaction on here. From the very same users, in some instances. It's pretty fascinating.

If we do end up with Quatar and he has any integrity, he wont step inside Old Trafford again. Lets see. I hope people remind him on a daily basis

If he had integrity then he wouldn't work for the Independent

I haven't made a moral argument, and frankly, I don't find it interesting. If you weren't desperately trying to score points, you would have noticed that.

I’d take anything Alex says with a pinch of salt if I were you. Let’s not forget he’s the same poster that just a few months ago was claiming he hated state ownership and absolutely everything it stands for.

I actually despise this journalist all the way back from his ESPN transfer nonsense. How is he in his position? I can’t even remember a time he broke a story!
I recall he actually was very reliable for the short duration when moyesy was the manager and this guy was his pet. Now he's just shite
