Given the tone of the post and since he is Spanish "We will be waiting" suggests more that they may feel left behind. Way too early to make idiotic comments like that though.

Edit. I didn't even realise that was the real Jose Enrique!

Jose Enrique referring to Liverpool as 'we' The twat didn't even make it to 100 appearances for them.

Hard to tell at a glance. Their other public holdings are Volkswagen, Glencore, Iberdrola, LSE, Porsche. Very Europe heavy interestingly, no big US holdings.
Ah, okay. However, I'm going to guess, with any investment portfolio, there are going to be some that do well, and others not so.
Remember too that Jassim was also on the board of Credit Suisse.

I'll take the Qataris any day over a Brexiteer billionaire who doesn't even pay tax in this country. Some of the stuff he's quoted as saying re: Brexit just make my skin crawl.

Makes me think of Tenacious D…

“Yes! You are f**ked!
Sh*t out of luck!
Our sale will complete,
And our c*ck you will suck!”

"This club will be mine
And you're first in line
The Glazers were pr**ks
And now you shall all die!"

From the piece above: "Yet Ratcliffe, while refusing to discuss the financial details of his bid, told the Wall Street Journal in an interview that he would not be paying a “stupid” figure that would cause regret down the line."

“How do you decide the price of a painting? How do you decide the price of a house? It’s not related to how much it cost to build or how much it cost to paint,” Ratcliffe said. “What you don’t want to do is pay stupid prices for things because then you regret it subsequently.”

Miguel Delaney

Probably the biggest ani-Qatar reporter thus far which is fair enough….if he didn’t work for the Independent that’s literally owned by a Russian oilman and the Middle East

Biggest hypocrite of the lot and a massive bellend
He's also been heavily critical of the City owners too over the years. With good reason.

I don't buy into the idea that a journalist working for a company who have questionable investors is some kind of childish "gotcha".

I’m surprised he’s spoken publicly about it. Wasn’t that meant to be banned with NDA’s signed?

Is he laying down the foundations to save face if he loses with his bid?

Bit morbid from me but how much is he really going to regret paying a little bit too much for us at his age.

I get it’s a bargaining position but still.

I read an FT article, unrelated to the United bid that suggested at some point, INEOS will be a target for Big Oil within the next ten years or so. The company is too Ratcliffe centric; he's not getting any younger and will probably sell out later when he dies.

There’s not much in the article. This is it essentially:

Yet Ratcliffe, while refusing to discuss the financial details of his bid, told the Wall Street Journal in an interview that he would not be paying a “stupid” figure that would cause regret down the line.

“How do you decide the price of a painting? How do you decide the price of a house? It’s not related to how much it cost to build or how much it cost to paint,” Ratcliffe said. “What you don’t want to do is pay stupid prices for things because then you regret it subsequently.”

A lifelong United fan who was at the Nou Camp to see Sir Alex Ferguson’s beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in dramatic circumstances in 1999 to complete a historic treble, Ratcliffe, who hails from Oldham, said his motives for buying the club were born of a desire for on pitch success.“Our interest in that club would be purely in winning things,” he said.

The Glazers have been subjected to widespread protests and fan fury over the money that has poured out of the club to service their leveraged takeover and line their own pockets. Ratcliffe said he regarded United as a “community asset” rather than a financial one.

Ratcliffe admitted the pursuit of United was different to many of his other business investments. “That in a sense goes without saying, because sport is emotional,” he added.

Is he laying down the foundations to save face if he loses with his bid?

This.

Not sure the Glazers will be pleased with the timing of the article either. They need to have some sort of competition or pressure generated between the various parties.
Maybe they will now have to use the ol' minority stake 'bid' to push up the price.

Stupid paywall :(

And there we have it from the horses mouth. It’s not about profit folks, it’s not about taking money out.
