You have to negotiate to buy the other shares from whoever owns them. It is a separate transaction with the main purchase. You don't necessarily have to buy them as they have no voting rights. That's literally the point I'm making. He's only trying to buy 69% currently. I'm speculating as to the reason.
Yes and I'm saying that the club would still be public enabling Ratcliffe to potentially take dividends. I'm speculating if that is potentially his intention. The Glazers only own 69%. So if he bought that 69% they would no longer have any stake in the club.
It'll be structured to acquire 100%, most jurisdictions have a 'squeeze out' mechanism on takeovers, allowing the buyer to compulsorily acquire minority shareholders.I reckon that £5b will include the Glazer 69% and the offer for the remaining shares to delist the club.
Fair enough. You have to negotiate to buy the other shares from whoever owns them. It is a separate transaction with the main purchase. You don't necessarily have to buy them as they have no voting rights.
I don't think so. I think it's indicating their offer would value the club at 5 billion if they bought the whole thing.

No, this whole bid system is only for the 69%. Even the Qatari bid is for the 69% of shares the Glazers own despite what their statement says. Any other shares will have to be dealt with separately.Yes and I'm saying that the club would still be public enabling Ratcliffe to potentially take dividends. I'm speculating if that is potentially his intention.
I guess £5-6 billionI see. But know one knows how much they want for 69% do they?
Not necessarily. The board can decide to put a fixed price for share, and then send that proposal to the shareholders to vote. Considering that the Glazer family controls the voting, they can decide that each share will be sold for x$, and there is nothing that the other shareholders can do. It is actually what the Glazers did in the first place when they got a controlling majority in the club. You have to negotiate to buy the other shares from whoever owns them. It is a separate transaction with the main purchase. You don't necessarily have to buy them as they have no voting rights.
Except we are not like City, Chelsea and PSG. But carry on wetting yourselfStunned how many United fans would be happy with Qatar, happy to see us become like City and Chelsea and PSG. This is Man United we're talking about - built not by distant billionaires but genius football men like Busby and Ferguson, through tragedy and triumph. Just as we might be coming back to a period of real, deserved success, to have it washed away and start winning with all the unearned financial advantages Qatar might bestow on us leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I know they are bidding for 69% mate I've stated that multiple times. I was unaware thought that they would then be obliged to buy the rest. No, this whole bid system is only for the 69%. Even the Qatari bid is for the 69% of shares the Glazers own despite what their statement says. Any other shares will have to be dealt with separately.
Yeah it’s confusing alright. The Qatari statement being slightly misleading hasn’t helped at all.I know they are bidding for 69% mate I've stated that multiple times. I was unaware thought that they would then be obliged to buy the rest.
For 69%
No Saudi bid yo
Yes but they are only negotiating with the Glazers for their portion. Any other deal is seperate. They clearly said in the statement 100% so they must have a way of buying the remaining non-Glazer shares also
I don't think the other shares are the same value thought are they? They're quite a bit off. 69% is 3.5m quid.
No Saudi bid yo
Saudi no show is the biggest sign of Qatar winning so far IMO

They probably know something rest of us don't...club already sold to Qatar!
For 100% as per their statement in the press.

I know they represent 3% of the voting rights so surely they are relatively worthless compared to the Glazers shares.I'm sure someone on here must know.
Except we are not like City, Chelsea and PSG. But carry on wetting yourself
Nope. The Glazers can decide to sell the shares of other shareholders (the only constraint being that each share will cost the same). It is very common in takeovers that the minority shareholders are forced to sell (Man United when Glazers bought the club, Twitter when Elon bought it etc).Yes but they are only negotiating with the Glazers for their portion. Any other deal is seperate.
The issue being that I don't support the bid from the state that makes money out of gas.
Fair enough, thanks for the info.Nope. The Glazers can decide to sell the shares of other shareholders (the only constraint being that each share will cost the same). Interesting. That apply to UK Based companies. We're a Cayman island based one.
They probably know something rest of us don't...club already sold to Qatar!
They don't have to go public though so there could well be more.Safe assumption that its likely to be Qatar, considering there have been very little news of any bids from NA or other parts of the world.
It must have been agreed well beforehand.
Wait, so 5b would be the value of 69 percent of the club?I doubt it. Raine are only tasked to sell the Glazers stake. They are both eyeing for that 69% whom in reality controls the club
