Hopefully Ratty goes for the dippers next.

"This is a scouse bid, for a scouse club.

I am making this investment as a fan of the beautiful game.

I'll put the poo back in Liverpool."

I feel like INEOS will need to do more to get fans on side again, because that PR statement earlier basically said everything fans would want to hear.

Football Twitter is no joke. Savage environment if you get on the wrong side of people.

The British appeal feels a more like a plea to the Glazers, if Jim can match the Qatari based bid, at least in the early phase they could be inclined and feel they're doing the one right thing by some vocal fans selling to Jim/Ineos.

Glazers might be unsure to sell off such a high profile British club to Qatar if there's not much between the bids in what they collect. For some United fans it's a real problem of Glazers 2.0 or Qatar, neither will be compelling. We'd have to know much more about Sir Jim's bid as to me it seems many times more treacherous than the Glazers.

No chance they will care about that. Glazers are in it for the $$, nothing else.

So you think them being an intermediary between the British and the Taliban makes them the Taliban?
Nope. But they let them set up offices in Qatar in 2012. Not really making me warm to a Qatar bid.

Ratcliffe and his Wall Street investors will be the vulture Glazers mk 2. Club will fall into oblivion within 10-15 years.

Qatar all the way. They'll put money where their mouth is and get shit done.

Why should United be the moral banner holder, while every club leaves us in the dust because of financial boosts from nations etc.?

If the Qataris don't take money out of the club, we'll do great because of our own finances and wouldn't need a sugardaddy. The vultures have been sucking us dry for the last 17 years and shackling us - we need to be set free Forrest Gump style.

A basic summing up of the SJR and Qatar bids for those wanting to catch up:

Exactly this. How can anyone prefer Radcliffe over Qatar is mad.

This high moral is boring, choose another thing to get on your high horse let my club go back where it belongs. At the very top.

Let's be honest this isn't about PR anyway. The Glazers only care about the highest bid so Ratcliffe doesn't really need to bother with all that.
But the PR isnt there for winning the bid but the fanbase trust. The PR is for what comes after.
From what I read of that the debt stays the same, nothing about infrastructure or investment but noise about a 70 year old man being the long term British custodian and how Dan James should never have been sold

"I am a local lad"

As for me, never will I surrender to the taliban. Arsenal & British till I die. No shit 350m for Neymar would ever cause me to forget who I am.
Where’s Kroenke from again?

You lot are a rare breed, you haven’t been british owned for years. You can’t afford the Neymars & they’d never have been interested.

Big fail to be talking about local bids to a global fanbase. The issue already divides us on a daily basis. You can't be talking about protecting traditions when the same release shows a level of tonedeafedness that shows you don't know what you're doing.

I'm also not surprised he resorted to it. He's just appealing to his sympathisers. For weeks we've been asking Pro-Ratcliffes why they push his name so hard and it almost always boiled down to being a local lad and having faith. Even after the news of needing loans to buy us.

I think the majority of us would want squeaky clean billionaire owners, not linked to any form of human rights abuses or any dodgy dealings but it's just not realistic.

For all the talk of the soul being sucked out of the club if we end up with Middle Eastern oil/gas money, I think we are all forgetting that WE are the soul of this club. The fans, community in Manchester and further afield, have been with this club the whole journey - Newton Heath to today.

New owners cannot wipe out the history of Manchester United - that's the difference between us and City. It was the difference between Chelsea and us when Roman took them over too. We have much more to us than success on the pitch and that can't be taken away.

Whatever outcome this brings, we will be free of the leech Glazer family and have an owner who is willing to invest to bring the success back to the club.

Yeah agreed, no such thing as an ethical multi billionaire.

Anyone praying for Ineos should Google about them and greenwashing. One FT article as well as going into this references “a relentless approach to keeping costs down” as their business model which, ethics aside, sounds shite.

We’ll have a choice between a dictatorship or a company contributing heavily to the climate disaster which is just as bad.

On a side note I see Ronay’s already done a hit piece saying Qatari ownership will destroy any progress we’ve made this season. That circle of ABU losers at the Guardian must be thrilled to have an angle of attack again since ETH made us a great side… they’ve been conspicuously silent on United matters the last few months.

If it's anyone besides Qatar or Saudis I'm going to be so disappointed. I don't know how people prefer Radcliffe over them, he's made a mess out of Nize.

I would rather stay with the Glazers than change to Radcliffe. For me it's either the Arabs or no one, want to see some serious investment and our club brought back to the very top in the short term.

You make it seem like we've not spent an absolute fortune on utter shit. We are known for overpaying fees and wages. feck the Glazers they loaded the club with debt but United has always been a commercial entity, which Nice isn't.

Barring the Human rights discussion I don't get the comparisons with City, Chelsea and PSG if Qatar get us

They were tiny pissant little clubs who used the wealth to massively accelerate growth, City potentially illegally

We are fecking huge already we've just got a dated stadium and training facilities, I wouldn't expect us to be spending on shiny players every window especially with ETH in charge just evolution of the squad and improvements to the facilities

Brexit FC.

What people who say Qatar are just better at PR than Jimmy Rat don't understand is that this displays willingness to understand the fans and actually cater to their wishes.

On the other side, we have Ratcliffe coming up with no info on key aspects of the ownership that fans are keen to know about. It's just arrogance and presumes he should be winning because of his passport. What does that mean for his eventual running of the club? It just feels entitled.

It's basically a political campaign. One side has made the effort to sell their message, the other just feels entitled to the vote.

Of course, it's the number on the proverbial check that will make the Glazers' mind, so it's all a bit academic in the end.

You do realise that every football club is rooted in its locality? That’s the literal heart and soul of the club. So depressing how many fans don’t get this.

And in the long term when we have completely morphed into a circus like PSG? Will be tough luck, they will treat us as their plaything forever more and we are stuck with them for better or worse. At least if Ineos fail they will sell on.

I am heavily in favour of the Qatar bid (of the two publicly announced) but let's not kind ourselves. It's as state-backed as it gets.

The main Qatari guy is worth $1.3bn in total, so he's clearly getting huge support from somewhere. You don't have to guess from where.
That's not what im saying. The people who are responding to those who have issues with some of the problems with Qatar by saying "but look, the Glazers are naff people too".
