Those 2 games cost me alot more than what it cost a local for a season ticket, and cost me vacation days too when I have to take 1 or 2 weeks off. 2-3 m local supporters are as important as the 650m around the world that make united the biggest club in the world. Its not a contest who is worth more (as the poster thinks), but if we look at the financial factor the 650m brings in more money into the club than the 2-3m. Do you think those humongous sponsorship deals are because of the local fans reach or how global Man Utd is?

As I said, commercially if a billionaire was allowed to do it they would. In the US NFL teams will literally uproot and move to another city. At their level it's only about finances and what makes financial sense. If the surrounding town of Manchester becomes a post apocalyptic wasteland but profits are 10% higher they'd do it.

Agreed. I'm not from England (US fan for over 20 years), and I have no doubt that the relationship between the locals and the club is much different than mine. It's really arrogant and/or ignorant to say otherwise. I have no problem with the Qataris owning the club, but most of my interaction with the team is strictly what happens on the pitch, and I cheer just as hard as anyone. However, there is another level of fandom you get from being in the community and being a multi-generational fan that you simply can't replicate watching from abroad. I don't get the animosity towards a potential Qatari ownership, but I'll chalk that up to the fact that my relationship with the club isn't as layered as some of the local lads, and a feeling towards the club or perspective with it that I'm just not privy to due to distance and history.
