Club Sale | It’s done!

Does anyone have a link to that video of the Emir hinting he is a United fan in an interview. I only have it in Arabic without translation. I saw it on this thread somewhere and now I can't find it.

It hasn't.

Too much smoke.

No other bidders have been revealed, especially ones from North America. Which was definitely not the case during the chels sale.

Maybe some wont even bother, considering most PE firms know they can't compete with a sovereign fund that has an AUM north of $450b.

That’s fair enough.

Hopefully it doesn’t come to that but if so we will likely not see you here from 10pm onwards
I suspect so, honestly I'm hoping whatever happens waits until after the cup final. The second leg of the Barcelona game is on my birthday and the FA Cup final win vs Newcastle in 98 was my first trip to Wembley, it would be at least a nice farewell if we won.
Fair enough, everybody deals with it in their own way. Nothing to be held accountable about.
Seems you’ve got about 6 weeks of being a United fan left.
If you've not got much choice about it all (and I include supporters in this group, I don't expect people to give up supporting the club they've done for their whole lives) then there isn't, people who willingly work for them don't have that defence though.

Yep, as I said to TheReligion, at this point I'm resigned to it. I just hope I get my cup final win.

It does seem very likely yes.

I feel conflicted over it myself, in part due to fighting the Glazers for years and finally being so close to them going and the finances of the club being restored and protected.

Side point but we're unlikely to get any major news after 10pm so people shouldn't be getting their hopes up. News will keep leaking out gradually over the coming weeks, I think.

Are people actually expecting an announcement at 10pm from the club

It’s a self imposed deadline. If they don’t get the bids they want, it will roll on. Even if they do, they aren’t going to come out and announce it.

If you choose to work for a sportswashing operation you're accountable for that. I hold Pep to the same standard, I think he's a scumbag for doing it. It's right to ask EtH what he thinks about it now before it happens, if he wants to give diplomatic answers and not get involved then sure, but that only works until the takeover happens and then you have to make a decision about where you want to stand.

I'm sorry if this upsets anyone but it's just how it is. If we get taken over by the Qatari's and he's happy to sit there and work for them then he's willingly enabling them and there's a weight of blame for their actions on him for that.

I find it frankly ridiculous that we wouldn't expect a journalist to ask what is essentially the figurehead of our club right now "this massive, ethically catastrophic, event might happen to the club you're employed by. How do you feel about that?". What else are journalists supposed to ask him at the moment?

If Qatar ends up buying Man Utd what EtH does is irrelevant to me, just like the club, as I said in the other thread I have no interest in supporting the shell of what the club would become. I have no respect for anyone who chooses to work for a sportswashing operation, though. That applies to Pep, Howe, Tuchel, Messi, Pochettino, Ronaldo etc. too.

As others have said that’s your call which is fair enough and It’s looking like theres a high possibility of a Middle Eastern takeover coming to fruition so be prepared.

Unless it's a ridiculous amount - say XYZ offered 10 billion and the nest best was ABC at 5 billion nothing will happen

We wont get an official announcement obviously but id expect to hear what sort of bids we're officially made by the end of the day for sure

It's a soft deadline but bids will go in today that's been widely reported

I totally understand that, and I want the club to be financially stable and healthy too. I'd love the Glazers gone and ownership given to someone as generically evil but wealthier, which morally is a rather sad state of affairs to begin with.

There's just something intrinsically wrong about state ownership I can't do the mental gymnastics to get around. Honestly I wish I could because it's not like my objections are going to make a difference, and I'm the only one whose losing out either way, but some things just are what they are.

Oh don't worry, I've been emotionally resigned since the announcement.

Ironically the only hope is a man who pushed for a Brexit I didn't want to avoid incoming EU regulations which would have held him responsible for pollution caused by his company to an area I can literally see from my back garden :D that's where we're at with modern football it seems.

We don't know who is bidding, or when they are bidding or how much they are bidding, but we do know that a deal is not done (or very close to being done). United have NYSE disclosure and reporting obligations - if something was close, United would be obligated to announce it publicly.

And before you ask, no that does not extend to transfers, because transfers have no material relevance.

We may also get some more of the actual bidders go public so they can garner support.

I have to say I find the list of potential new owners utterly depressing. Yes there are some with bags of money, but is that really all we care about ?

Unlovely as the Glazers are, I honestly think I prefer straightforward vulture capitalists than sportswashing ugly regimes. For all the negatives about them, they've hardly starved the squad of funds, and there's no guarantee new owners will magically put in place the management structures required for long term success. Radcliffe's track record with other clubs is hardly stellar.

Dont know if this was mentioned, but yesterday during the match a commentator on Bein sport was basically talking about the take over as if it was done and dusted. If thats worth anything.

Wish you all the best in your new venture.

I wouldn’t trust any of it. Both the club and bidders will be leaking information to suit their own agendas.

I found this video but people beneath are saying it isn't actually the Emir. I'm not sure they're wrong

This potential takeover has really sent some of you off the deep end
Some people really need to get some fresh air I think. Football has been plagued by dirty money since I was a kid in the 70s and then probably before that.

Football sold its soul to the devil many, many, MANY years ago.

Some of that information might start to leak over the weekend or next week, but we're probably at least six-to-eight weeks away from any deal boing done. Be patient.

Yeah, I agree fully with this.

It’s a soft self imposed 10pm deadline rather than a hard, must be done by 10pm deadline. As been reported often in the past by the Rainie Group, any interested bidders can still bid beyond 10pm tonight. Nothings getting officially concluded tonight.

Is this like an eBay auction where everyone has got a bot set up to put in a snipe bid at the last second?

That's just the reality of football fans these days. Take the piss if it's someone else, then bust out the flags when it's us.

Are people seriously expecting ETH to comment on all this?

What should he do, piss on Qatar and leave?

Technically there is no deadline since they’re legally obliged to listen to every offer that comes their way
