Feel better now mate, after your little tirade? You could have just written 'colonialism was bad' and saved yourself a little time.
Firstly, you know feck all about me, so how dare you accuse me of being a fan of the monarchy. As a man of both Irish and Scottish heritage I find that deeply insulting.
Secondly, I studied history at one of those highly rated universities and had to write many a paper on the history that isn't taught in the primary and secondary education system in this country, mostly by lecturers from countries that had once been part of the British empire, and weren't exactly fans. So, nothing you've just ranted about is the slam or burn that you expected it to be. Sorry to burst your bubble.
In fact, part of that education was actually studying history as an idea, and learning to understand how it's constantly changing as the lens through which you view it changes. The idea being to understand that there is no one pure truth of any historical event, and you need to understand every viewpoint and draw your own conclusions from those, including every event that led up to it, without being influenced by your own bias or those others. If you must know, I didn't do too badly, despite my 'low IQ'.
So, if I'm a 'Fred' and know 'absolutely crap all', then that probably really makes you a Bebe. At least you're good at choosing usernames though, eh?
Not that it matters anymore, but my original qualm with your post was the complete whataboutery of it all. Simply put, just for you Bebe, is that I disagree with the notion that if group A's ancestors did bad shit in the past, then we should overlook the bad shit that group B are doing right this moment. Does that make sense?
This has probably been a waste of time to write, because judging by the tone of your rant it feels like you have a massive chip on your shoulder that has more to do with your own racist sentiments, or just a general xenophobia towards the English. Nothing I say will change that, but it's unfair of you to aim that at other people on this football forum.
The ownership question has nothing to do with skin colour or religion for most of us. Not wanting an authoritarian state to own your club is a legitimate concern. It's perfectly fine to think that, whilst also living in modern day UK under a pro-monarchy/establishment Tory govt. I would change those things if I could, but I can't.
Anyway, maybe go outside, get some fresh air, and stay off the internet for a few days until the hate in you has seeped out a bit.

The fact you studied History at one of those Universities tells me all I need to know The Propaganda educational system. Kaboom!
Goodbye!
But it shows how you can separate religious beliefs or even dilute them.So qatar is not like ireland, where it is not legal to be gay.
qatar are buying united
Yeah that's true. In all fairness, everyone out there in some form of power is a massive dickhead, the way I see is that the Qataris at least know and care about how they are perceived and therefore might actually do some good with the money, whereas the rest of the dickheads only care about how they can get more money and feck everyone else.I mean we have a massive thread about how they’re all dickheads as well.
So qatar is not like ireland, where it is not legal to be gay.

The Tories or the Qataris? What would cause the biggest meltdown in here?Thankfully they're not buying united
Same here. Musk will bury United alive then dance on the grave preaching on how great he is, what a fantastic achievement he has done here and how he has 'saved' United. As much as the Qatar option brings with it problems, I'd choose them ahead of the Elon Musk, whose rumoured to be interested. He's made a complete shite-house mess of Twitter and I simply don't think he's the financial genius others belevee him to be. Plus I don't find his politics any more inviting than many others. possibly the only worse option is the (rumoured) bid of two glazer brothers to buy out the others
I can’t say I’ve ever been impressed by the way PSG has been run. Yes they’ve spent money, but it’s often looked so poorly managed and as if no one really knows what they’re doing on the football side or things.
Hopefully they get the right people in place here, and if the right people are already in place, leave them to it.
They would publicly run United very well whilst having an army of English fans justifying their every decision even if it goes against the belief in acceptance and tolerance.
Sooo, no more gays at Old Trafford from now on?
Shit, that's like half of our match going fans.
Why would that be the case? I can appreciate the way they handle a business or a football club if you will, whilst still being able to criticise their way of thinking on certain topics. Shouldn't be a problem and should be the way people act on this. This thread is comedy gold.
The Tories or the Qataris? What would cause the biggest meltdown in here?
It was Luckhurst of MEN who reported this first from what I can read
Doesn't remind me of that at all. I remember there being nearly universal disdain for that takeover. Glazers having to be escorted everywhere by police etc back in 2005. And the protests have continued to various degrees of intensity for nearly 20 years.
Fans are far more placid and removed these days though. People pay more attentional to twitter polls than actual supporters.
Have you seen the response the Saudi government now get from Newcastle fans?
I'd rather the North Koreans bought us than see his stupid face at OT.Qatories!
Haha can you imagine boris giving post match press conferences.

Plenty of match going fans who were willing to give the new owners a chance at the start.
OT was still packed to the brim despite calls to boycott.
I suppose tourists and all that.
Qatories!

Is there a verse in Quran about anti LGBT laws?
So Amnesty International are part of the western media now?
Yeah, I guess we should interpret the Bible by the letter and live by it just like 500, 600 years ago.
Your post was chock full of baseless ad hominem which weakens your argument. In addition the whole purpose of studying history is to understand and be critical of the accuracy of the source of information.
No I haven't and frankly I'm pretty sure most Newcastle fans don't follow the Saudi politics close enough to even make a profound statement on the matter. I'm also pretty sure most Newcastle fans don't appreciate the way the Saudis handle topics like women rights, homosexuality and (lack of) secularity just because they are owned by them. They can however appreciate the way their club is handled. People getting this mixed up should rethink.
Now that's some scary shit there.
Sharks with freaking laser beams attached to their heads with only gay target programmed acquisition.
They'd build a giant moat around Gold Trafford.
@Wumminator that post must have been written a while ago! It was just an honest view point of how most have been brought up hearing that slur as an insult.
The Saudis are literally killing journalists and executing people publicly but Newcastle fans should ignore that because they run the footy team well?
Just to be clear - that’s your position?

Homophobia, racism, discrimination in general isn't political, it's vile ideology that needs to be challenged and pushed back against. I absolutely would not want to be sat near anyone at OT that harboured those sorts of views. The idea that we should leave social issues out of football (or, more specifically, this board) is ridiculous. It's an important part of discourse. Can we leave the social issues outside of this board? This is a football forum. Why is everything got to be so political? You don't even know the guy and you're more than likely never going to meet him. Can we just discuss the football club?
I didn't argue otherwise, I just don't find any point in trying to argue over something like this with someone you don't even know. I mean, is there a specific set of requirements that a United supporter has to adhere to in order to be eligble?
That's how it's always been, folk sound off then get immune and carry on with the status quo.

When Elon Musk bought twitter did that mean every twitter employee and user now represents his values and beliefs?
Will anyone who was previously anti tesla instantly change their view?
If I'm a lib dem voter and the tories are in power, am I responsible for all the awful policies they bring in? Will I become a tory myself?
I'm not arguing for Qatar ownership here I'm highlighting a flawed argument that whoever owns United will represent us as fans. We have zero say in who buys the club. We lost that chance when the club was floated and not enough people joined shareholders United / bought a couple of shares, to get us the collective 10% needed to block any sale.
It's not a problem at all at PSG (or any of their other businesses), why would it be any different here?
I wasn't referring to you, although looking at some of your posts i can see why you might think i was.I think I want to make it clear I'm separating the state from it's people. I don't have any qatari friends myself but lots of Iranian and Pakistani friends, and they're all great. In much the same way that my English friends are great. England as a nation have been and are responsible for some awful shit but I don't blame my friends for that (unless voting for etc not going into the politics) it's much the same for qatar no doubt, but in this instance we are being bought by the state.
I'm not Islamophobic by any means, but I am against laws which prohibit the freedoms that I believe to be essential human rights. You could argue I'm a militant atheist.
When a state purchases a football club you have to ask why they are doing it. Can anyone tell me why Qatar are interested in purchasing United?
how do you feel about homosexuality?
I don't want to be owned and controlled by some sovereign state that has weird religion and an extremely dodgy history. Gold Trafford and Mbappe just isn't cutting it for me, soz.
