A pretty serious reply where you incorrectly asserted I've never been to Saudi Arabia, or know any Saudi people? Now you're shiteing on about only consuming BBC and talking compete shite about Qatar?

Good man shamans, no wonder your opinion is held on such high regard by the caf at large

KSA in. Amber Heard in.

Christ.

Nice to see you recognize me and my views while I don't even know you

Anyone with any idea how the City/Newcastle/ PSG/ Chelsea sales started? I know obviously the whole abramovich being forced to sell but is there anything we can take from how the Raine group acted for Abramovich that can be seen in our sale? or how the Saudis, Abu Dhabi’s and Qataris made their moves for those clubs? Anything that can give us a insight into how this could possibly play out?

Why has this thread picked up so much in the last hour or so? I don't see any new news or has there been?

I know a lot left for good, some definitely came back as I know of a few. Saying things like 'who gives a feck - the global fan base is massive' annoys me, though. Like the people that make the effort to go to games don't matter a jot.
I don't think the ones that go to games matter as much as they used to, that ended the day clubs became businesses rather than just a football club

Personally I have mixed feelings about that, on one hand, being a fan that went to the games was something special but that was virtually all you got, aside from odd highlights on TV , today I can see every game United play live or on demand and it costs me less for a season than it would to go to a game

Was referencing a quote by Sheik Rashid, but i can understand how that looks bad without the context in the post. Sorry. I don't agree with their politics and hate the treatment of migrant workers, gays and women but i dont see them as any less than any other race as a result.

Me too, but let's not give anyone any room to blur or manipulate your views as anything other than social justice.

Putting morals aside, is nobody here concerned at the possible repercussions for the club under Qatari ownership should, say, the currently relatively stable geopolitical situation in the Persian Gulf deteriorate, or if Qatari-UK relations nosedive in some way? The example of Abramovich should surely be considered.
Third time lucky for Sir Jim

Just saw this.

After the shit show with Twitter, I wouldn't want him anywhere near United.

Personally, I think it's a WUM by the tabloids.

It’s the same journo that 1st broke the news that the Qatari’s were going to bid.

But yeah I agree, I don’t want him anywhere near the club.

I'd rather the Atari's didn't buy us tbh. The 2600 was a great console and everything but they haven't been relevant in about 30 years.
Aah come on man. San Dimas High School Football Rules was a banging tune…

Now that would be an interesting poll - Qatar or Musk - choose one!

Personal opinion:

United needs huge, really huge investment to keep up with other top clubs. It should be practically a moot point by now from where it is coming.

Why is it crazy, if you believed sports journalists then United would have bought about 500 players last summer

If you want to take it to the extreme, then yes, we could believe all journalists, and we would have bought 500 players.

However, I'm keeping it level headed and actual. Journalists are passed on information. They the relay this information to the public. You have your top journalists who will not just report speculation. They will verify the story they have been given, and they will report. This is why a tired system of journalists has come about. The top tired journalists had claimed the interest of the Qataris. Yet still people refused to believe this. And the same story is confirmed by Bloomberg, and now it's widely accepted it's true.

So, believe it or not, sports journalists do know somethings. To tie them all with the same brush is disrespectful, to them, and their craft.

Musk doesn't have the money imo. Nearly all his wealth is in stock shares and he has already had to liquidate billions to keep Twitter afloat. Sounds like media BS to me.

Of course they matter. They are the ones cheering the team on home and away, dedicating their time and money to creating an atmosphere to help us be successful. When we lose, they still support the team and will be there next game to go again.

If it drags like until today then yes I too suspect the same. Unfortunate.
It's still a good timeline for the sale. The summer will be spent getting the players the club have been looking at and maybe a few surprises. I don't think any plans for infrastructure changes will take place until the following summer anyway. No ones going to come in and start making sweeping changes on day one.

I don't mind Qatari ownership so long as they don't behave like Boehly or Abu Dhabi. No player power either. It has to be the manager in the driving seat always leading the club in the most organic way possible.

The only thing is that it cannot get worse than fecking Glazers.

When it comes to club ownership it's not really a question of who is the most desirable, but who is the least objectionable. You don't really achieve the level of wealth that affords you such opportunities by being a good person. So no matter who buys the club, they're more than likely going to be a villian.

That being said, it'd be pretty disappointing if the club were purchased by the Qataris or the KSA. Being owned by greedy capitalist pigs is one thing, that comes with the territory of owning a sports franchise, but being owned by a state whose identity goes hand in hand with corruption, abhorrent treatment of the LGBT community, and the subjugation of women introduces a level of shame and moral failing to Manchester United.

I didn't say they don't matter, I said they don't matter as much as they used to, the days of the majority of fans going to all the home games and as many way games as they could are gone, when I used to go it was a way of life, nowadays it's mostly an experience, the owners don't care who it is as long as someone pays for the seat

I like it.

Traditional people of the desert, owning the biggest club in the world.

Shitloads of money.
We already have one of the biggest coaching talent at the helm.

Buy him a couple of good players and watch us rule the football again, 99 all over again.

Hope Sir Alex lives to see us lift the Premiership and CL again.
