If you're going to take the report about the Musk interest in any way seriously (and I don't think you should) you could at least be clear on the fact that the article is suggesting it would be Musk backed by parties from Saudi Arabia allegedly unconnected to Newcastle. Heavy emphasis on allegedly.

So not quite as simple as Qatar v Musk. But the report reads like horseshit anyway so hardly matters.

Yeah... that's not gonna happen. Once you see a fluid front three of Mbappe, Rashford, Garnacho you'll be back!

Haha I am devastated at how exciting we are to watch at the moment. That much is true. Stupid corrupt autocratic nation states taking my fun away.

What excites me most about Saudi Arabia buying us is the drama queens claiming to care about social issues will feck off and support another club. I'm a proper man me, I like my slaves cheap and my women without any independence or freedom. And anyone who is against beheading are just pansy prick soyboys. Keep. United. Saudi.

What excites me most about Qatar buying us is the drama queens claiming to stop following Utd and football following through with it.
Why? It's not like United fans haven't put their money where their mouth is in the past with stopping going to watch United, heck FC United were getting like 4k after they were first set up. The issue is there are that many of us that as soon as someone drops a ST it's hoovered up by someone else.

Those of you prefering Elon feckin Musk over Qatar need to give your heads a wobble.

Yes it would be sad to be associated with a state like Qatar, but how you'd prefer some manic loon who aligns himself with far-right rhetoric and is proven to be a disaster in owning billion-dollar companies I will never understand. A pretty Tesla logo on our shirts doesn't soften that macabre reality.
I mean, while I don't disagree with your take on Elon Musk, I have no idea how you come to the conclusion that a sovereign fund of Qatar, considering that State's track record on human rights notably, is better. Dismissing it with a "it would be sad to be associated with them, but..." doesn't quite cut it for me - they're both awful options.

Nope and yes, second hand refurbished though for work. I also volunteer at a food bank one day a month, donate 5% of my post tax income to a homeless charity, buy renewable energy and offset my carbon emissions if I fly anywhere or drive long distance. I litter pick my street once a week. I'm literally jesus. Does that qualify me to have an opinion now and be a sanctimonious twat about it? Not really. I'm not telling you what to do with your life, but for me this is not cool to support this green washing. I've been watching United since 1990 when I was 4. Cantona is my hero. He wouldn't be cool with this either.

This is such a daft strawman though that you have to be so absolutist about this kind of thing. You can eat meat and disagree with this. Quit gatekeeping.

I also didn't watch the world cup. I only did this so I can win online arguments on redcafe.
I’m not telling others what to do… all I’m saying is that you don’t need to feel bad about supporting the club now (which I’m sure a lot of people are having moral dilemmas on). Sure you can choose to not support the club if it makes you feel happier. But where it gets touchy is when the same people force those opinions onto others acting all high and mighty (not pointing to you at all - just the general sentiment im getting from the opposition in this thread).

It’s like the transfer threads in here - replace player name with new owner’s names and it’s exactly the same type of responses.

In other words - you don’t have to panic every time you see us linked with someone. Manchester United is huge news. Mike Keegan obviously has a source but his source could be a massive BS merchant.

Since January it’s been:

“Ratcliffe is buying us”

“Qatar is buying us”

“Saudis are buying us”

“No, it’s Qatar”

“Musk has entered the ring”

Everybody panic!

Just chill. Whatever happens, happens. We have zero say in the matter.

I personally blame the queen, since she died everything went tits up.

He's 'associated' with Man Utd because he's one of our biggest and most iconic academy exports. Of course he fecking cares about the club ffs.
Did you see his fecking idiotic promotion vids for Qatar? The guy is a wanker, sorry.

Nah, buddy, this ain't it.

Second this. As long as they keep the unicycle toilets out of OT I'm all for it.

Everyone has a limit, you just haven't found yours.
What does that even mean? So your saying everyone who’s gonna continue supporting the club “haven’t found their limit”? Look I want to state im against the regime potentially taking over United. But it doesn’t make you a bad person

Agreed. Get the woke brigade who care about that stuff out.

Does anyone know if Joseph kony is considering making a bid because I think he would be a splendid owner and representative for the club

As is Musk, this is a guy who pals around with those within the far-right circle (under his false guise of 'freedom of speech'), loves a good dogwhistle at the expense of the lgbt community (under the guise of tackling 'woke' culture) and keeps esteemed company like Rupert Murdoch.

So yes, he's just as scummy. What makes him infinitely worse is he'd have absolutely no idea what he's doing as evident with his Twitter escapades, and the recent outpouring of Tesla scandals. The Qataris would at least be expected to let footballing people making the executive sporting decisions, Musk would likely sack the bulk of the employees and start making decisions himself. We'd be the biggest laughing stock in Football.

The bolded is really the only thing that makes him worse. It's very bizarre that you're trying to paint one man who's admittedly a twat (but with a far more limited circle of influence) as being worse than, or on the same level than the government of an oil state with a long list of human rights atrocities. I dislike Musk, but come on now :wenger:

Nah I dont mean that as all. I'm talking about personal limits. You might not care about the Qatar stuff, or are able to separate it from sport, but surely there must be something you care strongly about. ie what if it was someone similar to Epstein.

Agreed. I am sick of the unicyclist agenda being thrown into every argument these days - I mean how many unicycles so you even come across in day to day life? Keep unicycles out of OT. Bi or get out.

He's nowhere near the level of scum as the Qataris. Who has Musk had tortured? Who is he oppressing?

He says and does some ridiculous things, is clearly socially awkward and possibly insane.

He's only better when compared to the alternative. The best option is neither but the figures being quoted mean the pool is limited.

I'm resigned to having a scummy owner, something we as fans unfortunately have no control over. Both Qatar and Musk are scumbags, you can make the case for one being far worse than the other but in the grand scheme of things we're going to be stuck with an absolute cnut(s).

Now having resigned to that reality, the main concern would be who would be better (and worse) at owning the club, and on that front its absolutely no debate. Musk would be a disaster for United.

Cantona already has come out and said MU would not be his club anymore if Qatar bid goes through. It is not surprising he has got bigger balls than most fans on here.

The state of this post :wenger:

Qatar is a "far right" state according most commonplace definitions.

is it acting high and mighty to *correctly* point out that Qatar is an absolute monarchy with horrible human rights track record, especially to women, migrant workers and gay people? I don’t think so. If it makes you uncomfortable now, get used to never hearing the end of it every time you go to a match, or discuss football with opposition fans if the sale to Qatar goes ahead.

If this happens, the forums will descend into a civil war much worse than anything we've seen from the days of Mourinho and Ole.

I'm not doing a whole 'race to the bottom' brainstorm as to who's worse. Yes on a global level you'd argue the Qataris are worse, but it doesn't exactly absolve Musk of being a terrible human being.

And yes the bolded bit is something that personally swings it for me. If I've accepted I'm not going to like our owners, I'd very much prefer they wouldn't run the club to the ground and start making disastrous executive decisions, something Musk is clearly prone to.

What are Norway up to these days? They seem like a less tyrannical oil state. I think we should create a petition for them to buy us.

We’re in their bad books after we sent their favourite son packing. They’ll probably end up buying Liverpool anyway since most noggies gravitate towards being scouse.

'I'm sure the woman's team will be excited'

keep seeing this. as if PSG and City don't have a woman's team, are they protesting at every game? or do they just collect they're wages and play football?

It's just a nonsense and pathetic take really. Not only PSG and City but an Emirates backed Arsenal literally put in a world record bid for Russo a couple of weeks back.

A lifelong United supporter and a superstar should never be in a position where she is running her contract down, is subject to a world record bid from fecking Arsenal and is considering joining them on a free in the summer. That's a very damning reflection on Man Utd WFC's overall standing in the game. The leeches have showed zero ambition on the women's side. When you show zero ambition your players and staff will eventually move on to bigger and better things.

The women's game will grow rapidly in the next years in terms of attendances, wages, transfer fees etc. We need to wake up and join the fray or risk being left behind. Qatari owners will put the women's team on the map despite what certain posters on their high horses are claiming. Manchester United deserves to be the best club in the world, both on the women's and men's side.
