Shame we’re aren’t more like Brighton
Stronge? I think it’s perfectly cromulent!Stronge point of contention.

Agreed. This is the first time that a state sponsored group will take over one of the historical mega clubs that already has a gigantic fanbase. I imagine things will feel a lot different that the plastic vibes you get with a Manchester City or PSG. We were already big club that spent lots of money...we will continue to be a big club that spends a bit more money. It's not like we're going to spend any more than what Real Madrid or Barcelona have spent over the years and the soccer world continues to fawn all over them.Since he is a fan and filthy rich, now whatever its worth, Qatar takeover is fine with me.
All the whitewashing projects took a relatively unknown team to glory, but the level of scrutiny that comes with Manchester United football club might end up benefiting Qatar as well and improve some of the things that needs correction. If not then there is nothing else we can do anyway.
And to think United fans are called arrogant and entitled. I wonder what gives that impression??I don't give a rats ass about rival fans and the media, they have been 'haranguing' Utd since before i was around and will be haranging Utd long after i'm gone.
Utd belong at the very top of club football and owners are needed that can restore and maintain this. Someone mentioned City being changed by new owners, thats true in their case because they have a long history of being sh%&e and now are really good.
That's one of the reasons I call some folks supporters and some folks fansWhy's it that hard to believe that allegiance to the club might not carry the same weight for everyone? Being a supporter for you might be life or death, support the club through anything, but for others, it's simply entertainment, and as soon as said entertainment runs afoul of their principles, it's easy to check-out.
Do you eat meat? Do you own a smartphone? I know it’s frustrating to be owned by what you despise, but everything you do, own or support has some form of twisted ethics. I get not wanting the Qataris to own us but what do you gain by not supporting the club anymore? Man United (the football club, culture etc) is entirely separate from the owners. Personally I’m not be giving any of my money away by buying shirts, merch etc as that goes straight to the owners. But I’ll still follow Man Utd and you don’t have to feel bad about doing so (all in my opinion)Guess these are the final weeks / months of me being a United (and probably football altogether) supporter...damn...
Qatar v Elon Musk. What a time to be alive
Yea but we are United. Hated, adored and all that.In actuality, you hardly ever see Citeh or Guardiola getting their accomplishments downplayed in the press because of their dubious owners.
In fact you rarely ever hear it brought up at all unless there's a scandal/investigation going on
I wonder if UEFA going to permit transfers between PSG and United in the meantime. Mbappe swapped for Phil Jones sounds like a reasonable deal to me.Maybe they'll give UEFA a guarantee that they'll sell PSG in a couple of years?
Considering this gigantic size of United's global fanabase, 2000 fans leaving would be like a fart in the wind. It's really not hard that hard to believe that this would be the straw that broke the camel's back for many people. You'll be surprised to learn that several thousand fans left the club when the Glazers took over and formed their own club. Some people have a different moral compass to your own - shock!
Everyone has a limit, you just haven't found yours.Do you eat meat? Do you own a smartphone? to be fair obviously City’s identity has changed, massively.
Shouldn't even be a debate. One is far, far worse in every respect to the other and would begin a shameful period for not just United, but football in general.
Please note I said worse, as in neither are good.
Definetely if its qatari ownership. No need to be listed.Wonder if the buyout of Man Utd is also going to involve taking us off the stock exchange

This is a very snide post. The club can be every bit as serious a part of people lives and them still feel like they have to walk away to protest ownership they do not condone. They shouldn’t be belittled for taking a moral stance. I’m sure for many the prospect of losing their love of the club to state ownership is a real cause of genuine grief. Why's it that hard to believe that allegiance to the club might not carry the same weight for everyone? Being a supporter for you might be life or death, support the club through anything, but for others, it's simply entertainment, and as soon as said entertainment runs afoul of their principles, it's easy to check-out.

Agreed. Qatari ownership would mean finally (eventually) getting a 90,000 + OT stadium and world class facilities. World class training ground and the finanical means to compete for the most elite players and the other state owned clubs.I just want us to be the dominant force in a way Real are, with 10 European cups at least, only Qatar can make it happen
Seeing as glazers want a one paragraph bid with the amount on it and pretty much nothing else this friday, i think that sums up their position. Is there any reason to think a bid from Qatar wouldn't be the biggest and wouldn't be the one accepted?
Because I am assuming the valuation other parties place on the club are likely to be more constrained by business rationale and there's no reason for the Glazers to do anything other than opt for the highest bid.
Is there any factor I'm missing that makes it more complicated than that? Aside from having to convince UEFA there are no significant ties to other Qatari backed clubs, I guess.
Please go silently as the rest of us would like to enjoy this new era.
As is Musk, this is a guy who pals around with those within the far-right circle (under his false guise of 'freedom of speech'), loves a good dogwhistle at the expense of the lgbt community (under the guise of tackling 'woke' culture) and keeps esteemed company like Rupert Murdoch.Anyone preferring Qatar is a disgrace. May as well get some Russia gangsters in, or the fat lad in North Korea.
The Qataris are certified scum, like the Saudis and the rest of those self appointed leaders.
You'll be backExactly what's gonna happen, no worries
What excites me most about Qatar buying us is the drama queens claiming to stop following Utd and football following through with it.The parting gift from the Glazers - selling Man Utd to that disgusting qatar regime.
The worse thing that ever happened to Utd was the Glazers.
For me personally, the moment that sale takes place, Man Utd cease to exist.
What is the exact rule? Doesn't Ratcliffe also own another club?
Good postEach year, UEFA sets a deadline for the submission of various documents for clubs who wish to compete in UEFA competitions in the following season. For example, let's say United qualify for next year's Champions League - this summer they would need to submit a document that presents the club's legal group structure (which includes naming any party with 10% or greater ownership or voting rights), as well as documents detailing their ultimate controlling parties, their ultimate beneficiaries and any parties with significant influence (eg people who can appoint or remove Board members). They also have to disclose the identities of key management personnel, including directors and executives.
As part of the club information, the club must then clearly identify any other football clubs over which any of the parties identified in its legal groups structure, its ultimate controlling party, its ultimate beneficiary and any party with significant influence, or any of their key management personnel, have "control" or "significant influence".
"Control" is defined as: "The power to conduct the activities of an entity and to direct its financial, operating or sporting policies which affect returns, by means of share ownership, voting power, constitutional documents (statutes), agreement, or otherwise."
Significant influence" is defined as: "The power to participate in the financial, operating or sporting policies of an entity, but not in control or joint control of that entity, by means of share ownership, voting power, constitutional documents (statutes), agreement, or otherwise."
No single person or entity may exert control or significant influence over two clubs in the same UEFA competition.

That’s what we’re hoping for. The Emir of Qatar. How about we get the fans to buy the club out?????
Some people are proper odd. He's 'associated' with Man Utd because he's one of our biggest and most iconic academy exports. Of course he fecking cares about the club ffs.
I wonder how many of them watched the corrupt World CupWhat excites me most about Qatar buying us is the drama queens claiming to stop following Utd and football following through with it.

Weird post, honestly. What excites me most about Qatar buying us is the drama queens claiming to stop following Utd and football following through with it.
The receipts are here for everyone to see. I bet they can't stay away from the CAF for more than 24 hours after the sale goes down. What excites me most about Qatar buying us is the drama queens claiming to stop following Utd and football following through with it.

So yes, he's just as scummy. What makes him infinitely worse is he'd have absolutely no idea what he's doing as evident with his Twitter escapades, and the recent outpouring of Tesla scandals. The Qataris would at least be expected to let footballing people making the executive sporting decisions, Musk would likely sack the bulk of the employees and start making decisions himself. We'd be the biggest laughing stock in Football.
That will shave off 0.01% of posters immediately.I heard a rumour that once the bid is accepted, and in honour of our new overlord dictators, RedCafe will be heavily censored on the day, and only male posters will be allowed to post.
Nope and yes, second hand refurbished though for work. I also volunteer at a food bank one day a month, donate 5% of my post tax income to a homeless charity, buy renewable energy and offset my carbon emissions if I fly anywhere or drive long distance. I litter pick my street once a week. I'm literally jesus. Does that qualify me to have an opinion now and be a sanctimonious twat about it? Not really. I'm not telling you what to do with your life, but for me this is not cool to support this green washing. I've been watching United since 1990 when I was 4. Cantona is my hero. He wouldn't be cool with this either.
This is such a daft strawman though that you have to be so absolutist about this kind of thing. You can eat meat and disagree with this. Quit gatekeeping.
I also didn't watch the world cup. I only did this so I can win online arguments on redcafe.

I'd rather the Atari's didn't buy us tbh. The 2600 was a great console and everything but they haven't been relevant in about 30 years.
