If I had to hazard a guess, I reckon it actually will be a consortium of Qatari private investors as well as a 33% or so minority stake from the state themselves via QIA or whoever. It makes sense to me as we'd been hearing for weeks that Qatar were looking at minority stakes.

The consortium then will be private Qatar investors with favourable relations to the state and they get promised a good deal as the state will probably put up the dosh for the infrastructure and investments and the consortium just need to chip in for the initial takeover. Seems to make the most sense to me.

Well, I don't, so we're at an impasse.

I find this argument nauseating. Do you people suddenly stop eating food because of what they do and how despicable some of them are? Have you ever watched what some of them do to animals? May I remind you what type of shit Nestle are up to? I still drink Nescafe. This fecking moral bullshit is exhausting. If you care so much about it, then stop watching and supporting the club. It's that simple.

You make it sound like the future ownership somehow relies on how the two of us feel about it. Bizarre.

And I find your whataboutism extremely tiring. Ownership by an oil state notorious for human rights violations would lessen my opinion of the club to the level, where I don't think I would find enjoyment in supporting it. And yes, that would probably lead to me not watching anymore. This is just how I feel. I am not forcing that view on others.

Qatar will buy Liverpool I think and we'll get Ineos.

More likely to be the opposite to be honest. It depends just how much SJR wants a football club or just us. But then he had a cheeky little bid for Chelsea, so who knows.

I would rather United never win another thing than United being owned by the Qataris.

Manchester United's foundations are built on winning. Entertaining. Bringing through the youth and being brave to play them.

Manchester United is not about who their owners are.

So your stance is essentially Ratcliffe or you stop supporting the club? An outcome of which you will have no control over.

Whats the threshold for you? Is Qatar/Saudi the only redline for you? Or would you accept some slightly less evil US billionaire for instance who backs politicians that are anti LGBT, anti-abortion, pro gun, vehemently pro Israeli apartheid etc (I'm not saying any such bidder exists, just trying to understand where you draw the line for what would constitute you stop supporting the club).

If you're in favour of tarnishing United's reputation through state ownership, you're not a United fan either.

See how stupid and reductive that is?

In who's eyes will United reputation be tarnished? Yours?

This a million times over. The fans don't decide the owners as unfortunate is that is. The fanbase unanimously despises the Glazers but that hasn't stopped has boasting the highest attendances in the league during their tenure.

I've got news for you: You don't get to decide what constitutes a fan of Manchester United.
Thankfully I don't need to, as the textbook definition of a fan is someone who wants the club to succeed and you obviously don't so you aren't a United fan.

I know you shouldn’t really get into personal feelings with these people but I fecking loathe these guys so much. Read the fecking room and sell. Make your money and feck off.

Well unlucky for them their ownership model has reached an impasse. They can't afford to invest in a new stadium, and they can't simply rely on Ten Hag delivering miracles without investing into the squad. Oh and the super league dream is dead.

I mean, if you narrow down the potential ownership outcomes to Ratcliffe and Qatar, then I guess that is the logical conclusion.

Reading between the lines... No one is going to match or get anywhere near the asking price. Might get a co-owner..., or if the Glazers actually want to sell entirely, they need a realistic asking price.

Reading between the lines, you haven't got a clue how much the interested parties are willing to pay. None of us have a clue about most of the stuff being discussed in this thread

Wrong again. Congratulations.

The definition of fan, if we go by the Oxford English Dictionary, is: "a person who admires somebody/something or enjoys watching or listening to somebody/something very much".

And for me the admiration and enjoyment part would be negatively impacted. Voila.

Tbh it doesn't make any sense paying what the Glazers are asking for, when there are cheaper options(Spurs)
Cheaper, and they already have the shiny new stadium. There's event better value if you go further down the hierachy and look at the likes of Everton, Leeds and West Ham - historic clubs with large fanbases that would require a fraction of the investment needed.

Well as far as I'm aware those are the only potential bidders we know of, so as far as we're concerned it does seem like a binary choice at this point.

You say wrong again but I wasn't wrong to begin with, you're obviously not a United fan, plain and simple.

Just posturing to drive the price up by the glazers and down by the buyers. 6bln is no problem for Qataris.

Let’s see , bids are in by next week plenty of twists and turns to come.

Qataris seem confident so perhaps the only ones willing to pay.

Sir Alex Ferguson stayed on after the Glazers took over. What a terrible guy.
Not only that, he publicly praised them as being good owners and condemned fans who started FCUM and questioned their loyalty to MUFC. Do we stop admiring him because of that?

According to some, Ineos will take on billions of loans to buy us, then leave us self-sustaining with all our revenue all the while they will service the loans out of their own pockets. Am I reading this right?

Seems legit. Out of the kindness of their hearts.

In the coming years, the Qatari will be finished as oil revenue drops. Green energy is quickly becoming cheaper than fossil fuels.

They are not a viable party for the long term.

You do realise that the glazers aren’t sure to sell media leaks are just well timed pieces to exert maximum pressure on interested parties with the deadline looming.

If they admit with open arms they want it gone the value drops considerably.
