This is the first time that Nice is competing with PSG for the title. Before this season Nice flirted 6th, 9th, 5th and 9th. And as said, everyone used to pump money in the club and that include INEOS Nice. They have the 3rd highest net spend in the French league and unlike PSG (1st btw) they have very little to show for.

I don't know why we're still speaking about Qatar. They don't own our club. I am just commenting about them because I think its unfair to call PSG 'clowns' to defend INEOS. Both Nice and Lausanne were poorly run as well, the latter is still run badly.

Exactly, they took over a team that had just finished seventh. How on earth were you expecting them to compete for the title in any of the first four seasons whilst actually following financial Fairplay regulations? That’s where you’re making very little sense.

I’d say five seasons is a pretty sound timeline for a club following the rules, as we know now, Man City took the absolute piss out of the rules and it still took them three seasons.

Post INEOS, Nice were 6th, 9th, 5th and 9th. Pre INEOS they were 7th, 8th, 3rd and 4th. Despite spending less they did better prior to INEOS then post INEOS. INEOS many mistakes at Nice are there to be seen. They themselves admit to it. I reckon that this is the first year that they are run properly. Meanwhile Lausanne are still doing badly and they had been part of the INEOS team since 2017

Post INEOS Nice are the 3rd biggest spenders in the league and yet they had lingered at 6th, 9th, 5th and 9th respectively. If you analyze the previous 4 years they were 4th, 3rd, 7th and 8th. Thus pre INEOs Nice reached higher heights then post INEOS (3rd vs 5th) and didn't suffer the lows as post INEOS (8th vs 9th). Apart from this year Nice had faired better without INEOS than with them, so yes, they were poorly run. Things had changed this season and I am the first to highlight that.

Lausanne are last in the Swiss league again and doomed to be relegated again. That would be the 3rd relegation since INEOS took over. Please note that there were was a time when they didn't manage to get themselves promoted as well.

So clearly Nice were on the slide before INEOS arrived surely? And with having the league’s 8th highest payroll I’d say their average league position has been not far off and if they can maintain their season, I’d say that’s fantastic within 5 years to finish second with the 8th highest payroll.
FFP means Nice can’t buy big and pay big, unlike PsG who cheated the feck out of their way to the top.

As said they learnt their lesson this season and things had improved. Yet things were bad prior to that. They invested big at Lausanne as well (relatively speaking).Swiss Journalist Andre Boschetti nailed it when he said "The limits of INEOS are in the knowledge of football. They probably love the sport but they don't know much about it and they haven't surrounded themselves with the right people, which explains the wreck that followed." Dante echoed the same line of thought " “I think at some point you have to be clear in what you’re saying. Things had improved at Nice since then and I was the first to applaud that but let's not pretend that INEOS were running their football assets well prior to this season (for Nice not Lausanne, the latter are still crap). It would be a heavily biased thing to say.
 
How soon did you expect a smallish club like Nice, following FFP, to stop the slide and get into title challenges Dev?
As I say, it took City having the biggest spend, biggest wage bill and massive cheating 3 years.
I think Liverpool are a well run club, how long did it take them?

I think they’ve tried things, changed it up, gone again until they’ve reached a formula that appears to have them on the right track.

Not so different from FSG at Liverpool.

I think to be where they are currently within 5 years with the 8th highest wage bill reminds me somewhat of Liverpool.

Well run for me isn’t doing a City or PSG (cheating & spending much more than everyone else), and certainly not a fecking Glazer, it’s about seeing problems, and changing it up, evolving until a winning formula is found.
When we’re looking at shit run clubs, the likes of United and Boehly at Chelsea jump out, not shitty little Nice with the 8th highest wage bill in their league, but each to their own.

That's down to a great club structure with a great CEO and owners though, and Ashworth isn't the only one responsible for that. Chelsea signed a majority of their backroom staff who worked under Ashworth and they're still shite.
 
Yes let's allow people to have a go at Ratcliffe before he's even started, despite being the first person in 18 years to actually put his own money into Manchester united.

If only the Glazers had put that amount in during the last couple of decades instead of taking dividends and increasing the debt

Considering that Nice has yet to manage a third place position isn't very great then (especially considering that they were doing better before the takeover despite having lower finances)?

Saying that, Nice probably does not matter on how INEOS does here. Different budgets, different ways of ruling the club. This is a far more serious business for SJR than Nice was.

It's the biggest change to happen at our club in 20 years and finally the Glazers have one foot out the door you're damn right I'm going to be optimistic for the future.

Also for the first time we have an owner coming in and investing straight away. Might not be enough but it's a start. Not expecting things to change straight away but I'm optimistic for sure.

Try Googling the deal and the specifics… one way or another, it’s almost certain they’ll be gone, either from a total sale (incl Ratcliffes shares if terms met) or a full sale to Ratcliffe.

And share the posts saying he’s “our 2nd Fergie” … else that’s just you being dramatic for the sake of it.

The Glazers have taken a ridiculous amount out in dividends, wasted tfr funds, employed idiots, had no structure and did feck (I use an ‘e’) all about the ground.

Now, there’ll be no dividends for three years (min), some form is structure from people involved in top football/sport and monies invested into the ground/infrastructure.

It’s an improvement… I’m happy it’s an improvement… I’m hopeful it will get better still. Shoot me.

It’s astounding how many people don’t see the actual problem in this part of it.

The boy should have been given the minutes to flourish here. The whole spectacle that was his visit only compounds the lack of on-field commitment in favour of McFred.

Also, he’s hardly going to come out & say, ‘Me & my family went round Carrington then quickly realised it was a shit show so left’’. The fact we got him to come in means the United were never an option point is suspect. More like, United were never an option [once we took a tour & realised OgS was wrongfully employed whilst the higher ups were cretins].

It will rankle for some time that we blew that opportunity, heads should have rolled then.

That is the case about everything here, if people are positive or optimistic about anything they get shot down. Like in Mainoo case, people being excited about young talent got called out as thinking that "he will be our sole savior" and that they shouldn't get carried away etc. Everything is about fecking extremes.

God forbid being positive about something, we should all just be in constant misery.
