Glad to avoid the oil-spill. Sad to still have those rats aboard.

Mixed bag ey. How long is the transition (if there is one) meant to be? Jim's not exactly a spring chicken now is he.

Can imagine morale at the club will be on the floor at this development, it is nothing short of a sporting tragedy what has happened to this club in recent years, it was an absolute behemoth of a club and pre 2005 completely debt free, there is no doubt that the club has parasitical owners whose only motivation has been self enrichment, I'm not sure that we will ever get back the Manchester United that we grew up with, and worse than that, I can see things going altogether from bad to much worse in the coming months

Alright, realistically Jim buys 25% of the club from Glazers.

How much of that will actually go to the club? If he is buying the shares from Glazers, surely all that will happen is they take the profit and we see 0 investment.

That is my biggest fear.

Debt still here, OT falling apart, training ground well out of date and a board that is indecisive.

The 25% purchase is the investment, assuming it goes into the club and not straight into Glazer pockets (which I doubt), and he's making that investment as he expects to receive more money over time than he's paying for that 25%. The Glazers have made lots of money from us, despite being terrible owners, and with the talk of better TV deals etc there's a possibility that dividends and valuations will increase dramatically.

It's possible that this is a stepping stone to full ownership, but it's also possible that we're adding another leech to the existing group sucking the club dry. Time will tell.

Of course, he's expecting the value of his shares to increase and/or to take full control. I dont think anyone is debating that point?

The Manchester United you grew up with had a support that has constantly protested against being owned by people like Sheikh Jassim. Hope this helps.

Maybe, in your eyes, we should have just let Rupert Murdoch buy us in 1998.

If you buy something then sell part of it, would you expect the proceeds to go to you or back into the thing you originally bought? The club is getting nothing out of this, and to be fair, why would it?! And therein lies the problem.

They also wanted Greenwood back and he wanted to sign Arnautovic, what they think is worth dick. Obviously this isn't a great result but it's still better than United becoming a tool for any state.
No but we’ve just added another leech to the shareholder register that’s all.

Why would that money go to the club? Unless the shareholders agree to put more money in together, it won't come to United.

I mean considering the news just coming out now that broke boy Ratcliffe - whilst only getting a minority stake to begin with - will be taking over in the long run because he met the Glazers valuation so clearly he wanted United more than Qatar, it’s as simple as that really. For clarity i wanted neither but not like we have much choice
I am with you about being a bit doubtful about either bidder. It was more Qatar could fix things quicker I suppose. SJR I have big doubts about. He is treated like some knight in shining armour, when he record with regards to how his company is run leaves a lot to be desired. His running of sports teams and recruitment is worrying as well. This is what happens when you are owned by people who let your beloved club stagnate to the extent some big bidders who may have been interested just see us as an expensive folly.

I’m officially done with this club. Unfollowed the club on Twitter, deleted the United app and won’t be going to Old Trafford this season at least.

Maybe tank some extra oil tonight, cry in the car and burn some LGBT wristbands?

Feck this.

good bye caf, good bye United. I’m done with leaches taking money from this club.

alway support you, just not wasting my time for the foreseen future.

Each has their own breaking limit. Anyone supporting an owner who’s taken £1b out of the club is a disgrace and anyone supporting this over someone who was wanting to improve so much in the club I’ll never get .

The entire "sale of United" process was a sham. The Glazer's clearly NEVER wanted to sell. So our fate is sealed. We are the new Nottingham Forrest. We are no longer going to be a big club going forward
This. Anyone who thinks we are going to be a force anytime soon is delusional. We play absolute gutter tier football on the pitch... Worst run club in the prem... Probs not a full takeover for about 5 years if we are lucky and then sir Jim will be absolute crap too. Maybe next decade though!

Avram and his mob are still majority owners and they have more money in their pockets. Worst possible outcome for the club and fans.

Only an all-time great manager can save us now from long-term mediocrity on the pitch.

So, after a year of this farce, nothing changes whatsoever. All for nothing as far as the club is concerned. The Glazers remain fully in charge.

I'll be very curious as to how they agree any price for Ratcliffe's purported future option to purchase the remaining shares.

If such an option even exists.

you could have pep and klopp together and we still would be an absolute pathetic excuse of a team.

The news about the sheikh is big, huge in fact, but leaving the Caf is a bold move....

For this to have dragged on for this long and this outcome is sadly what we should have expected. Those greedy Glazers always want more more more. Such a shame the state of our club.

Looks like Qatari are pumping up the fans, to show them what they are missing0. :D.

One year ago, if Manchester United fans were told that we would soon be on the way to being owned by a life long United fan and self-made billionaire, born and raised 7 miles from OT, most would be delighted.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Future Manchester United owner and the man that is going to take control from The Glazers....

After trying to buy Chelsea

What is the point in buying 25% in MUFC?

Class A shares don't pay dividends, so no value there.
The club won't sell 100% any time soon as even Qatar cant get a deal done, so no return on investment for 25%.

Clearly Ineos's first step to full control. Remember, The Glazers increased their stake in MUFC incrementally. And that was at a time when the ownership structure was far simpler.
Sorry pal, Ratcliffe is going to have to pay a massive premium to get overall control. If Qatar can’t do it I doubt Jim can. I also have serious doubts he can get his 25% deal over the line. We are stuffed at this point. A strategic review to find much needed investment for the club has ended in this shambles, with no investment for the club.

Support the club, hate the owners

Thought most were expecting the Qataris to raise the price and not lose face?
