As a horse racing fan I know what Dubai has done for this sport over the last 30 years or so with Godolphin, if it can do the same for United then we'll be in a good place.. and I'd also love to see us in a kit with the Godolphin blue!
Seconded. They have a reputation for honesty and are well thought of in the industry, but importantly they want the best, and they get it.

A blue away kit would be acceptable.

The Indian government? I am Indian and I am also against some of the things the government does but they aren't that extreme and I won't mind Ambani buying the club, it's better than ME owners at least.

Maybe unrelated but reality is every major country “funds foreign terrorism”.

It’s only when the ones they fund are the ones we don’t like we complain

Is he a football fan?

They give seems pretty aggressive in how he does his business so maybe he'd be alright.

They've just got lucky that they are able to sell in a postion of relaitve strength on the football side, and will probably only confirm now is the right time to get out, as they must know by now
how quickly it go the other way.

They probably can't actually believe their luck, as if we were struggling then it'd likely impact on the process and the sale price, but fans are happy/distracted right now, so it's working out very nicely for them, which they of course don't deserve, but for United's future it can only be a good thing.

Interesting I thought where it said in the article that the price could be affected either way by us getting (or not getting) CL football, so you'd have thought they'd want to really push hard in this window to make sure we stood every chance of getting it, as it's not like they'd ulitmately be paying, and yet would reap the rewards if we did get top 4, the conclusion I draw is that we are further into the takeover than even the article says, ie the Glazers can't authorise a big transfer now even if they wanted to, or more likely that there literally is no money to do it, and the banks won't lend any significant money out to them either.
You're applying cold, logical thinking to the situation, which I wouldn't at all trust the Glazers to replicate.

I think there's also a good chance they'll be overcome by the short-sighted thinking of a gambler on a streak, where their brains follow the lines of "well if we can get £6bn now, maybe after just a few seasons' consistent Champions League football and using some new minority investment wisely, we can get £10bn".

I sincerely hope they don't start getting any funny ideas now that the club has started finding some success on the pitch. Like not selling. They need to be gone before summer.

I agree, take Finland for example. All they do is to fund foreign terrorism, young kids are learned how to fund foreign terrorism before they can walk, they honor the Fund Foreign Terrorism Day, etc.

;)

Yeah, the same thought has crossed my mind, but objectively the better we do on the pitch the more likely a sale should be.

Looking at this team from the outside, there are real concerns regarding our financial status. If we don’t finish top 4 this year — next summer we are a team that needs to cut costs next summer and that have missed the CL two years in a row.

I see your point

But if they decide not to sell now, they won’t get the same interest the next time they decide to sell, because they’d have messed Raine and the interested parties around

I also think part of the reason for the recent form has been the hope of a brighter future around the club due to the Glazers being open to a sale

They're scumbags, but they're not stupid, us going through a decent spell on the pitch won't pay for a new stadium and training ground, and as quickly as we start doing well, it will all unravel very quickly if they don't invest properly in the team year on year, which the club haven't got the money to do under them.

They have actually just got lucky in finally getting a decent manager in when it matters the most to them, and also when the bids go in it will likely be odds on for us getting CL so yet more pluses for them to get highest bid possible, I bet they can't believe their luck, and if anything i'd think they'll be wanting to speed the process up in case it starts going wrong again.

To me they rolled the dice in the summer knowing they wouldn't be here the following summer, and it's worked about as well as it possibly could for them.

I couldn't have said it better

I agree the most discernible aspect that is warranting a sale seems solely related to fiscal issues (which explains the partial sale motivations they need capital). There's too much of a financial demand and burden where the clubs money seemingly can no longer cater for and it's going to require third party investment. Coupled in with FSG and the conditions of the Chelsea sale I'm sure it's persuaded them to part ways. Even if United won the league and some other domestic competition it probably strengthens their negotiation position more than anything.

India has been actively backing Russia’s war in Ukraine by helping fund it so not a fan of them either.

They have had a stance of kinda anti war yet at the same time buying all the Russian oil they can get to selfishly take advantage of western sanctions.

NATO and the US will likely remember this in years to come. We found out who was on our side and India wasn’t.

I've just read that the Qatari's are giving priority to buying Liverpool.

A few people have said that they can't buy outright as they own PSG so it would have to be a minority investment?

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is this true.

Would hate for them to get a full Qatari take over while the Glazers sell us down river to other US opportunists whose only interest will be profits

Wouldn't surprise me... Liverpool would be a great investment

I think Davos is the big financial meet in Switzerland where all the billionaires go to discuss how they feck over all us peasants - we have a popup stall there presumably to advertise the club and entice buyers.

Also a great avenue to conduct business meetings with prospective buyers. Although it must be noted that Manchester United personnel have always been attending WEF, thus this is not something new.

Yeah QSI was reportedly only looking for minority ownership in a PL club. Their main focus right now is still PSG.

Funny that people don't want ME states for ethical reasons but are fine with Ambani, who's bankrolling BJP, the political entity responsible for literally lynching Muslims in the streets, bulldozing their homes and trying to create an apartheid state.
Yeah, the moral compass often seems to be applied selectively here.

Don't post without a source! It's probably BS to be fair.

Also your post doesn't make sense. Qatar can't buy Liverpool or United as a majority. Its not just us.

India was over whelmed with you guys sending all the vaccines and all the help you could during pandemic. I hope you guys stopped buying gas from Russia and trades with China.

Chelsea just spent 500m in 6 months
Arsenal are also top of the league. American ownership doesn't have to mean a leveraged buyout and putting incompetent people in charge (which has been a huge factor, we've spent enough in the last decade to compete but just done so really poorly).

Not very well so far. I'm yet to see a great example of American ownership.

FSG is the best we've seen so far.

Anyway I'm done with Americans owning this club. They are the last people I'd want after the Glazers.

Maybe that's irrational to paint them all with the same brush but it is what it is.

The source is a Qatari journalist "@Qatari" on twitter, apparently he has state connections and likely wouldn't say these things if there wasn't some truth.

Of course it's nothing official so could all be nonsense. (Hopefully)

Regarding the confusing part, yes you're right it wouldn't matter who they bought if a minority is all they can take, but was unsure though if that's actually the case or can they outright buy a Premier League team?

Agreed if we'd spent well and run things properly we'd be absolutely fine, the problem is we've wasted a feck tonne of money and ran the club worse than my local grassroots teams.

If Liverpool get Qatar and we get Americans it's hard to see us ever competing again in the long term.

I agree. Another American ownership will be the end of the club as part of the elite. Seeing people throw FSG and Kroenke as examples of good American owners is completely and utterly laughable.

Liverpool were largely irrelevant for many years, except that one season, after FSG acquired them, before they struck gold with Klopp. And even then they were very careful not too invest beyond the absolute minimum. For the supposed golden age of Liverpool, they don't really have that much to show for it. And now their squad is in dire need of a refresh and FSG are seeking an outside investment or a straight up sale. What do you suppose happens if Klopp leaves and FSG remain in charge?

Arsenal have been irrelevant for more than a decade under Kroenke. This is their first strong season in ages. Then you have the parasites and the Boehly circus that's currently taking place in London. Americans can't run football clubs. I don't care if this is generalization or whatever. They've not proven otherwise.

feck getting more American owners. The Glazers have shown the absolute disdain they have for English football and that they see it as a cash cow to be milked. They have taken our heritage and plundered it like a bunch of pigs in a trough.

I would hope that if it starts to look like we are going to be sold to Americans that the protests ramp up beyond anything seen for the super league as their ownership model fundamentally goes against any of the traditions of our game. They literally just see it as a product to make money. Get every single match called off. feck them.
