No chance for a McFlurry of share sales before the announcement?

At the risk of ending up with sausage and egg on my face, I think we're going to hear something today.

It may be something that is strategically leaked to the press, or maybe even something more official, but I genuinely think we are going to get a McNugget of information today.

I suspect we’ll hear absolutely muffin’.

Really seems that the longer this goes on without any kind of real news, the more likely the Glazers are staying. I can't imagine buyers just waiting forever and sellers just leaving them completely in the dark. Eventually someone will pull out and I do wonder if that's what the Glazers are hoping for. They get to stay by default and it's 'out of their hands' because the buyers pulled out. Oh well, guess we'll continue to milk the club then lolz!

It will be a case of self harm. The longer this process takes the more likely we will have a limited transfer budget. That will affect next season's performance which will affect the valuation of united next year.

That's why I don't see the glazers staying. At this point they don't give a feck about next season anymore

I thought he was joking?

No, not joking. It would appear that both bidders are confident of winning. Presumably, they have both been given reason to be confident (ie Glazers have them working on final details of the deal (rather than negotiating), which means they can pull the trigger on one of the two offers at a time of their choosing and have the whole thing wrapped up very quickly from that point).

I believe the only reason Jimmy thought he was ahead was so the Glazers could squeeze Qatar

but i doubt Sir Jim even fully believed it, to be honest. More likely the Glazers leaked it to the press who repeated it in bad faith, as they usually do with stuff like that

he's obviously a smart bloke and seen all this before a million times, he'd have zero reason to trust those cnuts

Mcdonalds will be open but banks tend to close on Bank Holidays

Do Americans have bank holidays? Wasn't aware their public things were the same.

Anyhow according to a list I've found Raine Group isn't one of those who close on this day... Big day?

Just in case it happens today, here wishing you a happy Independence Day from the Glazers, once and for feck all.

- a Yank who truly loves your club, and is sorry for the years of pain and misery these cnuts levied on us all

Don't know too much about American holidays but I'd bet my left testicle that Raine aren't closed for business today, or any day for that matter. The pursuit of profit never rests.

Yeah it's different closing to us and preventing our £15 deposit for an haircut to a potential 6bn transfer hah.

Where's this quote, by Joel or Rio saying about "tomorrow" (today, 4th July) ?

I watched the podcast and they didn't mention any date. It wasn't much of an update, to be honest.

It’s still the same reporter? There’s no difference in going on a podcast or tweeting out which is never questioned. He’s basing dead in the water in the class A story which he did include in the article.

I mean there is though. If it was such a big exclusive that's been backed up then he wouldn't be dropping it on a fan channel. He'd be revealing that via the company he works for.

I'm not questioning anything that guy, Bloomberg or Reuters have been reporting. I just don't think any of it is a huge story.

I’m not sure who reported the class A shares story but it was everywhere at the time and was laughed at by mostly everyone as well.

Fair enough mate.

Because there aren’t any. Both the Reuters and Bloomberg articles literally stated within them that the Glazers could still stay or Ratcliffe could still win. The only earth shattering content was that Ratcliffe had pulled out - but that was said on a fan channel and not in the Bloomberg article which tells you everything you need to know about how well sourced that information was.

My feelings exactly mate. I just don't see how those two articles generated so much hype/excitement. Most of what was revealed was what I suspect most people assumed anyway.

Misread Harris's most recent tweet as "SJ Board in absolute flames here"

That's disappointing given what the clown was posting about LGBT in football the other day.

Islam is generally slightly (or more than slightly) homophobic (as are other religions, usually to a lesser-extent). Are you that surprised to find that kind of nonsense posted by someone from Qatar, where there’s a stricter form of Islam, and this kind of viewpoint is more the norm? If Jassim takes over, you could put your house on members of the board and probably SJ himself having the same views, they might even post them sometimes (when they let their guard down). When City and PSG players wear rainbow laces or do something for Pride week, it’s not because the owners enjoy a night at Horse Meat Disco…

Daniel Harris is a diehard United fan. I don't think he would put tweets like that out to intentionally mislead the fanbase. He's clearly hearing something.
He's also put out transfer shite before that was obvious bullshit from the moment he put it and obviously never came to anything

He's not reliable for news. He seems a bit weird and likes winding people up

Given the tweet from Harris and the guy commenting on the message boards on the Stretford Paddock, Youtube video, who essentially messaged the same thing two hours earlier than Harris, you get the feeling that Sir Jim hasn’t been told that he is out but equally Sir Jim is not convinced that the Glazers are proceeding in a ‘normal’ way and this is giving Ineos doubts.

However, if the Glazers were going to go with Qatar, you would have thought that these exceptional businessmen would have gone back to Sir Jim in the hope that he would react in a positive way.

The fact that they haven’t gone back to him would, if what we are being told has some truth to it, suggest that the minority shareholding issues can’t be overreached? What exactly would Sir Jim's lawyers be promising the minority shareholders in the absence of double your money?

It would suggest that the Glazers are keeping Sir Jim in the picture, not wishing to lose his leverage, until Jassim has been essentially confirmed.

Isn’t Daniel Harris the guy who got told to feck off and support Chelsea by Sir Alex once? I remember him being a snarky little dickhead for a few other things too.

Either they're haggling, or the Glasers are split Succession style or it's a done deal. Also there is a possibility that they may stay on with minority investment. Ratcliffe? He could still make it work. Or maybe he can't. So yeah this may or may not be happening soon.

Seems pretty clear that J&A want SJR and the siblings want Qatar. That scenario is pretty consistent with everything being said. So one of the Glazer factions will have to back down or it will be a no sale disaster and they all lose along with us.

But if SJR is the only offer because the glazer’s dithering resulted in the other, preferred (for class A holders), offer being withdrawn, then surely they will be attempted to be held liable for not acting in the minority shareholders’ best interests.

I reckon that's a lot harder to prove. Turning down an offer is a lot more clear cut than dithering, which can be explained away quite easily.

Thanks for that clear and concise update. I'm almost sure we'll be either sold or not sold in the near to distant future.

I'm fascinated by the idea they're split like that, it'll make great TV when Netflix finally turn it into a miniseries.

I'm still hopeful for the SJR bid, but I feel like it's dead in the water, I don't see SJ backing down after previously saying "This is our final final last bid 100% or bust", and then immediately improving that bid after a deadline he set himself. I think he's happy to wait.

Either way, I'm sure we'll definitely think about the process of something maybe happening definitely, it's a distinct possibility these things may absolutely potentially occur this week or at some week in the near or not near future.

I never believed any of that personally.

So if Bloomberg confirmed it who originally reported it?

That wasn't on Bloomberg though. A guy said on a YouTube channel, that from what he's heard Jim's bid could be dead.

As I've said a few posts up I'm just not seeing the earth shattering exclusives some of you guys are.

I tend to agree, the guy on the you tube who said Jim bid was dead in the water worked for Bloomberg and said the minority share holders would be a huge issue. The key word here is ‘Untoward
They are negotiating as if it’s the final completion but they think something untoward could be at play, what makes anyone think they’ve actually made their mind up, they have both parties getting ready to basically announce either a final bidding round or a winner, or neither, but I’d still take a punt and say it’s Qatar, the Glazers will want to maybe have future sports opportunities in the Middle East for them to stay in control, the Qatari would be fine with that, for them to sell to a rival bidder and embarrass the Qatari that’s a whole other level of stupid!

That’s exactly my take on it too, perfectly summarised - good post

Your sources sound impeccable mate.

I'm hearing all the buzz is Qatar could be the new owners and it could be announced soon or it's also possible that the Glazers might decide to stay and not sell or that Jim could steal a march on Jassim at the last minute and buy the club.

Boom.

Yeah definitely mate, if you look at what even the reputable outlets are saying. They're not really committing one way or another. As far as the reporting goes Qatar seem to be in the lead but then who knows if that's the Glazers trying to entice another bid out of Jim.

Because all the noise about Jim being ahead in May I believe was being fed from the Glazers to get Qatar to up their bid and it seemed to work.

This is a real mess, the Glazers are showing their incompetence on every level.

People wonder why we have been run so badly...

Its blatantly obvious by now that the glazers won't sell the club at the current offers on the table.

So either Sheikh Jassim/Sir Jim increase their bids to match or at least come closer to the 6bn valuation, otherwise the glazers won't be going anywhere.

Just my opinion.
