Club Sale | It’s done!

How do these two things relate? Not clear what point you’re trying to make.
Both were transparent attempts to win favour with the fans and signal the bidder himself is a "true fan," yet only one (and frankly, the less believable tale of the two based on the evidence) was vigorously defended.

If someone is against the Qatari bid, so be it. I just feel like it is disingenuous to excuse the many red flags on Jimmy Rat. His only redeeming quality is that he is the only one bidding for control that is not the Qatari group. Let's not pretend it's anything beyond that or do mental gymnastics to defend the guy.

He is pointing out hypocrisy. How claims of Ratcliffe being a fan, even though he has a Chelsea season ticket and tried to buy other premier league clubs, is fine but the suggestion Jassim could be a fan is doubted and even mocked. It’s not that hard to see the point he was making or how they relate.

Some will give Ratcliffe a pass for bidding (and failing) to purchase several clubs before United, despite claiming to be a lifelong fan and INEOS using "putting the Manchester back in Manchester United" as a selling point to the fans. Yet the same lot will mock the Qatari bid for the Keegan report claiming Jassim wears his United shirt to 5 a side. Isn't that odd?
Jassim's dad is actually a red supposedly. So it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he is as well.

So that's a new quote praising them again?

Read this in my head with the voice of Mark Williams' "Which was Nice" charachter in the Fast Show

"Nice"

is this a recent quote?

Berba seems to think it is.

No. It’s from before the club went up for sale.

Still, in hindsight it feels like he was just getting in bed with the Glazers ready for a potential sale.

See above.

Yeh but compared to willing into belief the idea that top red Jassy J will immediately buy Liverpool if he doesn't buy United so he has to buy United is undoubtedly worse.

And before anyone tries to dismiss this, almost everything the Qataris claim was invented in their heads and repeated so often they now believe it.

Didn't he come out and claim that he had no interest in football and that he saw buying united as bad business?

I could be wrong but seem to remember reading something along those lines a few months ago.

I am literally just blocking everyone on twitter now, that keeps saying news breaking in 24 hours.

There is more chance of Man City's charges being dismissed, than United announcing selling the club at this point.

November I believe from press article

From memory, I think the Emir was rumoured to be a United fan while HBJ (Jassim's father) didn't really have much interest in football or sports.

Personally, I don't find it hard to believe that Jassim is a fan or wears a United shirt to 5 a side. Obviously, the Keegan article stating this was for the sole purpose of winning favour with the fans, but I don't really think those two claims are particularly far fetched.

People call United the biggest club in the world and then are surprised to find out a Qatari supported United in the early 90s.

I also don’t doubt Jim’s claims. The Chelsea season ticket, I’m assuming executive box, is most likely used as a networking tool too as well as a leisure tool. The actual football might not even be the main purpose. This is of course assuming he has an executive box. A standard season ticket sitting with the fans is a completely experience.

I missed this but is there a chance he said this merely to try counter the view that this is a state-backed deal? An attempt to hint at some form of independence in Sheikh Jassim's bid?

According to the Manchester Evening News, Glazers now value Utd at $8bn

Strange comment, I wonder which source that came from?

The actual price is set by the market, we currently have two committed buyers who after several months have barely touched the 6b mark.

Also the Cowboys have a brand new stadium which has a roof and is used all year round. An owner, Jerry Jones (?) , who knows how to market his team and is omnipresent. Compare and contrast.

So they waited for the results of a one-off exceptional season in terms of revenue to up their valuation.

We'll literally never have as many home games in the domestic cups and it's doubtful we'll get far enough in the CL to make up the revenue, so this is so amateurish from a valuation standpoint, it's a joke.

fecking clowns, honestly.

AT&T Stadium is a very impressive stadium, but I hate them Cowboys. They are the only team I have ever heard 'This year is our year' from more than bloody Liverpool!

Also as a 9ers fan I can't stand them.

Wasn't the £6bn+ valuation from them saying the Washington Commanders (ugh can't get used to that name yet) were sold for that price?

SJR is the edger for buying big football clubs.

Will go off like an oil well if he ever succeeds.

Like an average guy desparate for a super model girlfriend. Which, for me, questions his loyalty to united. At the same time, it is desparately sad that one of the UKs richest guys cannot buy one of the UKs most famous assets. It says more about the decline of the UK than it does of SJR.

Remember all those that tried to argue with me yesterday about the fact that I said the 6 Glazers actually want a min of $6bn just for their 69% share, I keep saying they want to be compensated to relinquish the keys nothing is going to happen until SJ comes in with one more final bid which will be the $6bn they want to sell their shares and handover power. So the final price for 100% will be nearer $8bn or about £6.3bn , let that sink in and we all have a long summer.

At this rate we better start hoping the Glazer grandkids are at least competent as they might end up being our new owners when the Glazer kids meet their maker.

To be on the safe side though, we should probably also start protesting the next gen Glazers and the next few after that. #LUHGGK

My credible sources say there's a strong rumour the minority shareholders have written to the board demanding they sell to Qatar. For what it's worth.

This is a realistic scenario.
I know that some people think that announcement is imminent. I don't believe that for one second.
I'm not sure that the club will even get sold - if it does, then it might be next Summer.
The Glazers will drag this out for as long as possible. Remember, if they hang on for another year, they'll make more money (dividends) during that year AND there are likely to be higher bids.
Waiting for another year is a winning situation for them.

Just put this through the currency converter and it came back as 1 Zimbabwe Dollar
