They turned psg into a club that never wins anything into serial winners that have got way closer to winning the champions league than we have.

Far from perfect but people should look where PSG were before they got took over there seems to be a belief they were one of the the top teams in France prior.

Clown show over neymar and messi not great but they were as much to generate interest and eyes on the club, then the players themselves.

Yeah serialy winning a league where a third of the wage bill is just PSG. Anyone could do that with the amount of money they've spent. If you spend 10 times what your rivals do of course you're going to win, it's hardly an achievement. It actually reflects badly on them that they haven't won it every year since Qatar took over.

Paris is the biggest hotbed of young talent in Europe yet how many of them play or have played for PSG's first team?

How have they done in Europe after 15 years of investing billions?

At any point have they even looked like they have a solid hardworking team that plays with a particular philosophy/style or is it just a Galactico policy where big names are signed regardless of whether or not they fit into the manager/teams philosophy and style of play?

They haven't been ran well in my opinion. The Mbappe fiasco last year highlights that.

It’s a serious leap of faith to presume this is how United would be ran.

If anything this describes the current state of United under the glazers.

Spent millions, highest wage bill, bowing to player power and wage demands and being run like a circus.

With sir Jim all but out of the picture (they have to pretend he’s in with a shot until it’s over otherwise the selling side lose all leverage completely) this is our only shot to have them gone.

Presuming this is a state bid, is it really a stretch?

They've been running PSG the same way for going on 2 decades without changing strategy. Why would they run United differently?

Yep United under the Glazers and PSG under Qatar is a very good comparison. Both poorly run shit shows that squander billions for very little return.

I’d give them the benefit of a chance as I believe they have been trying to fast track PSG into the historical European elite and they are slowly realising you can’t just money barrel everything, prestige, fanbase, respect etc takes generations.

United have already made that jump through the rich history, so I’d expect them to treat it a little different.

Both educated guesses and we will probs get an amalgamation of both. City is the model to beat but is the model really that good or is it just the man at the helm, pep.

...or is it financial doping?

Fast track? It's been 15 years though and they don't seem to be switching up strategies.

Whoever takes over (for the record I don't find Jimbo or Jassim/Qatar particularly appealing) I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they might have some sort of competent plan in place.

They’re obviously cheating, but I’m not convinced without pep at the helm they would have seen the success they had. We could throw twice as much money under our ownership and see nothing in return.

Because for a club of our status 55 mil or 62 mil should not make much of a difference
Oh come on, that's a horrible take. The fact that United didn't respect the money it had through last decade has been a massive issue.

Paying £7 million more when a player is on the last year of the contract and has made it explicitly clear they won’t sign another one, has a lot more consequences then just getting the player.

The balance of power in that situation is clearly United’s nevermind the ridiculous selling situation Chelsea find themselves in due to their spend last season.

@Wumminator is currently 25th on the most prominent spammer list. They're not trending upwards, and they're far from the most repetitive. Around 90 % of the people higher on the list are pro Qatar, interestingly.
That’s not actually that surprising considering the majority of people on this forum are Pro Qatar as per the vote.

Man I am getting old  Like I know that them signing Lucas Moura over us wasn't yesterday (SAF was still the manager then) nor does it feel like it was recent, but to see it out there that it's been 15 years...that that much time has passed, is insane

Sir Jim is not proposing a leveraged buyout so the recent Premier League its will have no impact on his bid. All debt he uses to buy the club, if successful, will be on INEOS.
And should INEOS suffer during the next obvious recession then what, he has already said to circumvent the NYSE issue it wants to move the listings to London Stock exchange, guess who owns most of that ?
I’ll give you a Clue it’s start with Q .

SJR

Willingness to buy
100 %, fan, localish, personal legacy - something to be known/remembered for - Jack Walker style

If you got a season ticket to Stamford Bridge and put in a bid to buy the club you are NOT a United fan.

Anyway, I’ve said my stuff now. Until there’s more news goodbye thread.

PS please don’t tag me.

That's not true though, is it ? I mean PSG have failed to win the champions league but so did the much lauded abu dhabi fc till this season. Infact both of them tended to be close in terms of their CL results till this season (reaching the finals, semis, quarters etc.) Even so, PSG did much better than United in Europe for the last decade or so and we don't really have anywhere near the same results in the CL to show for it nor nearly the same quality of players they do. So imo, PSG have done badly for what their objective was but are not even close to being comparable to the Glazer shit show here and are probably one good cup manager away from winning the CL or playing the kind of football everyone raves about in Pep's case.

I think one of the things people overlook when quoting the money that the club has spent has been the fact that the Glazers have been so indecisive. We've massively overpaid for players as a result. That is a legacy that continues in every aspect of this club and in this, every other decent club out there has been better run than United.

I cannot agree that PSG are worse run than Utd, this is simply not the case at all, with Utd it is a business first and foremost in the eyes of the Glazers,
it is all about self enrichment with transfers being paid for on credit, which long term is just not sustainable, at PSG they have won numerous league titles albeit in a weaker league but nonetheless it is
a team that wins regularly and is competitive in Europe, while PSG are not without faults, they are way ahead of Utd at the moment, one club puts business first, the other puts football first, thats the difference.

arguably PSG puts the 'project' / branding first.

We put the glazers interests first and everything else a distant second.

PSG has been trying though, they bought young French players, tried to promote some locals, but they are not consequent or patient enough, that is the problem

Not really I actually preferred SJR until he said he wanted to keep the Glazers, use more debt to buy the club, his vast wealth is tied up in his 65% ownership of INEOS but he would have to take out loans and bonds to buy the club, plus his ownership of Nice and how unpopular he is there doesn’t fill me or most united fans with overwhelming confidence I’m
Not enamoured by SJ either but at least you know he wants to pay the debt, invest in the stadium and infrastructure using his own/Fathers money, and wants the club to win again.

Manchester United: Making Sense Of Potential Takeover Optionsby Christoph Liu

6/23 Wallstreet Rumors: Manchester United (Man Utd) UPDATE: latest rumors, the Sale announcement was expected this week said our source, the reason for the delay is partly due to a Holdback Clause date to be agreed upon on which 100% of the funds are released to the Raine group brokering the sale for the Glazers. It is also believed Ratcliffe was given a 10 day grace period to raise his offer and that 10 day period expires today. We have several sources that expect the sale will be announced next week after the earnings report public filing. We are hearing the sale will be finalized at $38 a share after debt and fees have been paid. We expect Nine Two Foundation to move very rapidly after taking ownership of Manchester united Plc which is incorporated in the Cayman Islands. Joel Glazer holds 19.11%, Darcie Glazer holds 18.15%, Bryan Glazer holds 17.23%, Avram Glazer holds 14.38%, Kevin Glazer holds 13.77%, Edward Glazer holds 12.99% and Edward Woodward holds 0.05% Class B shares. Also, the Glazer family owns 4.3% of the 31% Class A public float. It's rumored the Glazers are frustrated with the slow process from the Raine Group handling the sale, the Glazers realize that could be generating far more of a return on other investments. Raine is rumored to of valued the club at $8 to $10 billion which caused the Glazers to try and get as much as possible for the club.

I'm starting to think a decision won't even be announced by the time the new season starts

Yeah I accepted they are gonna start another season, however at least if preferred bidder announced (Jassim) then can have some optimism for January window

So what gives you that confidence Ratcliffe is all but out of the picture (really hope you're right)

i think its safe to assume the opposite

Glazers putting a block on transfers now only hinders them.. as the buyers won't want to go into next season short on key positions the manager needs
Glazers won’t stop any spending……they will just add to the final fee.

What isn't true?

They've done better than United, well they're guaranteed entry into the CL every year by virtue of have very little competition in their league.

United on the other hand have struggled to qualify for the CL consistently because we play in the most competitive league in Europe in terms of top 4.

We can argue who has done better but the fact remains both have been poorly run shit shows that have wasted billions for very little return

PSG has been trying though, they bought young French players, tried to promote some locals, but they are not consequent or patient enough, that is the problem

They didn't try hard enough it seems. When you look at a list of players born in and around Paris that don't play for PSG it's very revealing.

Youth has never been a priority for them it seems. This video gives a good summary of the talent on their door step they've either ignored or let leave.

12 years. It doesn't change your point but I can't accept the lack of accuracy. :D

Some serious backtracking going on,suspect he knows deep down no one believes a word of it

Quick, how can I say something to get traffic to my channel without giving any information at all

They’re an extremely hard family, who’ll never give in to any level of pressure so it seems. Interestingly though the only time I remember the Glazers ever showing any sign of contrition was after the SuperLeague debacle, when Joel sent out a statement of apology to the fans.

I found a 2021 article from the States about the Glazers' refusal to speak to the press even when their NFL team had just reached the Super Bowl. They've maintained this stance for decades. As for that apology, I think he wrote that with a gun at his head. UEFA carry a lot more clout than the NFL.

Yeah yet another nothing update and another reason to lock thread until something happens
Why do people keep saying this? You don’t have to click on the thread. Go out and enjoy the sun, sip on a cocktail, listen to a podcast, eat ice cream…

The sale gets done when it gets done. This thread being open or closed makes no difference to that.
