Club Sale | It’s done!

It’s just a matter of time before we start hearing INEOS are back in front and then it’s over to the Qatari’s again. There’s easily weeks and weeks for this continue whilst the club continues to sleepwalk through another transfer window.

Unless one of the bidders get fed up I’m not expecting any progress soon and even then it might be more negotiating as a preferred bidder which Glazers would drag out as much as possible again.

Can't stomach hearing that again, would give anything for them to just chuck the towel in

Not even a drip of speculation, let alone news, about this since Thursday

5 days of nothing

When this has happened before (very often) I’ve thought maybe it’s because something is finally happening

… then we get an update that the process has been delayed for whatever reason

Yeah has been pretty much radio silence since Thursday and it's not a good thing at all

I don't know that much about the guy. But from what I saw during his interview, he seems to be reading the situation with a bit more caution than many, which is how journalists should be doing it. Just because he isn't fully bought in on the recent Qatar herd behavior, doesn't mean he's pro or anti one side or the other.

Yeah, I wasn’t suggesting he’s pro one side or the other. Sorry if it read that way.

Just that he knows feck all and thus offers no more insight than the Qatar herd or the Ratcliffe fan boys.

He’s exploiting the situation and has been from the beginning, without offering anything at all, other than, ‘let’s wait and see’, which anyone could say.

I guess his real bread and butter is and should be transfers etc, so let’s see as the window goes on if he actually offers any substance in that area. He might do, but I know in the past he’s done the same as this with other stories.

True. I'd say this is largely the case with most journos. Their bread and butter is built around having accurate and timely information to feed their readers and followers, but they have all been in the dark from the beginning and are left groveling for scraps among very limited sources, who themselves are probably speculating to the journos because they themselves are also in the dark.

I'd take a shite window, as long as Qatar take us over and ETH stays. Long term united can fix the mess, Glazers and the circus needs to leave town, end! For the sanity of everyone.

I am starting to feel the same way too

Agree completely. Bang on.

That’s exactly what’s happened and it’s actually been really interesting to experience imo. It’s frustrating and has been an emotional rollercoaster I’ve found, but it has also been fascinating as what you’ve written above has slowly become crystal clear.

What we don’t know though, is when a winner is announced, will any of these journos break it before the club announce it…

Cuz if they do, it’s worth remembering who it is as it’d suggest they likely have a real contact with however the winner is.

I’m guessing Keegan is likely, but really who knows.

If you dont consider the multiple failed attempts by Mike Ashley. They have been dragged through the mud much longer than we have. 2 years?
I suppose when you put it like that. I just remember them getting a smooth sale and that was during the season wasn’t it.

The parasites are determined to feck over next season for us too. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be for ETH - his hands are literally tied whilst the money-grabbing urchins try and milk the club for every last penny for one final time before they feck off into the sunset along with the rest of the Glazer spawn siblings.

Well if they dont care about the impact on this summer's transfer market and the build-up for next season, it's a sign that they dont plan on staying in any capacity, even as silent partners/owners. Glazers are many things but self-harmers they arent.

Hopefully, silence is golden.

I think Jacobs initially was more familiar with the Qatari end of things however it seems that he's not really getting any inside information and is now giving his general opinion based on his knowledge of having observed other takeovers and is not claiming to have an inside scoop.

Berbaclass's twitter link with Red Knight guy was quite interesting. Not sure how he gets his information, I missed the beginning of the interview. However he was quite spontaneous and perhaps the most interesting point was that he said it would be done within 10 working days from last Thursday. I would assume he based that on some information that finalising of the draft exclusivity contract had a timeframe for agreement of 10 working days.

SJR
Probably trying to see where he can improve his bid. The fact that he hasn't openly conceded suggests, either that there is a clause in the bidding agreement/NDA that they can't do that until a party is selected or he's genuinely trying to make some headway.

The fact that the Times have not come out with anything other than the general statement may reflect that he is still trying to stay in the game.

Personally, if he was buying out the Glazer's entire holding I would be more than happy for SJR to take over. The FFP rules, unless you decide to ignore them, limit your spending capability anyway and given how Chelsea can compete I'm sure SJR would be in, at the very least, that category. Also over the coming years given the type of business and money generation that his business seems to accumulate it wouldn't be surprising if he spent vast fortunes improving the facilities. He is clearly not adverse to wasting money, his other sporting endeavours seem like a rich man's play thing, which in its own way is quite appealing, at least he is not in it solely for profit.

SJ
Nothing from Keegan, which again points to the deal being very sensitive at this stage. There is no profit for SJ, given that he may be ahead, in leaking information for it to only amp up the enthusiasm from SJR.

My hunch, based on nothing, is that they will make a statement to the stock exchange before the journalists are able to release any information, simply to comply with regulatory requirements which seem to suggest that when the composition of the company is being changed, a notice needs to be placed with the regulator.

So based on the twitter Red Knight, next Thursday, or before?

Can we change the title to

(the club hasn't been sold yet) The Sale of Manchester United (the club hasn't been sold yet)

?

I don’t remember Newcastles takeover taking this long…
Their sale process was ridiculously long winded and even as an outsider looking in pretty cruel with constant false hope. Far from a quick process, in fact it looked like it wasn't going to happen many numerous times.

AGMs are very rarely substantial. The company can just repeat existing boilerplate language to answer any questions.
Yes but this time A holders are hopefully going to be forced to sell potentially so questions cannot be avoided - details im sure will be excluded but they cannot just ignore it.

Get the impression that they're going to wait this out to squeeze more out of Qatar. Everyone knows that the worst scenario for new owners is to come in off the back of a shit window when they could have come in earlier and got a bunch of signings done. These cnuts just don't care one bit.

I read the last two pages and I don’t understand the panic?

No real updates. No-one knows what’s going on. Ben Jacob’s is trying to make a name for himself by getting involved in the takeover from a journalistic angle but also doesn’t know anything and just provides guesswork.

It’s going to happen. I know some people want us to sign new players, I do. But this is the Glazers. It’s more important that they DO sell than anything else right now.

And I reiterate, ETH isn’t walking away.

True though once MBS texted Boris and the Government leaned on the PL. It seemed to get resolved within 48 hours, to the point where the rest of the league were a bit pissed that they weren't consulted on it if I remember correctly.

No doubt on both counts. But I also suspect the other thing at play here as well is this whole process for the Glazers will be the most fun they've had in years. They'll be loving all the attention and the chance to play being real businessmen like their Dad.

They're all already obscenely rich to the point where they probably won't even need the money from this sale to still live extravagantly for the rest of their lives. Rich people get bored easily, dragging this out for a few extra million will make a great story to tell their rich feckwit friends about at the Golf club.

Yeah they’ve always been massive attention seekers

He started this saga pretending to be a mouthpiece for the Qatari bid, just as he pretended to work closely with Matt Law during the Chelsea saga last year. Apparently he has worked in the region, or atleast he made it out like he had to give himself some more authority on the subject.

Just because they haven't always sought out attention at every opportunity doesn't mean they couldn't be enjoying the family name being linked to the biggest sale of a sports team in history.

I’d bet my house it’s not even 0.001% of their motivation and is having 0.000% influence on their decision making.

I agree the important thing is the sale, but it feels like this is one of the most important transfer windows for many seasons, when it feels like our rivals are making steps to improve and next season may already be negatively impacted by our lack of activity moving players in and out then I guess that is why there is panic.... for me I find it frustrating when it seems like the sale is inevitable that it takes so long to progress

Maybe, doesn't preclude the possibility they are still enjoying it though.

There must be some other reason why this hasn’t proceeded - it certainly doesn’t make them (Glazers) look like good businessmen and also doesn’t look good on the Raine Group either? Neither reputations will be enhanced by this process.

In terms of trying to squeeze more cash out - im sure if it was as simple as - ‘it’s this price or nothing’ then the deal would have been completed or collapsed either way - im amazed also that both SJR and SJ have not just said feck this I’m out and just given up…..

Therefore there has to have been really tangible incentives and encouragement to continue the process and to have kept so quiet and tight to the NDA by not releasing anything……

And I do not believe that there is a shortage of transfer funds available because of the deal - clearly anything that the club spends will just be added to the sale anyway as ongoing business.

The big problem fir us is that all clubs think that with the sale in the pipeline we are are being offered serious inflated prices for everyone….

Moreover - we need to SHIFT deadwood salaries off of our books - we have an enormous wage bill that is hindering our ability in the market…..selling Iqbal for £1m does nothing…..

Maguire, Martial, Bailey, DDG, Telles, Henderson, Fred - WILL make a difference.

And the reason Arsenal can spend a lot this summer is that they haven’t given out ridiculous salaries to the likes of the above over the last few years.

We are still suffering from the Woodwood era….

Ben came out against the Reuters report then, on Twitter space, said Reuters knew more than he did and he didn’t actually say the report was incorrect despite it continually being held up as one of these mythical, contradictory reports mentioned in the thread title
People who don’t know anything are cautious simply because they don’t know anything
