Agree completely. Bang on.
That’s exactly what’s happened and it’s actually been really interesting to experience imo. It’s frustrating and has been an emotional rollercoaster I’ve found, but it has also been fascinating as what you’ve written above has slowly become crystal clear.
What we don’t know though, is when a winner is announced, will any of these journos break it before the club announce it…
Cuz if they do, it’s worth remembering who it is as it’d suggest they likely have a real contact with however the winner is.
I’m guessing Keegan is likely, but really who knows.
Hopefully, silence is golden.
I think Jacobs initially was more familiar with the Qatari end of things however it seems that he's not really getting any inside information and is now giving his general opinion based on his knowledge of having observed other takeovers and is not claiming to have an inside scoop.
Berbaclass's twitter link with Red Knight guy was quite interesting. Not sure how he gets his information, I missed the beginning of the interview. However he was quite spontaneous and perhaps the most interesting point was that he said it would be done within 10 working days from last Thursday. I would assume he based that on some information that finalising of the draft exclusivity contract had a timeframe for agreement of 10 working days.
SJR
Probably trying to see where he can improve his bid. The fact that he hasn't openly conceded suggests, either that there is a clause in the bidding agreement/NDA that they can't do that until a party is selected or he's genuinely trying to make some headway.
The fact that the Times have not come out with anything other than the general statement may reflect that he is still trying to stay in the game.
Personally, if he was buying out the Glazer's entire holding I would be more than happy for SJR to take over. The FFP rules, unless you decide to ignore them, limit your spending capability anyway and given how Chelsea can compete I'm sure SJR would be in, at the very least, that category. Also over the coming years given the type of business and money generation that his business seems to accumulate it wouldn't be surprising if he spent vast fortunes improving the facilities. He is clearly not adverse to wasting money, his other sporting endeavours seem like a rich man's play thing, which in its own way is quite appealing, at least he is not in it solely for profit.
SJ
Nothing from Keegan, which again points to the deal being very sensitive at this stage. There is no profit for SJ, given that he may be ahead, in leaking information for it to only amp up the enthusiasm from SJR.
My hunch, based on nothing, is that they will make a statement to the stock exchange before the journalists are able to release any information, simply to comply with regulatory requirements which seem to suggest that when the composition of the company is being changed, a notice needs to be placed with the regulator.
So based on the twitter Red Knight, next Thursday, or before?
