Would Ronaldo’s delicate ego be able to take Saudi sponsorship of the club he’s just been turfed out of by the country he’s just moved to?
He chose to get paid $210 millions per year, In Saudi Arabia, instead of any self-respecting alternative to ending his career. Clearly he doesn't give a shit and his ego has its price :)

His business does a lot of work in the Middle East. He also owns a T20 team in a league starting in the next week or two.

There’s loads of reasons for him to be over there that have absolutely no connection to football.
Nonsense. Stop it at once, we don't want any calm reality facts here get us gossip man.

If we’re dealing in facts his T20 team is in a different country

this is also likely the biggest business deal of his career so if he’s in Doha chances are he’s there for United

probably not even there though

Give it 10 minutes before the picture is revealed to be an old one.

However it is based in the Middle East. Like I said. Pretty funnily his team doesn’t actually have a stadium to use despite the tournament starting in 11 days, but that’s by the bye.

The Raine Group are dealing with the sale. This isn’t going to be like the Apprentice with him haggling.

If he’s there for his cricket team he’d be in the country his cricket team is.

He’ll be quite involved in the deal for sure..

It’s just basic due diligence for potential new owners to speak with him for one thing

Qatar buying the club would be sensational. We would be a force to be reckoned with again

Saudi Arabia should ditch Newcastle and buy United

It would be the end of my support for United if the club were to be the prey of such horrific sportswashing

Do will we be plastic now when we will have oil based owners or will this be different to other oil based owned clubs?
It will be different because we were a real club before. Same if Liverpool get bought by a Middle Eastern group

You out..Mbappe in...

The Glazers are probably worse than any of the Qatari dudes

Me and many thousands of dedicated fans out, overpaid mercenaries with no ties to the club in. Recipe for success.

The Glazers are absolutely not worse than those guys and it's shocking cognitive dissonance to even begin to hope so.

Seems to have worked for Man City

I'm pretty sure I read the Glazers fund some of the Israeli politicians who have an arpartheid state going on there. I think they funded Trump as well

Plus I would say if you looked over all our sponsor ship deals over the past some will be traced backed to dodgy individuals and states

For me its swapping out one poor parasitic scumbag for a rich scumbag

Why would they pay a presumably premium price to have this thing negotiated and concluded by someone and then do the donkey work themselves?

Why can’t the Glazers talk to the suitors themselves to get the ball rolling or see it through?
They don’t have to ignore each other!

It would be up to individual United fans to determine their own level of comfort with it, but certainly in the eyes of opposition fans and the media, United would become exactly the same as City/Newcastle/PSG - a largescale sportswashing enterprise, whose trophies are worth less than those won by "proper clubs" like Liverpool/Arsenal/Bayern/Real etc.

Anyone saying they'd stop supporting Utd if bought by the Qatar aren't real fans. Even if a few thousand season ticket holders left, they will soon be replaced by fans watching Utd become a world force again.

Is that the same Real who had state help?

Talking to people isn’t the donkey work, and it’s just common courtesy in business

The donkey work is the mountains of corporate due diligence and legal work required to make deal like this happen

If Qatar have £7billion and want to speak to Joel directly...I'm sure he will make the effort to turn up

Do the media genuinely consider the titles won by City and Chelsea in the past as plastic? I rarely if ever get that vibe. Most of them the time the media seem in awe of City

Yeah mate I'm sure we would all be absolutely delighted to become just like Man City. A shining beacon in the world of sport.

The Glazers have donated money to some Israeli pricks. I agree that Israel is a horrible apartheid state, but this is a completely different ball game. The Qatari royal family have ordered murders, organized child sexual abuse, human trafficking, electric shock their staff for enjoyment, keep slaves in horrific conditions, regularly screw people over for money....the list is endless.

I get where you're coming from, neither owner is good, but these lads are just about the worst and it's frankly ridiculous and hopeful to argue otherwise.

Christ. Stupid take. One of the worst, most dense and poorly thought out takes in this forums history and that's saying something. Your post is impressively stupid and I am impressed.

"Anyone who stops supporting because the club is taken over by evil murdering bastards isn't a real fan". The opposite is true

There's an extremely obvious difference between people who support those who commit acts and people who commit them. This is established in law all across the world and thousands of other situations in every setting. If people are trying to argue with you otherwise they're doing so in bad faith.

Everyone knows the Glazers are bad, the Qatari state is much worse.

A lot of this I'm not aware of. If you have any links to decent articles to read about this it would be appreciated.

I just don't want Glazers 2.0 so I'm soooo against any American I will support whoever else wants to take us over.

Precisely correct, and additionally I'd be willing to bet my life that the Qatari royal family have given a lot more money to dodgy causes than the Glazers have to Israel.

Well that's a unfair comparison as they have more money

It doesn't matter what you say, whataboutism started across the fanbase the minute Middle East rumors started circling around, and most fans will shamelessly turn a blind eye to being state-owned by mass murderers and human rights oppressors. Sad, but most people are fecking pathetic.

I always get the impression that City are feared rather than really respected/admired by the media and wider football world. The coverage of Liverpool's title win stood in stark contrast to the City wins, where the press coverage always seems less effusive. City's "achivements" just ring a little hollow. I even know a few City fans who feel this way.

To be fair you shouldn’t support or stop supporting a club because of the owners. Supporting United now doesn’t mean you have Glazer posters on the wall. To me supporting United would be boring with. Billions behind us. Overnight we’d be the perfect endgame that the likes of City want to achieve within the next 100 years. The evilness speaks for itself but the sporting side would be fecked.
