Shut up and let the fanboys wank over their Mbappe fantasies, killjoy.

Heh. I guess I can't stop them. I only wish they'd consider the long term damage over potential short term gains.

It’s just daft to take some moral stance when the money they have is literally everywhere, in everything you do in day to day life. Supporting the club doesn’t mean you support their views on any given topic. Relax.

It's not daft at all. It's called taking a stand. If nobody ever does, then already murderous regimes will only be encouraged to do worse.

So Qatar was on the table and the Glazers have gone to Mr PSG and said “any chance of a bit more from Jassim?” And then it’s been upped to the 5th bid and hence it being take it or leave it? Or they want more than the 5th bid?

How easily the masses are distracted.

I guess you don't care for politics? Or injustice? Are there any limits to the amount of abuse the owners can get away with before you'd pay attention?

Sorry, but this is an irresponsible position to take.
I got told off for saying I didn't think the politics was relevant, you're supposed to say it's about morals, not politics.
Glad it’s state backed. Was getting concerned.
Me too.

They are not quite celebrating for the Qataris but rather for the Glazers's departure. You blame people for being that happy, but it's the Glazers's fault for fueling so much hatred that driving them out is now all that matters.

No, they are literally twerking for blood money because their fragility doesn't allow for any other team winning anything because they validate themselves through their support of a football team.

Plenty of other clubs to support if you are so fully against it.

Already have a preliminary list made up.

Really worrying that our potential new owner seems to be a puppet of the PSG owner. So PSG owner will make all important decisions on the running of both PSG and United. That will obviously end well.
There’s absolutely 0% chance PSG would get priority over us. We’d be Qatar’s crown jewel.

It isn't but like you I have suspected the delays are to get the state of Qatar to pay up. That's something we DO agree on
I’m having a little joke now but I’m not going to gloat if it does go the way of Qatar. We’re all united fans at the end of the day. I’ve no interest in that.

It’s just about the football mate and what’s best for United and Jim certainly isn’t that

Qatar isn’t best for the club as certain posters seem to be giddily celebrating. Ratcliffe, at worst, could be a Glazer like leech. We would still have our club and we can be united as a fanbase against him like we are against the Glazers. With Qatar, everything that their country would do would get associated with our club. With the PSG president getting involved, the whole sovereign wealth argument has also been settled.

Honestly, what reputation do we have? A Glazer, banter shit show?
It’s not done yet but there’s a reason rival fans were laughing their asses off at Jim and Glazers teaming up last week and there’s a reason why other teams are protesting Qatar and not Jim

Really? That's such a short term view. We are the biggest club in the land. Massively respected all over the world. Sure, the Glazers have tried their best to ruin that reputation. Welcoming in the Qataris will tarnish us forever though. There will be no removing that stain.

What will it mean please?

Utd being the poster child to cover up homophobia, modern day slavery and a lot more on top.

Qatar need to join the rest of the world and abandon these cruel and pathetic laws. If they did that I'd have no issue with them owning the club. This isn't a race thing or a colour thing. It's a decency thing.

Treat people fairly. Women, migrants and gay people. Everyone deserves equality.

I take this as good news.

I think the journo's have caught word that Glazers are going to go with Qatar and this Kehalifi thing is a last ditch attempt to discredit/prevent that from happening.

I still don't think many of you fully understand just what it will mean. Too busy dreaming of new players.

To be fair I think most are dreaming of a club with no Glazers, no debt, and no promise of more debt to pay for stuff (even if it's leveraged elsewhere)

Twitter is probably a different story as always.

The clowns at PSG are getting involved? I mean being a sportswashed club would be terrible enough on its own but those lads haven’t a clue what they are doing.

It’s like being owned by the glazers, spending more for even less success, having an even more toxic player run dressingroom and still watching a better run man city win everything while United are dragged into the mud as a sportswash enterprise.

That’s because you’re a United fan viewing it through that lens. We’ve been a shit show for ten years now and that’s how we’re seen. I don’t see many rival fans posting about the respect they have for us. If anything we are the most hated club in the land and a laughing stock to boot.
If Qatar takes us over the same people who hates us will still hate us and the same fans who love us will still love us

Of course. We all are. Just not at any cost.

It would be nice if Qatar do win this bid that our fans try to use our platform to force change in that country. Won't happen though.

Not wanting to be a tin foil hat merchant but yeah it does feel that way a little bit.

There is no other good alternative. This is football now sadly. The spoils go to the biggest bidder. Just have to enjoy the sport for what it is now.

This is a fair point. None of the 3 ownership options are good, at all.

But FFS, if the Qataris buy the club against our will then so be it. We can do our best to hold them to account. To make sure they don't use the illegal practices of city. And protest hard at anything their government does wrong.

Cheering for their arrival though? Who thinks that's the right play here?

Clubs don’t take on their owners beliefs for feck sake.

I think todays news is the biggest yet. They’ve contacted the PSG president and are asking Qatar to increase their offer.

It’s what I’ve been saying for days. Jim’s bid as been in the table for months and it hasn’t advanced. They’ve wanted Qatar this entire time.

There’s going to be one winner and that’s Qatar.

Sorry Jim go and concentrate on getting Nice a top 10 finish. Who’s he buying this summer? Welbeck, Walcott? Joker

You're celebrating becoming a marketing and sportswashing tool for Qatar. It says a lot about you mate.

Eventually when you grow up a bit you will see the other side to the argument.

Yeah... or it could be that state-backed actors motivated by building soft power and long-term alliances (strategic relationships through investment; investing in high-end property or leisure development which potentially creates jobs in the area) are better custodians of community entities like football clubs than short-term extractive capitalists, if less preferable compared to, say fan ownership or membership and elected presidential models. SJ is promising to invest in the community, ala City Group, which we've seen no sign of from the Glazers.

Clubs are more than just ways of flattering fans' consciences or consumer brands - I have questions about SJ leadership plans and so forth, but the basic approach to ownership of the club emerging within the press leaks seems light years away from the Glazers in terms of ensuring the club's competitiveness and meeting the obligations any major sporting institution should have to the surrounding area - heritage and future.

Hated yes. But now they'll have good reason to other than the fact we kept beating them for so long.

The one good thing that could come from Qatari ownership, given what you said above, is that the level of hatred may reach such ridiculous levels that football finally decides to bin state ownership.

There is so little correlation between the mood of this thread and the reporting.

None at all. But it's par for the course, by Qatar news is positive and gospel so let them enjoy it.

I told you I wouldn't be tweeting aggressively at Qatar if they won. It is what it is.

I still don't think many of you fully understand just what it will mean. Too busy dreaming of new players.
The way you’re portraying football to be died a long time ago and your protestations are years out of date. There’s no affinity or connection anymore, Qatar buying us isn’t going to break anything that isn’t already broken.

Clubs don’t take on their owners beliefs for feck sake.

And when did I say they do?

Being okay with it all just because it's on a 7hr flight away is fine then? They are still people ffs.

That comment alone speaks volumes about this whole process. Nobody gives two craps about them because they are out of sight and out of mind.

Do you not think everyone deserves equality?

Doesn’t work that way at all. Highlights and brings issues into the media, the complete opposite of a cover up. Much like hosting the World Cup, the dirty laundry was aired.

It goes both ways, though. There's been times they've all suddenly been wallowing in self pity and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what had changed. Bi-polar hivemind.

Just like Man City. Oh wait no they are just about to win the treble and the media fawns over them.

Some people have been so mentally dominated by City that they can't envision any future beyond us being owned by an oil state. It's tragic. We can be so much better than them, both on and off the field. We don't have to turn into City to beat City.

The thing is... doesn't both owners have their own issues with their beliefs?

Qatar you can argue their human rights are sketchy to down right despicable.
SJR was a leading pioneer of Brexit which has caused so much of an issue to this country and plunged everyone into a serious cost of living crisis and made the poor so much poorer

So lets be honest, neither of the two are angels when it comes to it are they? At the end of the day, as long as the club is run right, then surely thats what we must focus on?

There's a lot of literature on sportswashing you can read so you avoid posting nonsense like this.

I suggest starting here.
