Club Sale | It’s done!

Sir Jim is a penny pinching poorper, any club under him will suffer especially as he refuses to shower and smells musky.

I can’t take a man seriously who is as poor as him and attempting a buyout of the biggest club in the world, beggars belief he was allowed into the process whilst being so scruffy and smelling like a tramp.

It could tank but it isn't very likely to, United's value is not totally based on whether the team does well or not, we've been shite for a decade and the revenue is still in excess of our competitors and that's not likely to change any time soon

The current bids place roughly a 100% premium on the shares, so to just make the same amount you'd need the value of the club to double, but this doesn't take into account the opportunity cost of being able to invest the cash and make decent annual returns

yes, it might not tank in 2/3 years but if we dont win big titles, the kids who are 11/12 who support City now, when they get older, the tide will turn and the revenues will change.

The reason United have the revenue is because of its success in the past, lets not kid ourselves that trophies dont matter.

If the Glazers were so much after immediate cash they would have sold us ages ago. It seems they are fine with a few millions/dividends every year or in this case with a partial sale / in other words a lot of cash while still keeping some shares.

And I am sure they will negotiate hundreds of clauses with Ratcliffe/scenarios in which they could get even more money in a few years, such as if the super league comes, if a new TV deal comes, if United win PL/CL, etc. Maybe that’s why the negotiations are taking that long.

Which would also mean that Qatar either need to be flexible enough to deal with all this / negotiate such clauses with Glazers / keep them as minority shareholders OR they just pay enough so Glazers agree to sell all their 69%.
However if Qatar are not willing to take either of these options then they only have themselves to blame.
*Of course this is all speculation based on the (little) info we have so far.

I could pretty much guarantee anything them leeches sign, will have them staying for "a minimum of X years as shareholders", They are too greedy to allow themselves to be pushed out after this process. This is why they they are going for SJR's deal. Its also prob why INEOS have included them staying on in the deal, as theyve prob figured out Glazers prob have no intention of fully selling otherwise
Still not sure why they want to stay. Doubt a new owner is going to be paying dividends for a few years, unless the Glazer’s negotiate that into the sales contract. If they are banking on the club value increasing over the next few years they could be in for a shock. They’ve placed the club for sale now and attracted only 2 bidders, only one of which wants to buy 100%. If they think they could get more in a few years they are in cloud cuckoo land.

We may get an interesting development on Friday where SJ and 92 Foundation publicly pull out or The Glazers through Raine state that either SJ or SJR is the preferred bidder and they are looking to conclude the merger takeover within 6 weeks. To be clear here SJR proposal will take at least 12 weeks to complete taking us to the middle of September at best. We may even find that SJ ups his offer from £5.2bn to £5.4bn for a quick completion as a sweetener, this may be why he said The Glazers and Raine have until Friday to discuss offers with him!

I do think that the fact that no preferred bidder has been declared yet means that this is much more of an open race than many outlets are reporting.
Several good points made here that some are overlooking based on the reports, or their own hatred of Qatar.

Keegan's exclusive article absolutely suggests the Qataris are flexible to negotiating and potentially offering more, but they've had enough of the dallying by the Raine and the Glazers, and without an ultimatum like this, there is no ballpark established for what a "winning" bid will be valued at, nor is there any end in sight to this process.

They know their structure is significantly less complex and, in theory, if they hit the right number (which I do not believe is truly £6B), all 6 siblings can agree to sell now. The lack of cohesion between the 6 siblings is quite apparent at this point and the Financial Times piece simply shone a light on this.

I agree mate. I think some on here are getting a bit too ahead of themselves. Maybe Jim will buy the club, but I wouldn't be too quick to take all the noise from the British media at face value. Actions speak louder than words and the fact it's all words tells me there's no action, or very little at least.

Either way looking forward to some resolution. It's defintely been the saga to end all sagas

Maybe for the same reason they keep making offers which include clearing the debt, investing in infrastructure, etc.
It’s actually like they are so far away from anything related to United and they thought Glazers would get overjoyed by the plans Qatar have for Glazers’ beloved United.

Nor has anyone else from Qatar/the royal family advised them.

I actually still refuse to believe they are so incompetent. So either they really are, or they will get United and they already know it.
Or they were not serious from the beginning and just wanted to signal to the Premier League they are ready to buy a PL club but for much less money than United would cost.

Yeah this is where I am at with the Qatar bids. It makes no sense and the constant investment promise means feck all to the Glazer's - they would sell us to anyone who offers them more

I do think the last point you made is correct, if and when they don't win the bid, most clubs/owners will start twerking for them as they've shown they already have a fair few billion

Mike Keegan article on MG had this snippet
a conclusion – with Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and British petrochemicals billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe both in the hunt – is likely over the coming days.

Its all very strange

Even Sir saggy bollocks bid has been on the table for months and it’s still not accepted, I know these things take time it’s a multi billion pound deal but it’s not even advancing, there’s no talk or anything of a chosen bidder

I read it’s because of the A class shares that Glazers have as well that’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars that Jim has said he won’t buy but Qatar will.
All guesswork

So how come he isn't bricking it like the Qataris?

So how come he isn't bricking it like the Qataris?

How do you know he isn’t? He’s reportedly put multiple offers to the Glazers and feels confident that’s fair enough but he must feel a bit nervous when Qatar aren’t going away

I feel that if the offer from Jim to the Glazers was that good it would be progressing yet here we are still no nearer a sale. Media have known very little throughout and are probably going with Jim’s bid because they think the Hills Have Eyes brothers want to stay on

Doubt that will happen, TV rights aside, the money to be made is outside of England, United have massive support abroad, far in excess of any other English club, United's games still pull in more TV viewers and that's not going to change anytime soon

Yeah, the one thing we know for sure is Ratcliffe hasn't upped/changed his bid since 'round 3' only Qatar.

Let's be real here, the Glazers have set a price and Qatar have failed to bring funds to the table... The only ones pissing about are them, coming back with derisory increases in their bid whilst each time still been below the other bid on the table.

They could have simply just rocked up and matched SJRs offer on their own terms and be done with it.
We're into, how many rounds of bidding now? And the Qataris are the ones pissing about? Mate give over. Glazers are leeching cnuts and will keep offering new rounds of bidding if they think they can get an extra fiver out of it.

They're taking the piss out of this club. No concern for any future planning, how this upheaval will affect the manager and his attempts moving forward. All about squeezing every last drop of capital from this club that their grubby hands can muster.

They're scum, a fecking disgrace, and so are the Premier League/FA for allowing their takeover in the first place.

The next announcement is an update by Mike Keegan that the Qataris have pulled out.

A week later, Jim will hold all the cards and force the Glazers to wrap it up a week later.

Mark my words.

I'm sure we would have at least heard something by now, instead all we have is that they are working with the banks. Might simply mean they are preparing for a deal, but at least they seem to have been given assurances. Unlike the Qataris, who had to bypass Raine..

Well no it won't be because that isn't what he said would happen.

Makes sense. I imagine Ratcliffe wants to steal City's thunder with the announcement. Of course people will take it differently, depending on which bid they preferred. Be interesting to see which will create the more buzz - INEOS or City treble.

Will be the takeover by a country mile.

Its your opinion that the delay is due to the structure of the bid and not anything else (which I gave an opposing opinion to). Its not a fact its not been reported anywhere, its your opinion.

We do know other things have been reported elsewhere (including the delay before SJR decided to change the bid structure)
It's my opinion that the delay came from multiple bids, one of which being minority opinion.

It's not a debate that they were just in final stages with SJR which makes your argument about minority investment being remotely likely pretty weak.
