I remember when we were partly run by that beautiful bald man with the overbite, good ole' Avram. We didn't appreciate his magnificent splendour until it was too late. Bless.
Avram was the one who looked like a Leprechaun right?I remember when we were partly run by that beautiful bald man with the overbite, good ole' Avram. We didn't appreciate his magnificent splendour until it was too late. Bless.
can't say I disagree really
a big part of United being United for me is the history of success we built ourselves
if we start winning after spending ridiculous amounts of oil money it just won't feel the same
I don't know exactly how I'll feel when it happens but I expect I'll just slowly lose interest over time
Cheers. Hopefully it’s just a case of the glazers wanting to appear as if there is a ton of offers for the club, in a effort to drive up the price. The only major piece written on the sale thus far was by The Athletic and in it they are quite dismissive of the prospect of a nation state being involved in the purchase of the club. Abu Dhabi and the Saudis already own other major clubs, the Qataris do too and they think that Premier League clubs are overpriced & their value has already been extracted, Dubai are focussed on tourism, Bahrain/Oman/Kuwait aren't interested.

Very normal post. For you it will be bleak times I agree. Looking at a PL ownership list your choice of British owners who aren't into questionable shit like gambling are bleak. Tottenham is probably your best option barring the great white British hope swooping in on his warhorse to save merry old England.
Honestly the altruistic fans who say they are jumping ship would probably be better off choosing a League One or Two team. At that level they can enjoy the game without all the pressures of evil owners making money and buying wins. Might even be multiple teams with British owners to choose from.
It’s the national game! As in, owned by nations….I would absolutely hate it if we were bought by a state/oil money. This isnt how football should be
Look, if oil money makes our facilities the best in the world, so we are literally nurturing Manchester talent better than ever. Still having the ethos we always have with a world class youth setup, with the best scouting network to bring in world class talent. It’s not much different to what we have. In fact the last 10/15 years with having this galactico like transfer strategy has been very much unlike united. One thing that’ll be hilarious if Qatar buy Utd, is all the regime apologists of other clubs who’ve surfaced over the WC will not be able to say feck all about it!
The downside being that Utd will no longer be Utd, at all.
To think you're full of crap? Yes it is. I doubt you have fully thought this through. I can't imagine needing to pick a new team. I find it quite funny in fact, like when one of my kids claimed she would never go to school again because she got teased at recess.Very normal post.
Exactly this.Look, if oil money makes our facilities the best in the world, so we are literally nurturing Manchester talent better than ever. City have a great local talent in Foden. Probably a few more to come in too. Plus a great women’s team. Built with Oil money but using local talent.
Well, being bought by an organisation that their primary target isn't earning money, but allowing the club to flourish to its full potential.

Exactly this.
We don't need a galacticos project, we tried it under the Manbaby twit for a decade an it got us nowhere.
The money that we need is for investing in infrastructure and continuing to nurture talents like we've always done. And also means we can actually get signings done efficiently when we need to, instead of dithering over several windows only to end up overpaying anyway out of desperation.
I would say their primary target is to use the club as a PR vehicle to further their other business interests
We were only "trail blazers" because of the manager and the young squad he'd brought through, meaning he just needed additions every year. I cant imagine with the way were were structured we'd have had the success we had with Martin Edwards way of running the club. His wage structure and lack of wanting to get into a bidding war was criminal for the amount of money the club was generating. Billionaire owners would bring in unprecedented finances for a Manchester United regime.Yeah. We just need someone who will makee us trail blazers again, as we had always been before the Glazers took over.
United winning the world cup in the US while the Glazer's have to watch in the VIP boxIt’s the national game! As in, owned by nations….
Cool story bro.To think you're full of crap? Yes it is. I doubt you have fully thought this through. I can't imagine needing to pick a new team. I find it quite funny in fact, like when one of my kids claimed she would never go to school again because she got teased at recess.
At least he's consistent in the quality of his postsCool story bro.

Maybe so. However, allowing us to be Manchester United again is what I want.
so you don't think about how their defensive recruits since Peps arrival cost nearly as much as our starting XI????It's weird. When I watch City play disgustingly beautiful football I hardly ever think about oil money. I hate City as much as I hate Pool, but I must remember that one is owned by benevolent folks and the other by an evil state.
Nope. I told you it's weird. I must learn to think about these things. Context.so you don't think about how their defensive recruits since Peps arrival cost nearly as much as our starting XI????

I admire your optimism, I take a much more pessimistic view though
I think we're heading to a two-tier system in football (state owned vs private owned).. with a massive divide between the two, and in general people slowly losing interest in the sport as a result
I fear the United we all loved is long gone, and isn't coming back
I would absolutely hate it if we were bought by a state/oil money. This isnt how football should be
Not necessarilyI would say their primary target is to use the club as a PR vehicle to further their other business interests
Not necessarily the oil states have quite a sizeable investment across the globe, the Saudis have huge development plans within their own country. Judging by City they’re doing a rather good job and if we’re not bought it will be Liverpool. So many companies already have oil or state investment around the world. We would be another high profile investment and I’m sure the majority of Utd will accept these owners if there is success on and off the pitch.I would say their primary target is to use the club as a PR vehicle to further their other business interests

But what is that United you refer to
the one I've been supporting and loved for three decades
everyones idea of what United are is obviously slightly different based on your own experiences
but my point is it won't ever be the same if we're owned by a state
and it isn't just state ownership that is changing the game, obviously.. it's changing so quickly due to the amount of money involved compared to before
Couldn't you brits just have gotten a dictator. It would be much easier to just save a national cultural institution that way and put it in non-owner hands.
The money we generate ourselves as a club is enough to compete with the biggest out there. It's ridiculous and unnecessary that we're in talks with oil-state backed funds in the first place.
Really hope there'll be some sort of political intervention / outcry against this.

Feasible scenario. 50% now, then they might wait to see how the economy pans out. Imagine if there is a recession and asset prices drop further, the billion or so they save when buying the next 50% can go to building the stadium.Or there's an offer to buy a stake in the club on the table.
They wear invisible robe.Just like PSG and Man City do after each title win?
We should relocate the franchise to Manchester New Hampshire, join the MLS and be kings of America. Hell, maybe we can even lure Ronaldo back in the MLS.United winning the world cup in the US while the Glazer's have to watch in the VIP box
