Club Sale | It’s done!

I really do think the end game of an SJR ownership leaves the Clclub debt free and the Glazers gone. He is my preferred bidder as I just can't get myself to accept de facto State Ownership.

Maybe that makes me an idiot or naive but if I am wrong then I will stand on it and own it.

Maybe state ownership is what is best for the club in order for it to compete for trophies, even if it isn't something I am comfortable with, maybe that realisation should lead me somewhere else entirely. I fecking hate the Glazers for even making me ha e to question my long term relationship with this club in such a way. I hate all of this and want it to be over.

He's not going to want the club to fail is he?

That's not to say it won't fail but he's a) a Utd fan and b) the richest Briton on the planet. He's clearly not going to want to see his own club and huge investment goes tits up.

Nothing is a guarantee in football. Qatar could still win this and throw Hundreds of millions at players that ETH might not want (The Neymar type signings). Afterall Todd Boehly has gone from hero to zero within a year.

We just don't know who will be the best owner of the two bidders.

Would you really want us to spend so much money that we "dominate City", and by extension, probably everybody else? Just picture what that would actually look like and how much we'd be having to spend. That would be absolutely shite.

I'm not suggesting that we spend hundreds of millions and 500k/week on each player over a 25 man squad.

Perhaps "dominate" is an unartful word, but I want to see United go onto the pitch on the planet and be favored to defeat our opponent, including City. That doesn't mean we actually will defeat every opponent of course. When was the last time United were actually favored to defeat City over the last decade? Of course we have picked up some wins over City over the last decade, but in each of those game -- at least since Ferguson retired -- City were favored to beat us and most of the time they did just that.

It would indeed be shite to see us defeat every opponent 10-0 and pick up trebles every year. I certainly did not intend to convey that meaning. My apologies.

Classic avoidance technique, well done.
There seems little point engaging with you at this point. You’ve obviously made up your own mind and far be it from me to be the one to change it.
I don’t believe there will be a huge amount of debt (if any at all) associated with the INEOS bid, I have seen nothing to suggest that there will.

We could and should be competing with City. We have spend just as much money over the last 10 years.

The Glazers sucking money out of the club has been awful, but not putting in a proper structure for success has been the main reason for our failure. If we had the structure in place during and after Fergie's reign, maybe we would have recruited Pep not Jose.

We don't need a mega donor. Just need someone who can let the club stand on its own two feet, as we did for years before the Glazers.

This is the key point. The Glazers are human scum, but they can't be accused of not putting enough cash on the table to compete for PL trophies. But they've spent poorly, first hiring Moyes, a crime for which they can be forgiven as Moyes was the call Ferguson made and who would have dared cross Ferguson? No one. Yet I can tell you my participation in other forums at the time, including RedIssue, that the howling against the hiring of Moyes could be heard all around the world. Still, no complaints with the Glazers yielding to Ferguson's judgment.

Louis Van Gaal was a horrible appointment. Jose Mourinho was a horrible appoinment. Ole was inspired on some level, but it was a huge throw of the dice and in the end was destined to fail. But in all of this the real villain wasn't the Glazer family as much as it was Woodward, who had no vision whatsoever. But at the end of the day, it was the Glazer family who stuck it out with Woody season after season, despite failure after failure. As such, they must be gotten rid of...unless the Ineos bid truly and indisputably makes them non-entities within the power structure of the new ownership team. And I'm not sure that that's really in the cards as I understand it right now.

I guess it would be the first time a Tory has gone against his word then :wenger:

I'm no lover of Tories.....far from it. They are horrible gits.

I'd wager most Qataris high up in their society make Tories look like Mickey Mouse though.

They did afterall bribe their way to host a world cup and allow thousands of migrants to die building it for them.

Yet people are so willingly ready to trust them. Hahahaha

So are we thinking INEOS are announced tomorrow then now it’s pretty clear who won out?

I do prefer Qatar owners.

One thing though, the PR for Jim Radcliffe has been terrible. He could’ve said the right thinks, made some good leaks to get fans on side. But it’s been horrendous by him.

It's a different kind of reactionary politics though, if you want to put it that way. Qatari elites still (generally, from what I can tell) believe in the concept of public goods, even if that public might or might not be pretty narrow (and doesn't include foreign labourers, admittedly), and believe in prestige beyond immediate self-enrichment, however affluent they are personally. Saudi Arabia too, for instance, might be known as 'right wing' in many respects, but has a stronger safety net for actual citizens and idea of 'common goods' which Saudis have access to (including UBI) compared to Tories here. This is one of the key philosophical reasons why, whilst it's inferior to fan ownership or even to fans electing a president to finance the club, Qatari ownership is likely to take custodian function of club ownership far more seriously than SJR.

Not to get too UK Politics 101 but he's incredibly ideologically invested in the Tory project which in its contemporary form is more like 19th Century laissez-faire liberalism (repackaged as neoliberalism) or US Republican party mainstream, which doesn't believe in the public good or institutions that aren't 'for profit' except police, army and pageantry, and that, combined with the more concrete stuff about keeping Glazers on, potentially loading debt onto the club still further, provides natural grounds for suspicion.

Paul White said (after speaking with a friend that works in the financial sector who has dealt with Raine before) that news from Friday to Sunday should be dismissed as media speculation as the way the process is handled very few people would have looked at both proposals until Monday. Only a handful of lawyers will have seen the 'bids' before Monday he is suggesting.

Make of that what you will. I think it seems fairly logical/plausible

Proper Brexit post.

There's a very good chance either party will pay for the new or refurbished stadium with debt. It just won't be held by the club itself. Anyone thinking otherwise is living in a fantasy land.

Who’s Paul White?

Judging from your earlier posts I don’t challenge your knowledge but in this post you make too much assumptions based on unknown and unverified facts. Most of the subjects you’re touching is mostly speculation and wild guesses.

From my understanding SJR is a self made man with probably 50 years of experience of doing complicated deals. I assume that SJ and his family isn’t some spring chickens either when it comes to negotiations and businesses with a high level of complexity. So with two highly experienced teams of lawyers, accountants and decision makers then this bidding process is open until it’s 100% closed. Both will have the chance to upper their bid until they say stop. These teams don’t leak valuable information to the media except planted stories that suits their narratives. Both are restricted by a NDA that make their maneuver space restricted.

I fully expect the media to be totally outside the loop who’s properly informed and whenever the deal is closed it will be first presented by the Raine Group to the bidders before any public news comes out.

I actually agree with this 100% we actually don’t know but the thought of keeping any Glazer in any capacity sickens me to my vote and I’m sure on this we both agree completely, I don’t care who takes over just as long as no Glazer has any input going forward into the club, of course no one’s considered the third and more obvious option this week, the Glazers decide no sale due to the media leaks, and go into two preferred bidders and ask them to bid a fourth and final time.

If we are on quotas then Labour killed more than the Qatar where does that leaves us?.

I’m with @Berbaclass on this. He still hates me but he does post a lot of interesting stuff in here amongst the sea of shite.

Keep the info coming my good man.

He’s the guy off Harry Enfield and the fast show.

No wait, that’s Paul Whitehouse. :D

In that case nobody knows, not a clue
I haven't really been able to find who he actually is or what his credentials are but I think listening to him speak he has undeniable knowledge and understanding of the situation. He's said some pretty interesting stuff.
