At least both potential owners recognize how important this summer's transfer window is for keeping us on the right track.

I'm sure they would both love a big first signing as well. Kane/Oshimen is definitely incoming.

The reality is this is the easiest thing to fix first, they simply need to make sure the credit line for transfers has been paid and Arnold and Murtourgh will start on players leaving, the obvious ones first players whose contact is coming to an end ;
D De Gea - Renew, P Jones - Let go , A Tuanzebe - Let Go, Garnaucho and Luke shaw have been resigned.

Players who haven’t renewed Like D Dalot and M Rashford will not be an immediate concern. The main problem is selling players like H Maguire, S Mctominay, B Williams, E Bailey, A Teles , A Elanga, all players ETH wishes to let go, they still need signing off by Joel or Avram through Arnold and Murtourgh.

If a preferred bidder is in a 6 week period of due diligence there may be some conversations between SJ or SJR and Glazers all delaying the process. We might make no transfers unless a really good free transfer like A Rabiot is available until August then a mad flurry.

Plus players like D Henderson and DVB who are still injured will have to wait to see what happens then as well.

Conclusion it’s not good so we need clarity in the next two weeks who is buying or not buying the club, then it’s possible to have a pre agreed transfer strategy

I'm fecking terrified to ask this ,but been super busy and cannot dig back through thread. Do we have a feel/info when the 'deal' will be announced? Thanks for any help, cheers.

I want the Glazers out fully, but if Ratcliffe takes the controlling share of United then it's something that we would have been very happy about a year ago.

I trust that he would run the club efficiently, which is an area the Glazers comprehensively failed in and where I suspect Qatar would take a while to get right. I do believe that he would genuinely want United to be successful.

This way, we're also not a pawn for a state and would not need to compromise on our own principles to accept Qatari ownership.

What exactly would they like to be better ?
I'm mot saying it couldn't be better , but are they protesting that daddy hasn't won them the champions league yet?
Well a non entity club that was founded in the 70's winning the lot in it's country year after year was never going to be enough.

I really wouldnt be surprised by that either. I still think it seems more likely.
I'm listening to the twitter space he's currently doing and has said a few things:

- Ratcliffe will have to legally guarantee that the debt will not be bourne by United to the PL
- Qatar will essentially top any offer that JR makes (find out his top number and beat it)
- The cultural differences between bidders are showing.

A lot of INEOS players/ex-players have positive stuff to say about their experience and Sir Jim when asked. I’ve seen a few of them back him.
Not disputing the validity of what they say but they are unlikely to say otherwise while currently employed by them. Look at when Ole said that Joel Glazer loves the club after the protest.

I listened to the space in question for a little while and what he said is what I think is a real possibility. Why should Sheikh Jassim and his father bid higher than the competition when the sensible thing to do is wait and bid slightly lower until they know what the highest offer is. It would've been stupid of Sheikh Jassim to bid higher in the first two rounds especially with how wealthy his family is.

Agree I think they make a fairly good argument.

They haven't said they'd be clearing/moving current debt, just that any new debt won't be borrowed against the club, and even if they did move the current debt off the clubs books it's the clubs money will still be used to pay interest and capital no matter whose name it is borrowed against.

If a family member takes out a loan for you in their name and you pay the monthly repayments it is still your debt and it is still your money paying it back.

The mental gynmastics some of you are doing to convince yourselves that Radcliffe debt is better than Glazer debt is mindboggling.

But not all debt is the same... INEOS/SJR could pay it back at a higher rate bringing down the interest and length of the loan, could they not? The Glazers never did such a thing just let it rot and gain interest.

Oh no, Ratcliffe won't buy us Haaland 2.0 and build us our own Etihad.

Calm down, feckos. Bayern don't need sugar daddy investment, nor do Barca or Real Madrid. We'll be fine just as long as Ratcliffe doesn't use us as a personal piggy bank, which he won't because we're insignificant compared to the value of INEOS, or force more debt on us (big maybe at this point, sure but again, INEOS big-big and we're a football club).

Keeping the Glazers on in any way whatsoever is a massive FECK-YOURSELF-WITH-A-BRICK though. Not having that.

I wonder what INEOS’ stock of ‘palancas’ is like. Maybe if things get tight he could activate a few! :D

Remember kids - levers good! Leverage baaaaad!!

Can’t help but feel like you didn’t need much convincing
It just makes sense. Even how the media are trying to make this into a transfer deal. They've spun it into a narrative now where if JR wins then then can say we told you so. On the other hand, they can be like Qatar made a big last-minute deal to buy the club and blew JR out the water to win etc bla bla. They are just trying to generate clicks.

Makes sense that most of the guys reporting on this are hit-and-miss for football transfers, never mind business deals.

Perhaps the offer to keep the Glazers on is the only way to get the deal done?
Do you think Qatar has gone to a 3rd round if there is a chance they have been told the Glazers want to retain 20% after being so clear that they only want full control?

Qatar aren’t really in a position to demand anything. The Glazers could be looking for a figure Qatar have yet to reach and Ratcliffe in the meantime has come up with a deal which might tempt the Glazers?

It's just not how they do business. They wouldn't entertain this process if the whole club wasn't on the table IMO.

The media reporting on this isn't a conspiracy. There are very senior reporters putting their names to this stuff - chief sports editor of the Telegraph, sports editor of The Times, senior sports reporter of the BBC etc.

These people don't put their names to just any story in order to generate clicks - they are well connected and will be getting briefings from senior sources involved in the process. Their reputation for accuracy is critical to them unlike most other sports 'journalists'.

It's possible they are getting played to some extent but they are definitely getting fed the info by trusted sources and aren't making it up for clicks.

Well, none of us know how they do business, but it is obvious they want the club outright, but haven’t hit the number the Glazers (who control everything) want. I’m suggesting Ratcliffe has come up with a deal they might make if Qatar don’t want to hit that number.

The perception is Qatar wanted the club and would go all out to get it. The Glazers are are looking to see if they “put up, or shut up“

Sports is not business. It's a completely different world.

Why is that obvious? It's a confidential process that came to an 'end' on Friday evening. It's perfectly plausible that only a handful of people in the world currently know how much each bidder has valued the club at.

What you just said isn't relevant and it's not entirely true because they are clearly interconnected.

The journalistic integrity of the people reporting this stuff is high and they don't make crap up for clicks. Simon Stone of the BBC for example is very very careful not to put his name to anything that's not well sourced and backed up.

Well, if the club is sold to Qatar we should expect the announcement shortly.

You are naive.
