Well it’s over 1bn short of a valuation that’s already 700m short of the asking price. It seems rather significant to me. I don’t see how they’d just up it if they haven’t so far 3 bids in. Plus they never mentioned this in their briefs - they were promising a total of 8bn because of how much they wanted the club when the debt and investment was factored in - seems like this whole thing has been a PR exercise.
Quite possible

He was also talking about Jim being a stalking horse yesterday.
How the feck any one of these journos can claim to be ITK now is a joke
Yeah I've decided in my own mind now to just not really believe anything coming out in the next few days unless official. A lot of PR and games are being played out.

You must be a rival fan whose seem the great job Ratcliff has done at his Swiss and French clubs.
No, I just can't stand the thought of us being owned by Qatar. I'd rather be shit than be a sportswashing vehicle for such a regime. So I'm elated.

I do wonder if the Qataris have called the Glazers bluff here.

According to reports they are the only ones bidding for a full take over.

Let’s be cynical and assume that Avram and Joel’s sudden love for the club they have shown no interest in the last 18 years, the club whose fans have actively protested their family every match for over a decade and who they’ve received the occasional death thread from has just been a negotiation tactic.

As far fetched that it might be that considering they have always been football people…

SJR’s offer is on the table and it’s enough to buy out the other four.

Avram and Joel are left as minority owners with no say over how things are run. They have no say if they are paid dividends. They have no say if SJR suddenly goes all Boehly and runs the club into the ground.

Or, they say to their siblings they want the sale split evenly because they don’t really want to stay and the other siblings have no appetite for retaining minority shares.

The Qataris while lower per share, are offering to buy all the shares and perhaps all the Glazers ever wanted.

Possible. But if the reports are true Jassim has really misread the situation.
If the reports are true it'll be interesting to see people back pedalling from all the Brexit Jim and RATcliffe nonsense.

Jassim’s dad came across as lukewarm at best. Qatar already have PSG. Just want a resolution to this now. If it’s Jim then do it quickly.

I was listening to Ben Jacobs there and he was saying that Qatar considers Ratcliffe a minority investor.

Yes and also probably explains why there was this additional stage, there was probably a hope or assumption the Qatari’s would dramatically increase their bid. From the speculation it seems like they were never really in the race as there offer is nowhere near.

If you believe Jacobs then there really isn't that much between the two bids, relatively. You would imagine if that is the case Qatar will at least match Ratcliffe
I read it differently.

That the Qatar bid of £5bn includes debt and their planned investment into the club (so would only be £4bn or less going towards buying shares)

Whereas the Ineos £5bn bid doesn’t include anything else other than buying shares, so the Glazers would get much more if they sold all their shares to them

They know jack shit about actual valuations and his explanation about confusion about Qatari's bid being deemed higher than it actually was, was quite flimsy at best .

At the start of this or at least by bid 2, surely Raine would’ve made the Qataris aware that any future investment being included in the bid wouldn’t be relevant to the bid process.

So, according to Ben Jacobs, it seems that Jassim's bid is c. £800m (the amount he has pledged for investment) short of that of Ineos/SJR.

Jassim has included the £800m investment in his offer (which pads out his final bid up to just over £5bn), while the Ineos/SJR bid is £5bn straight (without investment figures to top it up).

If true, Qatar are toast.

Okay? Why did Raine group take them to the third round if they were 800m short of INEOS?

Doesn’t add up.

Sheikh Jassim wants to buy the Glazer shares and the other shares too. Sir Jim apparently just wants the Glazer shares. Neither makes any difference in ownership. As long as you own 51% of the club that's enough and you have full control on anything.

Example: Sheikh Mansoor doesn't own 100% of Man city. He's sold off small chunks to the far East. I think it's about 30% now that he's sold off but he still owns the majority of the club and thus can still do what he likes.

So I think people getting twisted over 69% or 100% are wasting their time and breath. It really doesn't matter that much. It's still a takeover.

Will still be true no?
Forgot to capitalise the RAT in Ratcliffe. ;)

Although I do find the suggestion that a serious bidder in the third round of a multi-billion dollar takeover process has only now revealed what their bid actually pertains to...to be a bit silly to say the least.

Yeah, it's all very questionable at the moment. Probably best to step back for a few days and wait for actual news.

SJR taking control would be a bad day for United. The fecking leechers would still be here and SJR doesn't have the cash to catapult us into the 21st century, so that means debt, debt and more debt to fund the OT & Carrington renovations.
