Club Sale | It’s done!

I do love how many leaks are coming out when everyone is supposedly under NDA's... I know they do happen, but still. Everything is so conflicting

He’s still a Brexiteering Tory and INEOS are still a petrochemical company. I don’t think people are going to backtrack - most of us disassociate the owners from the club.
And over half the British electorate were 'Brexiteers' back in 2016, and Qatar's entire wealth derives from fossil fuels. ;)

SJR taking control would be a bad day for United. The fecking leechers would still be here and SJR doesn't have the cash to catapult us into the 21st century, so that means debt, debt and more debt to fund the OT & Carrington renovations.
At least we'll be champions of the moral high ground

If jassim wasn't ready to significantly up the bid then he should have pulled out. That would have allowed SJR to lowball the rats and the money spared would have been invested in the club

I see people are taking the INEOS news well:

Sheikh Jassim wants to buy the Glazer shares and the other shares too. Sir Jim apparently just wants the Glazer shares. Neither makes any difference in ownership. As long as you own 51% of the club that's enough and you have full control on anything.

Example: Sheikh Mansoor doesn't own 100% of Man city. He's sold off small chunks to the far East. I think it's about 30% now that he's sold off but he still owns the majority of the club and thus can still do what he likes.

So I think people getting twisted over 69% or 100% are wasting their time and breath. It really doesn't matter that much. It's still a takeover.
The Glazer family has 10 times the voting power. You'd need to own a lot of the club before you outmuscle them

We absolutely don’t know that, nothing has been confirmed about how INEOS will fund their bid. It’s just presumed by doom mongers like yourself.

Doom mongers like myself and every single news report in the last week

But sure whatever

It would sort of be funny if Jassim has pump faked Ratcliffe into overspending by a billion

After this shameful episode, I wonder if his dad feels the same :nervous:

I few thoughts

If you were Joel and Avram Glazer would you trust SJR as a business man and let him have some sorts of control of the majority of your wealth?

Just a quick google search tells you that this man has a history of lies, broken promises and shady business decisions. Not to mention his in political involvement. I’m 100% sure that the Glazers has done their due diligence on this man.

What would you prefer in todays unstable economical times? Cash on the table or a minority stake in a closed envelope locked in a complicated ownership without having any saying on key decisions?

The Glazer siblings are both 50 year+ and with that comes some sorts of financial maturity and for most of us an unwillingness to gamble with our wealth too much. The opportunity to cash in $1B to your own bank account in one single deal don’t come often.

From what I can understand all parties in this sale process is still restricted by a NDA. My bet is still that the NTF with SJ is the preferred buyer and I base that solely on my experience and common logical sense.

It's almost like they are guessing isn't it :wenger:
Well yeah i'd say most of it is guesswork. Reminds me of the whole "SJR and SJ bids are in, confirmed" and then a few hours later, no confirmed bid and they've got an extension. Pure guesswork by the lot of them

And? I’m pro Ratcliffe. It’s my favoured bid of the options. I’m not going to twerk for him though. He’s in all likelihood a colossal cnut. A cnut who owns a company doing shit tons of damage to the planet. However, because unlike some very noisy people in this thread I don’t believe a football club is defined by who owns it I can keep supporting the club whilst acknowledging its owner is a cnut. Just like I’ve done my entire life.

Well apparently Jassim doesn't have the cash to get us in the first place.

SJR can be a standard wealthy owner, just operate the club smartly. We don't need Qatar money. We just need smart management. Invest in infrastructure over time, no need to rush it. Operate the football side with intelligence rather than throw money in the trash like we have the past decade. Glazers might stay short term, eh, whatever. They are minority shareholders, not decision makers, not in control. SJR will just buy them out over time which is fine too.

Avoiding being a state run, play thing for some Qatari prince is a win for me. Keeps our morals intact. Winning fairly, working your way up without resorting to turning on the infinite money switch also makes it much sweeter. Not like we have any disadvantage, we are still among the richest in the world and will have a super rich owner. This is a very good scenario for us and hugely improved over the past 20 years.

Glazers would reject and just take investment from Elliot instead

Or Carlyle then. Raine could easily find investors looking to take a minority stake
Carlyle and Qatar have very close links/business ties. Unlikely to go up against them

Minority investment is not an option currently

Ownership matters though.

I just hate the false equivalency drawn between the two bidders.

I wouldn't trust SJR but keep in mind that these Glazers don't actually need money, you don't need 1 billion to leave lavishly especially when you are not that young, you don't have to spend that much to finance your life. The billions are only interesting when it comes to business and having collaterals or if you want to brag about being a billionaire. Now for the same reason hundreds of billionaires around the world have their assets linked to a sport entity, these may just like the idea of being part of United and it may be worth several hundreds of millions to them.
