Jordan from Muppetiers saying he heard that Raine had a preferred bidder but the Glazers insisted on another round. Also says from what he’s heard Qatar the most likely outcome.

I was fully expecting:

Thomas Zilliacus confirms his third bid for the final stage. He will now be asking United fans to raise over £5bn taking his bid past the £6bn asking price.

I don’t believe this third round would have been the Raine Group’s idea, there just isn’t the level of interest for it. It’s essentially just Glazers bluffing another bidder might come in or hoping someone gets impatient and ups their bid. There is a very good chance the offers won’t be increased at all.

The Raine Group will just want the sale done now so they get their commission.

The Glazers look to me like they’re playing the man rather than the ball. Ratcliffe’s reputation is as the guy who is left standing when all other bidders fall away. The Qataris are motivated bidders with endless money. There’ll be an element of pride there which may mean they would be more stung by losing the auction rather than being perceived as having overpaid (or being the dumb money in the room, to use Ratcliffe’s own words). A third round might lead nowhere, but given that the Glazers have the Elliot money on the table, I wouldn’t bet on it. I suspect they’ll be proven right, at least in that there’ll be some uplift.

Which one was Jordan? was he in Dr teeth and the electric mayhem?

5 years to rebuild or redevelop the stadium? Didn’t it take spurs like 1 year?

Spurs' stadium took 11 years from announcement to completion.

If United go for a brand new stadium, they won't be playing in it before 2030. Refurb will of course take less time.

As much as this Thomas guy was never a serious thing I'm glad he's spouting in the media and calling out the Glazers.

Started about 2015, finished in 2019.
Yes, and that’s after getting planning permission. New owners will need to get architects in to assess it, draw up plans, then get planning permission. Probably at least 2/3 years before they even get the diggers on the ground.

He might not have been a serious bidder but he's made some valid points. Either the Glazers aren't taking the sale of the club seriously at all and are using it as an exercise to find out how much money they could get if they choose to cash out in the future, or this third round of bidding is purely driven by greed. Sickening either away, given they're set to make disgusting amounts of profit off actively running the club into the ground.

Wasting the time of big corporations and billionaires just to find out how much they can get? You can't be serious..

There's plenty of reports about the family being split over whether they want to stay involved with Man Utd. I don't think it's as cut and dry as putting the club up for the sole purpose of getting a valuation, but if they get an inkling that's it's possible to make more money out of the club by holding on for a little while longer, I can absolutely see them doing that.

I cant wait until the glazers go. I don't know much about this guy but it makes me smile he called them out. Typical old school American money grabbers, think everything revolves around them and everything outside is a jungle.

Unless the new owners change the plans, i believe we already have those. They appointed Legends International and Populous to come up with several redevelopment plans and it was rumoured those plans were part of the bidding process. Obviously will need planning permission first though.

I’m trying to conceive myself that surely the glazers are leading these serious high level people to not sell, they would lose and credibility they have.
Hopefully it’ll be done by late May.

You could be right. If Raine really do have a preferred bidder then a third round really isn’t going to achieve much other than squeeze a few million more out of the deal. You’d think that once the end of the month comes they can plump for their bidder and things can move along quite quickly after that.

It wouldnt surprise me if there will be a 5.5b bid from Qataris and a lower one from JR as he has said after the 2nd bid he wouldnt pay crazy money and maybe 5b is the limit for him. After Raine conclude Qataris preferred bid there will be some to-ing and fro-ing and this will end when the season ends. It also wouldnt surprise me that the 500m difference is made up in other ways, so the leeches get their 6b and Qataris can say they didnt dance to Glazers tune (officially)

Out of interest, has a single Glazer spawn shown any acumen whatsoever in a single field of enterprise?

This all screams to me a bunch of outrageously spoiled, incompetent children trying to act like they know what they're doing with 'business' to all their 'friends' and really negotiate hard to get what they 'deserve'.

On the flip side, the buyer is an even more spoiled child, so that kind of sucks.

What would you do if you were the Glazers?

I am no Glazer sympathizer.. but why are people surprised that the Glazers want to maximize their profits.. who the feck wouldn't?

As Warren Buffett would call them, they're 'members of the lucky sperm club'.
