Club ownership | Senior management team talk

I'm probably being incredibly naive here - but why doesn't the Premier League question what the Glazers are doing? They are potentially threatening the stability of one of the PL's prize assets in Manchester United. How can the Glazers get away with this? How are they getting away with it.
As I said, I am probably incredibly naive here and someone may patronizingly say "Because the Glazers legally can do it" but its just shocking and obviously depressing that it's happening.

Probably a joy for any rival fan to see this happening to us, but if they saw it happening to their club they'd hopefully realise how diabolical this all is.
The Premier League is happy to see Manchester United crumble. Why should they intervene? Their darling Liverpool will return to the perch that Fergie knocked them down from.

No problems but even if we hire people now... from my experience, when a business is failing badly, which we are, strong harsh decisions have to be made in order to get back to a sustainable model that works.

I mean the Glazers have let this club so far that regardless who took over, who is hired, those harsh decisions would have needed to be made.

I would say give it another year to see if INEOS have learnt from their mistakes and if what they are trying to implement will work. This will be the first summer window with a proper footballing structure.

If in a years time things are just as bad, then you are right and I will hold it.

I agree it’s not a quick fix on or off the pitch and so much has been changed in such a short space of time that it’s not really a surprise it’s not worked out.

When look back at the summer there was no real leadership established and who was calling the shots in deciding to bring in Ashworth and retain ETH. Those two decisions had immediate and big knock on impacts, also how was the recruitment planned given the lack of leadership and no decision made on ETH until quite late in the day.

If I'm being generous I’d hope that we attribute the summer to INEOS and a lack of preparation and have to know hope that in Berrada, Wilcox, Amorim and Vivell there will now be sufficient preparation and competence in place to make better decisions.

Some good signings, some good sales and if Amorim can get some momentum then things could change very quickly, results on the pitch make a lot of the other noise go away. But even if the aforementioned people are any good it’s a big ask.

The bit about buying players to suit ETH's style then having to buy a load more to suit Amorim's style is just opinion. Players don't fit just one style and way more important is are they good enough.

If they're going to talk about wasting money it'd be better to stick to facts like the interest payments etc.

Hmm. I think it is opinion grounded in reality though.

Are you saying it is just coincidence that the majority of players we purchased under ETH were either Dutch or had played under ETH?

Said this in another thread and the latest numbers back it up, I think it’s the end of the road for the Glazers, the club is pretty much broke and Ineos can’t save it. They’ll need to sell and it’s why they have the ability to drag Ineos on a sale as they contemplated needing to do a sale in the near future.

What a waste of time and money sticking with Ten Hag and hiring Ashworth. INEOS have looked far from best in class so far.

Fairly clear that INEOS have just been used by the Glazers as a shield, to provide cover for what they are doing with the debt re-financing. And it has worked. How often do we hear the "Glazers out" chants now? Definitely not as frequently, because the propaganda has worked in convincing fans that INEOS are the real owners now, whilst the actual crime continues to go on behind closed doors.

We should be seeing the strongest fan revolt/protesting that English football has ever seen. A behemoth of an institution being ransacked, pillaged, and ran into the ground by the Glazers is simply unacceptable, is it not? Ticket price increases for the worst football played in United shirts in many lifetimes? How and why are we not seeing such a level of unrest to the point where drastic measures are taken? This is worse than Barcelona by a country mile.

Top reds is why. This fan base can't get on the same page for anything

The only way to get a reaction out of the Glazers, is to get a home game postponed because that’d hit them in the pocket. It worked last time after thd SuperLeague fiasco. They’re not bothered about the usual fan protests or walkouts as they’ve already had your money from gate receipts.

Oh they were ETH's pick alright.

I just mean we don't have to sign a whole new set of players just because we now play 3 CB's.

Plenty of stuff to rip the senior management for but the financial implications of a formation change don't exist.

One game isn’t enough. Fans need to come together and shut down every single home game until the club is sold. You can’t just hurt their pockets, you have to destroy their finances. I know this is easy for me to say as a passionate fan in America, but fans must step in until the parasites fully destroy their finances host.

Anyone whose still interested in pro INEOS propaganda should listen to the Muppetiers latest video

This is actually the opposite of true. The Premier League's success in the 90s was hugely linked to United's popularity hence why Sky wanted to buy United at one point. United attract the most viewership of all the teams in the league and consistently fill their stadium. United have the most columns written about them in the media and attract the biggest number of viewers on YouTube. Where is the equivalent of Mark Goldbridge (idiot that he is) for other clubs? There isn't one. Many people in the media have their careers fundamentally linked to United's success or failure.

United is probably the only team in the league that can command a dedicated journalist with the title "Manchester United Correspondent" for each major newspaper.

A decline in United's fortunes will very likely lead to a decline in interest in the Premier League. Nobody overseas gives a shit about City and some of the other clubs occupying the top 6 right now apart from maybe Liverpool and Arsenal.

The PL's case against City is also very much a case of trying to help clubs like United that generate their own revenues. I know a lot of United supporters that simply watch less PL matches than they did before because it is painful to watch. Maybe that makes them bad supporters, sure but ultimately for the PL it means less eye balls on the league and reduction in overall sponsorship revenue. United's recent failures might in fact be tied to the stagnant value of the current broadcasting rights contract in the UK. If United were doing well it is likely the league would be in a better negotiating position for that contract.

La Liga have always known their success was tied to Real Madrid and Barcelona and hence they have that ridiculous revenue distribution model, but fundamentally it is the same. A league with a Real Madrid or Barcelona team that are not healthy / doing well is bad for La Liga.

Under ten hag we signed so many players that lack the pace and strength the Premier league requires and most don't even have the technique required for the top level.

For example amorim supposedly wants to play a high line but we only have one centre back woth any reap pace

@Andy_Cole was right all along
Honestly it pains me to be right. I genuinely wished I was wrong and INEOS were the dream owners. I love this club and always will. I’m a season ticket holder and go to most games.

I don’t know how we get out of this mess. Feel like we need a Qatari knight to save us now as INEOS/ Glazers won’t do it.

Totally. Agree. But that's a question of quality whatever the system.

There's no extra financial burden from switching formations.

I'd say that's one thing we can absolve the senior management of. That's media piling on.

I think in hindsight the “investment/sale” fiasco we saw go down in public that brought us to INEOS was all a fiasco orchestrated to set up INEOS as fall guys. I think there would be no shortage of reputable suitors if the Glazers had a metaphorical knife to their throat and were being forced into a full sale.

As I said before Ineos got their share, it will be probably a mess. First of all, Glazers are still here, but with no responsibility of shitshow Ineos is making, Ineos is not so rich or they don't give money so easily, they are treating club staff like trash, still no true vision of clubs path for future.

The Varane interview...oof another biting reminder of the leadership ineptitude. Of course a large portion of the fans will just say he's bitter and washed up and keep supporting the Glazers and INEOS.

We're absolutely screwed, the finances sound even worse than I thought.

No CL football next season could absolutely cripple us.

I can definitely see a massive hike in ST prices for next season, there's no way they freeze them.

Okay, this tweet is insane. The debt refinancing is not talked about ENOUGH. A simple change in currency rates can effectively save 100s of jobs, get us a couple of players and make or break whether we meet PSR rules. This is just for the previous quarter. WTF!

The government can mandate a club get sold (Chelsea) but can’t mandate that our club to not allow the club’s owners to suck money from the club to pay 1billion pounds of financing debt??

How would that work? The 'government' tells the club to just stop paying interest on their debt? That's obviously not how anything works.

The only way for us fans to really make a point and get attention is to boycott going to games, we stop buying season tickets and going to matches or stop buying merchandise as the cnuting Glazer’s and the equally clueless Ineos only understand one thing which is money and with what we have to endure we shouldn’t be giving our hard earned for them anymore.

Unless you have a time machine so the Premier League can travel 20 years back in time to deal differently with the takeover what can they do about it now? The debt is there.

I agree. We were sold down the river by greedy men and now we have to deal with their negligence and greed. It could have been stopped and should have been stopped and we are left to rue the consequences. Unless we are bought out by a nation-state, or a consortium with the resources of one, the future is grim. The whole sorry saga of the Glazers' ownership makes my blood boil.

It would be something if the owners came out and actually set out what the plan is for the club going forward. The Glazers haven't uttered a fecking word in 20 years and INEOS have barely said anything either.

By whom? The club was bought in an entirely legal way using a common business practice, it still is a legal practice, the PL have changed their rules, as of last week, fully leveraged buyouts are not allowed in the PL

I didn't say it wasn't legal did I? I said we were sold down the river by greedy men and if you can't name them, you haven't been paying attention.

Why would they sell? They gave a pittance of shares to Ratcliffe and all the media and fan pressure that had took years to build evaporated overnight whilst they remained fully in control of the club
