CL Semi-Finals 13/14 - April 22,23,29,30

I really get the feeling that we won the Bundesliga because the team was just playing, but the more Pep's philosophy krept in, the worse it got. Even against Arsenal we were shite and unconvincing and it's just gotten worse every week since then.
Pep rested players from games after you won, do you think he would have been better just keeping the momentum going? Or is he not as good as made out?

Heh. Bayern dismantled Pep's tiki taka last year and Real have dismantled Pep's tiki taka this year. There's a easy way to play against it, as long as you have a bit of pace.

Guardiola simply doesn't have a plan B. The idea that he's an all time great manager is ridiculous.

SPOT ON BY GARY. '
I remember some fans giving him a hard time about his comments about tiki taka a few weeks ago. SPEED, WING PLAY, CIUNTER ATTACK. That is where it is at.

Yes Gary, we get it, pace and power. You also fail to mention it cost Madrid £180m.

Soooo is Pep still bmitw?

It's possible to lose to Real Madrid without being a bad manager, you do know that don't you?

Or was Fergie crap and past it when we got humped twice by Pep's Barcelona?

Madrid have been decent, no more. They've not needed to be. Bayern's naivety has made it so easy for Madrid.

Agreed, I dont think Pep is that great a manager, he got very lucky with the Barca team coming to its peak, and has taken over a side that was totally dominant last season and has made them look beatable and far inferior. The work he did with Barca was more containing than it was progressive.
His style with Barca worked perfectly because of the players he had at his disposal IMO. The style worked perfectly when you have the best player ever in messi to provide all the penetration as well as iniesta and Xavi behind you controlling and making chances.

Calm down. Geez basing on one game.

Dortmund should have knocked out this Madrid team.

Real are basically doing a better job on Bayern than Bayern did on Barcelona themselves. And again it's Pep's footballing philosophy on the wrong side of a thrashing.

Bayern are so much better suited to a similar style, but they've had it all sucked out of them slowly.
I wasn't that impressed by them against us either.

What Red Nev thinks of Bayern vs Real

He's becoming increasingly annoying; I see where he's coming from but using a 200M forward line to make a point and coming out every week with an 'I told you so' is very tedious

Pep only knows how to play one way, and that's what separates him from the very best.

Gary Neville is nuts. Madrid have Bale and Ronaldo, plus di Maria. We don't have players of that quality.

Peps tactics tonight have been worse than anything SAF ever did.

That's why he rates Valencia as well.

Middle of the road offensive football vs Barcelona was just as stupid, what's even worse was doing the exact same thing a second time with a worse team.

Served Neville and in turn United well when tiki-taka was comprehensively beating them in two CL finals. Or when Spain won three major tournaments on the bounce.

You are watching the winners here, Chelsea can park as many buses in front of goal as like they'll still find a way through.

I hope though it's a Madrid derby in the final, that would be brilliant to watch.

He's not had a plan B for years. Zlatan was supposed to be it, but he couldn't incorporate one of the most effective strikers in the world.

I was just under the impression Pep could do no wrong ;)

I bet he is feeling like that right now.

BVB will turn us into pieces in the DFB Pokalfinale if we keep playing like that..

That ends the Pep hype.

I think it is safe to assume that Ancelotti is off the list now.

Van Gaal it is.

It worked so well with Barca because, unlike Schweinsteiger and Kroos, Iniesta and Xavi can actually play amazing through balls. Our two guys can't even play decent ones. Also, Xaviesta had Busqets behind them. We have Martinez, but he seems to be too awesome for Guardiola to comprehend.

This is Messiless, Xaviless, Iniestaless tiki taka.

Won't work.

I've just seen that Bayern have made 293 passes in this game, compared to Real's 122

Winning the league did more harm than good, that much is obvious. The intensity dropped severely and players simply didn't care for the league matches. We would have been much better had we not won the league so early in my opinion. That being said, I still reckon this Madrid side would have gone through. It's plain obvious how susceptible to counters we are and to not start Javi, a player who was the difference last season is crazy. Kroos and Bastian in DM simply does not work, we need a destroyer in there. Baffles me why Javi was benched. Good luck to Madrid in the final, much deserved. Playing brilliant football this year and you can just see how much they want it.

We will see how next year goes, but Pep has some tinkering to do in the summer. We need to combine the strengths of his tactics and what made Bayern so lethal last year, otherwise expect more of the same next season.
