City agree £30m fee with Swansea for Bony

Only di Maria was slightly overpriced.

This is exactly what I am talking about in terms of double standards, ADM is in no ways a 60 million player. We bought a Lb for 30 million and yes he can be a great investment but it is still much more than what any other club would pay. Heck we paid 15 odd million plus Nani's wages for Rojo and are paying 15 million for a season long loan for Falcao

Liverpool game aside I didn't think Jovetic has made that much of an impact.....6 in 22 games

Bony has 3 more goals in the same games in a worse team....

think City need an advanced frontman rather than Jovetic who seems more of a #10 to me in his play (especially when you have guys like Silva/Nasri)

Jovetic has mainly been injured, he hasn't even played 90 minutes this season. When hes played however he gets a goal or and assist.
The only thing Bony has on him is that he can stay fit IMO.

Damn that's annoying. I like the guy. Who must he go to City?! :(

Surprised they're going for him to be honest. Isn't really an elite striker, but I guess they are in need of strikers. They've played Milner up front for 3/4 games.

£30 million and £100,000 a week for 4 years means the total outlay towards FFP will be £12.7 million per season.

why would that be cheeky and what good would it do us?

I actually think it would be good for us tbh, if he got games there (Regular games week in week out). I just don't think it would be the smartest move for them.

What's the situation with Dzeko? Maybe they think they can get ~20m for him, and save out on his wages for a younger player?

£100k a week is actually a very decent salary for a striker costing £30m. Dzeko must be on £120-150k a week?

It would be cheeky, because, dunno.

And it would hopefully get him more starts in the premier league but as I have just read/remembered, they have Gomis so that is probably out.

With our luck with injuries I think we need 4 strikers unless LvG plans to rotate Adnan instead. I could see Januzaj leaving on loan before Wilson.

The thing I worry about is that we have to compete with this.

City are the ones who ruined the market the most, together with Chelsea and Real they spend and spend and spend. It's very difficult to beat a club that has a policy based on unlimited funds.

You mean, unlike United that have to rebuild on a modest budget?

I said he was slightly overpriced, and you are not going to get a player like di Maria for considerably less. Luke Shaw's potential combined with his current ability is easily worth 30m in my opinion.

I don't mind Rojo at 15m, and the Falcao fee is fine for getting to rent a world class striker for a year - without committing to buy unless we like what we see. I'm not so sure his loan fee was as much as 15m either?

loved Bony's finish vrs QPR - he seems to be a menace to most defences he plays against

maybe reliability is an issue for Jovetic - 21 league games in a year and a half isn't great

Dribbling, pace, link-up play.
Bony is very good at linking up play though? The first two Sturridge has him beat, fair enough, but Bony is more aggressive, provides the opposition a lot of trouble, a better headerer of the ball and a better finisher.

They're different types of strikers and all round, Sturridge is a better player but it's really not that great distance.

Negredo wasn't happy at City and City will get £25m for him and so 'only' another £5m to get Bony who is younger and better imho.

Aguero is not leaving. Bony will play alongside Aguero. Dzeko doesn't work well with Aguero, Jovetic is more creative like a half striker half AM.

I think Dzeko will be the one to leave if anyone does but maybe no-one will. Pellegrini likes to play with 2 strikers and to do that you need 4 strikers in the squad, especially as Aguero and Jovetic seem to be injury prone.

As for those saying what's the point in buying him he's off to ACON. The AFCON is all over on Feb 8th plus I am sure City are buying him for the future not just this season.

Good signing imo. Could well help seal the PL Title.

With the exception of Agüero. Which elite striker did they ever sign?

Just read on Facebook* that Swansea are gonna have the option of keeping him for a year.

* Yeah i know but i live not far from Swansea and a lot of people on my Facebook are Swansea fans.

He's a good player. Tad overpriced, but he's a proven goalscorer.

I think he's a very good signing for City with the amount of chances they create and with a crocked Aguero on their books.

Dzeko will be off the summer, I think. He's had a good run at City, but I'm sure he's ready to be first choice somewhere else.

Decent signing for City. It's steep but we've overpaid way more than that in the last 18 months. He's a very good striker. 20 million would be fair so it's not that excessive.

Wow. I suppose having a good fit striker for the games Aguero will miss will probably give City that extra push that could see them win the title but it's still quite a lot of money.

More like £20m, but I guess the point still stands.

Excuse my ignorance but whats so funny about this?

It's implicit. It was a joke. I don't think he is good enough and Swansea will surely have to find a solution in the transfer market. By the way, i mantain the question, has he kicked the ball yet? Has he been seen in the Swansea nightlife?

They are nuts. :wenger:

It's not like he is bad player, but completely unnecesarry one when he is not even close as good as Aguero or much(if any) better than Dzeko and Jovetic.

Well done Manchester City, splashing money on another player who won't improve their first XI.

Could this be another Roque Santa Cruz though? Didn't he have a blinding spell and Blackburn before going to city?

I know different times and different level of expectations, but still

He's currently on loan at Valencia but it seems there is a compulsory buy clause in the contract and the figure quoted is £25m. But who knows for sure.

Meh. He'll do alright, they'll sell him for a loss in two years when they see something shinier.

But he will likely be fit though unlike the rest tbh. Jovetic is injury prone and so is Agureo tbh. Not a bad backup to have around is Bony

You do know that Aguero suffers regular injuries ? And he is much better than Dzeko ! And that City have been playing without a striker for weeks !

Hes not, but the injury thing is very true.
