City agree £30m fee with Swansea for Bony

A bit pricey but he's proven in the PL and is at a good age having just turned 26. I reckon he'll compliment Aguero a lot better then Dzeko ever did too.

Not sure about Hernandez at £30 million being better, personally.
And I actually don't see many strikers out there.

Bony's one of those who'll just score goals. Barring a horrendous injury or him being benched every game, I don't see any reasons why he couldn't translate his Swansea record (or close to that record) to City. And he's made for this league. no question marks in that regard.

Honestly speaking when Aguero is fit, he aint really going to get a look in, unless they play them both?
I actually think Dzeko is better, it would be a good signing if he wasn't going to AFCON when hes back I expect Aguero will be back too.

Swansea have a good player in Gomis lined up anyway.

I think Bony is a good player. Yeah it's a bit pricey but it would make no sense for Swansea to sell at £20 million, so City are doing what they have to (or want to) do.

Hernandez at £30 would be a better deal for them, and more than we would get for him, not that I'd want him going there, but there aren't a shortage of good forwards.

Bony is better than Hernandez.

He won't be a stop gap. He's 26, which will mean that Dzeko and Negredo who are 28/29 respectively can be shifted and Aguero/Jovetic/Bony can be the three strikers which City operate with for the next couple of seasons.

Think it's a great signing, personally. City don't have that type of striker, and he gives them more options. He's been consistently good in the prem for over a year too. Fast, strong and scores goals.

Money doesn't matter to City anyway. They'll just get the Etihad deal to increase by exactly what they need to meet FFP.

Don't see much wrong with the fee myself, he's quality and proved himself over a prolonged period.

I would question whether City should be spending that money on someone who will probably only be rotated in and out of the team though. What's wrong with their other strikers?

A very effective Premier League striker on his day, however that fee speaks a good deal for the current state of the market and the importance in which City view their need for reinforcements. What kind of standing he is in 12-18 months from now, well you do but wonder.

That's a great bit of business by Swansea. They only paid £12m one and a half seasons ago for him. Tidy £18m profit in 18 months!

Yeah, that's the one thing about this that I don't really understand. How much will he play when Aguero's fit?
But, in that case, waiting until the summer and buying someone better than Bony is hardly better. Unless they were better than Aguero, which is unlikely.

As for Dzeko, I still don't know what to make of him after all this time. He'll probably be off in the summer.

And will they ever give a chance to someone coming out of this fancy academy they keep making a fuss about?

Good signing for them imo. Price is a bit steep alright, but with Aguero being constantly injured and Dzeko being a bit shit at times(and amazing at other times), it's a good signing. He'll go better with Aguero than Dzeko too imo, he has a bit more of a presence and can go deep too.

Can they only spend £50m pounds again this year with FFP, or whats the deal there?

So they basically get 3 months out of him

Well hell a lot can happen in 3 months, when it comes to title chase or progress in CL.Guess winning 2 PL titles in a row is a bit important for them.

I rate Bony in the same way I rated Demba Ba at Newcastle.....good solid attacking player but 30 million does seem excessive......nice to see someone else pay Manchester United prices

obviously a talented player but considerably better than Dzeko? (no) Jovetic? (yes) and Negredo? (not really - not sure why they got shot of him)

I do find this strange considering his availability - Aguero's fitness for the last 18 months has been awful

Reminds me a bit of your Fellaini signing under Moyes. Decent footballer going for about £10m more than he should. Could (should) have signed him for £11m less in the summer. I'm grateful because it means I won't have to watch him sign for us.
He's miles better than any of your strikers bar Sturridge (not far off from him either) and I don't see you lot getting any better than him in January or the summer.

I think it shows ambition from City, they are closing in on Chelsea and the title is in sight, but their strikers Aren't fit so they just buy a new one. Bony is easily a 20goals per season striker, if not more.

Hes not better than Jovetic tbh

I'm just glad that's one less target Liverpool can get. I've grown to accept City will do this kind of thing, I want to see Pool suffer.

The thing I worry about is that we have to compete with this.

City are the ones who ruined the market the most, together with Chelsea and Real they spend and spend and spend. It's very difficult to beat a club that has a policy based on unlimited funds. I'm not really bothered by this particular transfer, it's just going to be difficult for us if you look at what quality teams like City, Chelsea, Bayern, Real have right now in their squad right now. And then there's the likes of Arsenal who also have some insane players if everyone's fit and in form. Barca luckily have a ban.

Next year will be very tough for us, more than ever we can't afford to screw up our transfers this summer. We don't need that many players, just a couple who fit perfectly. And if we don't get them, our rivals will. Imagine what Arsenal would do with an extra world class defender and striker, and they have the money too buy.

As for Bony, no he's not better than Dzeko, Dzeko was a beast in the Bundesliga and potentially he's as good as Costa for me, has the goals to back it up too, even at City. But Bony is still a very good player, better than Hernandez or Welbeck or Balotelli, better than Soldado too. They now have an insane strike force, which comes in very handy for them as they are challenging for the title and Champions League. The Africa Cup thing is very weird though.

That's not true.

Would've been a good signing for Liverpool. Exactly what they need. You're going to get a downgrade and buy Berahino now.

Good luck to Swansea replacing him though.

On the face of it £30 million is nice, but he was performing like a £100k a week striker on probably half of that. Even if they go and spend up to £20 million on a striker, unless they hit the jackpot or spend big on wages, they probably wont be replacing him.

Personally, I think it's a good signing. They've perhaps overpaid but they're getting a very good PL player who scores goals for fun. I think I read that he was the top scorer in the league in 2014.

Good signing for all parties considering City get a good striker, Swansea make a quick buck and Bony gets to challenge for titles and play in the CL.

He's a good striker and will score a lot of goals for them but £30 million sure is a lot for a player like Bony.

Jovetic is better than Dzeko. Think Negredo was out of their hands really due to FFP reasons, not 100% sure though, was a weird if not.

If his goals win them the title then he's been worth a lot more than £30million too them. Can only see him scoring more at a top club as well considering he'll get a lot more chances. That's if he regularly plays.

Hes not better than Jovetic tbh

Liverpool game aside I didn't think Jovetic has made that much of an impact.....6 in 22 games

Bony has 3 more goals in the same games in a worse team....

think City need an advanced frontman rather than Jovetic who seems more of a #10 to me in his play (especially when you have guys like Silva/Nasri)

This is a good signing for City. Bony has scored goals at every club and is proven in the premier league. The price of £30 million is what you'd expect for a good striker these days. He's 26 so has quite a few good years left yet. Swansea got a bargain when they signed him for £12 million.
