Christiano Ronaldo - NO current rumors

It’s a World Cup year, Madrid are playing for a 3rd CL in a row and at this point last season he just had 2 more goals than what he has now.

Dead and buried again.

I actually think he's leaving this summer. Ronaldo is clearly on the decline, he has 4 league goals. This is THE summer to move Ronaldo considering his age, decline and high wages. Florentino is playing this situation smart by indirectly pushing Ronaldo out the door by declining to give him a pay raise that's on par with Messi.

By playing this strategy he won't be looked as the "bad guy" in pushing the club's all time goal scorer out.

Ronaldo in many ways has become their Rooney situation. A brand name player with huge wages and huge influences at a club that clearly needed to be moved.

If Ronaldo leaves they can easily transition to the next Galactico era by aggressively pursuing Hazard or their ultimate muppet dream (Neymar).

However Madrid's biggest problem is finding a destination for him to go. PSG have the finances (and that may be questionable considering the outlay they are committed to make for Mbappe without violating FFP) but where does Ronaldo and Neymar fit in the same team? They don't for many reasons, including an inevitable clash of MAJOR egos. So that leads to whether PSG are interested in a Neymar/Ronaldo swap knowing that although he'll bring the same commercial appeal as Neymar, they'd clearly get the declining and ageing player.

Don't be surprised if it happens nonetheless because I think we can all agree that Neymar is destined to leave PSG at some point, one way or another. PSG will not be his last European club.

I get all the fee and wages stuff with Ronaldo being too expensive and can almost go along with the age thing too although he's still got 2 or 3 more years in the tank. But anyone saying he's not good enough or we don't need him in a team that still has Blind, Darmian, Fellaini, Carrick etc., seriously needs to get a grip. Yeah so he's going through a dip...the whole Real Madrid team are. Doesn't make them shite overnight. Don't get this aversion to having real depth in the squad. Yet everyone's wanking themselves silly over City's 'amazing squad'.

I certainly wouldn't pay anywhere near £90m for him, but if United felt they could get him, I'd be all for it. Like many have said though, it's never gonna happen. I'd only be gutted if City went in for him though....which I wouldn't put past them feckers!

I'm not sure PSG would be willing to spend the money on him anymore. A few years ago when they were building their project ,sure, but they've got a great team, they've made a huge statement by signing the future Balon D'or winner from Barcelona, they are considered one of the worlds elite clubs. I don't think they need to waste money on a 33 year old in decline. I reckon Woodward would be interested and give it thought, but ultimately decide against it. City have no need for him either. I just don't see any way he can leave unless his wages are significantly reduced and Madrid are happy for him to go for peanuts.

The fact that the large majority of Manchester United fans (who are supposed to be biased towards him) wouldn't touch the current Ballon d'Or holder with a ten foot bargepole speaks volumes. Ronaldo is in for a rude awakening in the summer the way things are going...

Last year, he saved his season in 4 games (5 if you count vs Kashima Antlers).

Now, don't get me wrong, what he achieved in those 4 games putting 10 goals vs Atletico, Bayern and Juve? I probably won't see anything like that again, but you can't realistically expect for him to do that consistently or even similar to compensate his bad stints every season from now on. Even if he managed to score at one per game (and that would be already exceptional) in those 5 important matches, he goes down from 13 goals in 5 games, to 5 in 5, something espectacular by any standar, but his global numbers go from 42 in 46 games to 34 in 46, he's still good, but maybe not enough to the standards everyone expects from him.

And time will tell, but I doubt Ronaldo (or any other player) is able to mantain even a 1:1 goalscoring ratio in finals, semifinals and quarters (and even less vs the teams he did) every year, it just seems way hopeful to expect him doing it again this year because his season looks similar to where he was 12 months ago. He achieved one of those feats that define careers, we can't downplay that feat to "he's going to do it again" every year.

Well, he's at a point where most Manchester United fans don't want him and a lot are even calling for him to go to the MLS or retire. Real Madrid fans want him to be benched and Barcelona fans are laughing at him.

Obviously he's not going to repeat anything since neither him or Madrid are as good as last season.

He can come if they let him go for £20m but anything more will be too much of a risk given his health and salary expectations, not to mention playing time.

The summer to move him along doesn't mean anyone will be willing to pay money for him and pay him the wages he wants. Hope he and Real get stuck with each other for a long time to come.

China or MLS could easily make the transfer+wages back in revenues generated. They'd have to offer him some ludicrous contract to entice him, something like 250M/5yrs and possibly a cut in marketing/royalties generated.

If interested in the actual matches, he could easily average 2-3 goals per game in MLS. But he'd go nuts seeing how low the quality of play is compared to what he's accustomed to. He gets a bit pissed off when teammates fail to deliver, he'd experience that every fecking possession in MLS.

Messi recently got a better paying contract than him and so did Neymar last summer, which is supposedly making Ronaldo VERY unhappy.

Ronaldo does this whenever he wants something, whether that's bailing him out from tax evasion penalties or giving him more money. It feels like we hear about Ronaldo wanting to leave every few months nowadays.

Imagine the meltdown if City have dropped their interest in Sanchez as they found out Ronaldo was available and open to the move.

Last summer was the summer to sell him after the double. Madrid could of triggered Neymars release clause while he was still at Barca or go all out for Mbappe. can't see PSG letting Neymar leave who, these days, is a superior player to Ronaldo and probably more marketable. People keep saying Madrid will shift Benzema, Ronaldo, Bale etc but i don't see who would want them at this stage. Maybe just me but imo Hazard doesn't have the drive or personality to lead Madrid post-Ronaldo. If they can shift 2 of the BBC i think they'll go for Dybala and Griezmann, both want to play in Spain and Madrid wouldn't need to negotiate with Atleti since its a release clause.

Agree Neymar will leave PSG at some point, my bet would be the PL though. el clasico would be intense if he did join Madrid though

Sorry Cristiano, but we're kinda busy with the Sanchez-saga right now

Try again in the summer and we can give you the attention you want and play along while you milk Real for a gigantic new contract

Expect him to go to China or MLS. I just don't see a 33-year old Ronaldo getting a 40M contract now in Europe, plus the +50M fee that Real would request.
Portugal NT will also need to look for the next "Ronaldo", the figurehead of the team. Don't see anyone at his level or close, at least in finishing ability.

A year back, a few years back, we'd all be jumping on this.

We've been dragged around for him just to get bigger contracts at Madrid for years and years...and he's kinda milked all the nostalgia/excitement out of us. Pushed it a little too far Ronnie, soz pal.

If he's going to a lesser team then he should choose the MLS for the best lifestyle

umm.. no. let him have his dip somewhere else. Nobody says we don't need an amazing player, we just don't need an amazing player who's declining and slowly contributing less and less to games AND will cost an arm and a leg. If he was available on Zlatan money, yeah sure but he'll want like half a million a week and Real will want like 70 million for him. For what, 12-18 months? what about the other 3.5 years of contract he'll want to be paid for. He was amazing, is amazing right now, but i don't think it's worth the risk commiting to him because he'll want long term, and i think his amazingness will only last short term.

Would be a good bench option, useful for the Caribo cup etc.

Just not worth the whole layout..

Besides weren't there huge rumors that him,Sergio Ramos and Casillas were part of the anti Mourinho camp at Madrid..

Sanchez and Ozil are great deals, look how much we've saved..OMG lets buy 33 yo Ronaldo for 80m and a 500k a week contract.

The press must think we're idiots.

Madrid would be stupid to give him a new contract. His current deal ends in 2020 which would make him 34. Surely at that stage he won't be at a level to join any top side and won't actually be worth much money.

Makes more sense for them to let him see out his contract.

Fool me once. Shame on me.
Fool me twice. Err....
You can't get fooled again. :p

The fee is not the problem. He seems to be asking for €40m net a year, which roughly translates to £1.2m per week (taxes 45% and £/€ at 1.13).

No one in Europe will even consider that kind of offer, he'll have to go to China for that.

Well done for naming a player about to retire and 3 players the fans want rid of!

I cant seriously see why people want him back. The narrative would be a player leaving, spending his prime years elsewhere then coming back now they want a shiney new toy and spending his last few years winding down with us on a crazy wage. No thanks.
