Christian Eriksen | Signs for Inter

I see Levy trying to cash in because otherwise we'll lose him on a free.

What I do not see is Eriksen abandoning a huge signing on fee and his pick of elite clubs on the continent in order to get a move to Manchester United. Sorry, but I don't buy it whatsoever, he'll run out his contract and then go to a club who can guarantee him trophies AND huge money.

Same situation as Dybala imo. The clubs may well both reach an agreement but the player in question? He's going to want the world in order to agree to something like this because I honestly don't think you'd be his first, second, or even third choice..

That's what I think.

Solksjaer hinted at the idea of McTomonay and Pogba as a midfield pairing. We'd need an Eriksen or Fernandes to be further forward, if we're playing a high line. Some fecker has to pull the strings in this side. I dont see much creativety at the moment.

You hearing much from Portugal? Is there any truth in our interest?
The last reports both mentioned United and Spurs interest. Since the cup final there has been no other real reports regarding this transfer saga.

But would he want to come here? I mean you don't want to have another Di Maria situation...

These names linked recently are all Lingard replacements.

Shame no matter what you say or think this is still Manchester United.

I'm kind of annoyed/worried at the lack of forward planning by the club tbh. Allowing both Toby and Eriksen to run down their contracts.

Would have preferred both were sold a season ago (and immediately replaced by genuine quality) rather than allowing them both to go for free, in which case all our money which could be spent improving the side is going to be spent plugging holes.

For a Danish guy? Nah, I think we could easily be second, and even be a good choice. I wouldn't even be surprised. We have more problems with South Americans and some of the Spanish, Italian guys, but Nordic or even German, I wouldn't be too worried. And ultimately, when you think of how City built, it doesn't matter that much.

Maybe you’re right.

But then again you’re not actually faced with the decision. It’s easy for rival fans to say no to United.

If Eriksen speaks to United, he’ll hear about a pay rise no other club would likely offer him, he’ll see the history of the club, the team that won the treble, who’ve had Beckham, Ronaldo, Cantona and the greatest Danish footballer ever. A club looking to raise to past glories and win the title again, Eriksen will get to be a part of it and go down as a Club icon if achieved. To play in a stadium which has hosted some of the best matches is PL and CL history, potentially alongside Paul Pogba.

Sounds a lot better than working for Curry’s because they do a 50% staff discount doesn’t it?

But nah, rival fans who’ll never actually face that prospect know that United won’t be of any appeal.

Feels like one of those stories they create to hype the window closing.

Is that why he wants to leave Tottenham, because you cant guarantee him either of those?

Hasn't he already said he is looking for a new challenge? It's not like he'd be going to Arsenal either.

Yes, but not new domestic challenges.

If he was moneyhungry mercenary he would have made different careerchoices.

I've always thought there was 1 and only 1 targetclub for Eriksen. Barcelona. The 2 legends of Danish football Michael Laudrup and Allan Simonsen both played there, and it's been romanticized and idealized for years in the Danish football-folklore. Being the 3rd Danish player there would cement him forever in our country as 'one of the greats'. Never saw him as a RM player. He doesn't have the personality for RM.

But if it's true that Tottenham want him to leave because they want the funds, then maybe, just maybe Eriksen will see it as clean slate, and he can join a domestic rival.

Bring him.

Who cares if he's Danish.

You haven't won a league since Fergie, you don't have CL football. Eriksen has wanted a move to Madrid for ages, not Manchester United.

From what I've heard/the clubs mooted about, Eriksen doesn't want any more projects, he wants to go somewhere where he can get a boat load of cash and a load of trophies. You can't do that so he's not going to be in any rush to sign on the dotted line.

Ah look.. a load of reasons that will only matter to somebody who actually supports United. Emotional guff, as if Eriksen will even care that you had Beckham back in the mid 2000's.

He will be looking at the current profile of potential clubs and what they offer him in the future, and you won't be near the top of that list. You can delude yourself in to believing otherwise if it makes you feel better about the end of this window, but that's all it is .. delusion.

Yeah his heart will be racing at the prospect of playing alongside Pogba and continuing to not win any leagues. Stuff dreams are made of.

Laudrup played for Barcelona and Madrid, mate.

Granted, so did Beckham and Ronaldo. And potentially Pogba.

Obviously, otherwise he would have signed a new contract.

His decision is bloody clear: end of this year he is available on a free and can pick anyone, and everyone will be offering him stupid money because he'll be free. He could go to Barcelona, Madrid, Juventus, elite clubs who aren't just the name but actually doing the business on the pitch.

Real Madrid, at this moment is a project.

Shit loads of money is emotional guff? He may also want Spurs to get some money for him. He seems to think very highly of your club and what you've provided for a significant portion for his career. Like it or not United is still a significant upgrade on Spurs.

Spurs fans in belittling Man Utd shocker.

It's not belittling, it's fecking reality.

You're a massive club, the biggest in the league, but there are clubs just as big on the continent who aren't in a shit situation on the pitch, which you are.

The belief in here that players like Eriksen will be racing to join you ahead of other elite clubs is ridiculous, pure folly and doesn't have any grounding in reality.

Unless he has some kind of personal preference for United. E.g. as a kid he aspired to play for us. Not saying he does, but that would trump most of what you have said.

Still won more than you since Fergie left.

He'll get shit loads of money wherever he goes. And a humongous signing on fee if he goes on a free. In fact the money will almost certainly be more if he's able to go around and pick his club, because everyone will be trying to outbid each other to try and get a player like Eriksen for no transfer fee.

The latter part I honestly don't think he gives a feck about, and me believing he does would be me believing the same level of emotional guff but about Spurs. He'll choose what is best for him and his career, not what is best for Spurs.

Right now I would be happy about any of Fernandes, Dybala or Eriksen as we are desperately crying out for some creativity.
Hell I would even take one of RMs second fiddle players like Isco or James.

Still won more than you since Fergie left.

Why is this relevant?

I'm not having a dig at United for the sake of it, I'm saying you're not as attractive as the other elite clubs right now, certainly not to the point where a player would abandon a potential huge signing on fee/battle to get his signature in order to join you.

People obviously feel the need to take it as a personal attack on United, but it's not. It's just being honest about the current situation, which obviously some people can't handle from a rival fan .. but it has nothing to do with Spurs and how good/big we are. He doesn't want to stay with us.

Biggest club in the World pal.

The club that makes people talk more than any other.

A club that plays against Inter, a huge club, abroad and sells 95% of the tickets.

A club who Manchester journalists will say gets up to 3x as many clicks as an equivalent Manchester City article (the Champions of England)

A club Tottenham fans will join the message board of, because it’s bigger better and more interesting.
