Christian Eriksen | Man Utd player

I think this kind of signing is berry berry schrew. Great to get a player on a free transfer who is high quality, only 30 with good experience and probably not on crazy wages (at least not at the level that we have paid players like Ronaldo, DDG, Pogba and Sanchez recently)

Welcome to the biggest club in the world.

I just watched the Tifo video on the transfer. Used to love those guys but now they are just incompetent toxic idiots.
That was a laughably poor video. They were good when they were the "chalkboard" video channel. Ever since they started showing their ugly mugs and started trying to be funny/show character, they're an awful watch. The first few minutes of that clip were just the bloke trying too hard to take digs at United.

Brilliant signing! Oozes class.

I wanted United to sign him prior to him going to Inter.

VdB needs to be moved. Even Iqbal playing in a similar role has looked better in the last few games. I wonder if Ajax can get a tune out of him?

Bring on City and Liverpool. Eriksen, FDJ and Bruno can actually dominate a midfield against City and Pool. Been so waiting for it .

Cracking signing. Think People still don't know what we are getting . If Ronaldo has his shooting boots on, he would easily be the top scorer this year.

Haaland will score 30+ and nobody can match it. Ten less is possible tough.

It's a few years late, but he's stil an excellent midfielder who is class on the ball. Will be fun to see him play for us.

Really looking forward to seeing him play for us. He's absolutely sublime with the ball at his feet.

There's a risk with this signing of course (minimised by the lack of a fee), but it's really positive that we are getting Ten Hag the players he wants.

Be interesting to see what position he plays. I can't see it being as a number ten with Fernandes and van de Beek already there.

He was the worst corner taker in the league at Spurs. Eriksen failing to beat the first man became an internet meme.
Really? Still remember watching him deliver inswingers after inswingers bang in the middle of the six yard box almost every game. I'm probably thinking of Sigurdsson or Ward-Prowse if not him.

Great signing. He’ll be a VDS-esque signing, where we’re all scratching our heads wondering why we didn’t sign him a few years ago.

Really? He looked done in his last season at spurs

He was disengaged and struggling for motivation it seemed. He had been there a long time and wanted a change and he seemed somewhat checked out before heading to Inter. At Inter he was initially not really rated by Conte, seemed almost like a signing the club made over his head but in the title winning season he was excellent and clearly won Conte over so the change did him some good. I do also think that following the Euros he is taking nothing for granted and is really looking to make the most of what is left of his career, it is a huge cliche but an incident like the one he experienced is bound to have a profound impact on you.

One thing he can add to the team is his excellent set-piece taking ability from CKs and from indirect FKs, Bruno is decent at them but not as good as Eriksen

Exactly. Let's take digs because it's popular right? And it does not fit with our version of football (the one that under rated Madrid for the last 10 years). They were good imo when they had a few things to say and a bit of humility; now they talk like they know what is right and everything deviating from that is wrong. They became the Athletic.

Think he’ll play plenty of games as an 8 for us. Along with Bruno as a 10. They both have great work rates. In the toughest games, I think probably only one will play, but I’m fairly sure he’s been signed to play deeper, with our emphasis on keeping the ball and using it well. He presses really well, not the best tackler but I don’t think that matters if you are trying to win the ball back high up the pitch and then release it quickly into dangerous areas.

Really excellent signing. We’ve now brought in Malacia and Eriksen, for a combined net spend of about 4m, accounting for sales. Wage bill is also massively down, and I think the squad is better already than last year. Pogba has been replaced with a player much better suited to our play, and on what? Half the wages. We still need a Matic replacement, but Cavani, Lingard and Mata won’t be missed.

If we can bring in Martinez and De Jong, our squad will look a whole lot better than last year. We need a forward, undoubtedly, because we lack depth there. But I’m very happy with how our window is progressing so far.
Totally agree with you.

I think with Ten Hag's system of players rotating positions in triangles and filling the vertical and horizontal zones, players like Bruno, Eriksen and Donny, who can all play both centrally as well as wide creators/"ramdeteurs" will be greatly utilized.

I won't be surprised if we see games where all 3 of them play with two being in the wide positions. If we are not identifying the wings as a zone of weakness, but want to overwhelm the centre, for example

Hope Ten Hag doesn't succumb to the pressure of playing the incumbent. It's okay if the coach wants to try him deeper initially in a two-man midfield, but if he doesn't do well there, then he should be moved to the position that would get the best out of him regardless of who is currently playing there, based on his evident quality and record as a midfielder compared to every other midfielder in our current squad.

That's pretty much how I see it as well. An experience like that would surely change your perspective.

Great signing. Eriksen will force Bruno to play better so it should be a win-win.

Things are looking good overall with an RB, AM and CB signed. If we can get FDJ then we'll be a very good attacking team. Our defense might be a little questionable but coaching can take care of most concerns.

I'm starting to get excited about the season!

Watching some of these Eriksen Brentford highlights and there's no way he should be benched. Nobody has that consistent quality of pass combined with control and vision in the whole squad. Has to start.

Most think he will play deeper, so lets see

I'm a bit perplexed, he was good at Spurs but I never felt like he was a must-have type of player. Haven't really watched him much at Brentford.
Any addition is welcome at this stage I'd say

Bit of a no-brainer, this.

If he plays like he did at Brentford or (ideally) gets close to his 2017 levels for Spurs, he'll be one of our best players. Also extremely versatile - can see him getting games in 3-4 different positions.

If we've gotten the 2019-2021 version (and let's be honest, he was not very good), he's still a replacement for Mata/Lingard/Van de Beek as a depth option. Massive, massive upgrade.
