Christian Eriksen | Man Utd player

VDB hasn't earned the right to play any games yet so he doesn't need to be considered at all.

He is poor wherever we play him
Then why keep him? He'll be a waste of wages and the longer he sits on the bench the more his market value drops. He could free up space and funds for a midfielder we'd actually use.

Of all the signings we have been linked with the summer this is the one I have been most excited about. I think Eriksen on a free is going to turn out to be a great bit of business.

This is a great signing! The more creativity we have the better! Takes the pressure of Bruno a little bit which might help him perform much better! Our strikers best be up to scratch this season with there finishing because there going to get it laid on a plate for them! :)

They won't be training with Ten Hag, Mitchell or Schteve though, and the sooner they can get integrated to EtH style the better, even if they didn't play, they should go for that week of working under EtH.

Ah I get that, still I'd rather them fresh and ready to go.

Oslo seems a likely spot for them to all meet up and start getting to work together.

Eriksen trained under ten Hag at Ajax for a bit before he signed for Brentford so ten Hag's style won't be alien to him.

We have two matches left in Australia: one on Tuesday and one next Saturday. If he were to fly out he wouldn't be ready for the game on Tuesday. Best for him to get up to speed here and play in the friendly either on the 30th or the 31st.

Bit annoying this. I really, really want to root for him but he keeps joining teams I don't want to see succeed.

Good signing! We need the squad depth for Europa, we also need to minimize the gap between our first team and our backups, very happy with this.

The signing I'm the most excited about. Feels like he'll add a completely new dimension to our game.

Him and FDJ should ensure that we're moving towards a team better and more comfortable with possession than the shit show we have watched in last few years.

He's a very good player, but I don't really understand where he'll play? Unless the idea is to use him as a rotation option with Bruno (but then what happens to Donny?).

He played off the right mostly for Spurs. Much deeper for Brentford and Inter.

I think he'll be a bit like a right side Pogba

Lost Pogba who was on 350k and signed Eriksen as his replacement for half of his wages. Has there been a better deal for us ?

Over the next three years, I believe he will contribute a lot more to United on the pitch than Pogba did over any three-year period you care to compare against

Assuming they can close FdJ then absolutely this! It’s no surprise, but nevertheless very reassuring, to see the type of players EtH is targeting.

Eriksen can play deeper in midfield though.
Can or should?

Are we going to shoehorn players into positions that aren't their best role? He's spent most of his career as an attacking midfielder, even at times playing as an attacker out wide. To convert him to a deep lying player for the sake of trying to fit in too many similar players doesn't make any sense to me.

Shame we won't get to see him on the tour.

Have you not seen the Scott Mctominay is a striker thread...

Great signing. Hopefully allows us to play a bit more rather than sideways and backwards

Can. And I'm not saying he should be a deep lying playmaker but can work as a box to box cm. Also in modern football positions are not so fixed that he's be just near opposing box when he'll play as an attacking midfielder.

I think he will naturally fit into the double pivot and definitely improve our passing and ball retention skills. Proven PL experience and played great in a up and down Brentford team last season.

To be fair a lot of attacking mids drop deeper as they get older. If you look at how ETH uses his players there is a fair amount of flexibility in the positions they take up and so an intelligent player like this will have no problem moving into space and swapping between a central and attacking role during the flow of a game.

He will naturally slot into that role now. It's clear to see with his current age and experience.

on paper this is a quality signing and he experience will be invaluable to the youngsters in the team.
He is only 30 and if he stays fit, he should give us 3 or more years.
11 matches for Brentford in the second half of last season were pretty decent, hopefully he will fit right in , he already knows ETH style of play.

@el diablorojo

He’ll get a great reception at Brentford won’t he?

For me, personally, he hasn't done anything wrong and he was clearly the best player I have ever seen playing for Brentford in terms of pure talent and technique. Can't see anyone, apart from the total idiots, having anything bad to day about him. I am sure he will get a clap when he comes out to warm up - if he is in the squad obviously - but with all ex-players once you leave and you play against us then to me you are just another one of the enemy  For those 90 odd minutes he is fair game as are all opposition players right? Don't think he will be targeted at all though and he is not the sort of player who gets under the opposition skin so think it will be fine. Then again I have a bit of a soft spot for United so might have a softer stance on it...

Eriksen isn't coming here to be a backup. He will start most of our matches. I don't think everyone gets what he is capable of.

He was brilliant in a deep role for Brentford. Reminding me of Scholesy.

CHRISTian Eriksen
United Messiah
He died and resurrected.
He came to save us all.

So if he isn't on the pre season tour, do we have other friendlies after the tour, before the season starts?
We have friendlies against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano a week before our season starts. I'd expect our new signings to feature in either of those games.

Thanks. Are 2 games enough time for Eriksen, Martinez and De Jong to be prepared for the new season though?
